FourFiveSeconds- new collab. with Rihanna, Kanye and Paul
-
Love is Paul:
The song enters the Billboard Hot 100 at #54: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6451195/rihanna-kanye-west-paul-mccartney-fourfiveseconds-hot-100
Expect it to climb next week. It's still selling strongly (#3 on iTunes at the moment) and growing fast on radio. My money is on it cracking the Top 40. Oh, and "Only One" has reappeared on the iTunes chart to, at #96 as I write this, and a video was just released so maybe it will sneak back onto the Hot 100 next week.

You are correct GMAN, yet the "fans" here will say you are unreasonable, and insult you like they have me. The few true fans on this board have supported me, and agreed that we have been humiliated beyond repair. Kanye cannot sing or play an instrument. Musically speaking...what have you got? The last few years we've had the humiliating experience of : jayz linkin park at Grammys, Pauls voice cracking at that same show, Jayz wearing a Lennon shirt at that show as if to mock Paul, Horsens cancellations, stale setlists, "Appreciate", and robot buddy, admitting he buys rap albums, going to rap concerts, kids not knowing who Macca is,and now the Kanye Rihanna collaboration which is only #54 in the charts and has been confirmed a flop by many. Our legacy was slightly tarnished when 80% of the live show turned into a Beatles fest while our solo output was ignored. Add to that these recent incidents, and our legacy is truly tarnished beyond repair. If he doesn;t change his ways he will be remembered in 50 years as the guy who was Rihanna and Kaynes session musician. Embarassing.
I'm sorry, but no one on this board will take you seriously when you keep on saying over and over again that Paul's legacy is damaged beyond repair because of these collaborations. You keep on pushing hyperbole over fact time and time again with your statements. Firstly, the Grammy thing a few years back: so what if Jay-Z wore a Lennon shirt? Does that mean that myself, and millions of other fans around the world who wear John Lennon shirts are continuously mocking Paul? That doesn't make any sense! Do you own a John Lennon shirt? If you wear it, you must be mocking Paul, right? And also, when did Paul's voice crack during that performance? It didn't! Secondly, so what if Paul buys rap albums and goes to rap concerts? He has the right to. He's a musician. He's allowed to broaden his horizons with any genre he may choose. I think what it boils down to is that you don't like rap. And that's fine. But there's no need to criticize Paul because he wants to delve into other musical genres. Lastly, you are the only one on this board to constantly state that Paul's legacy is somehow irreparably damaged beyond repair. And trust me, his legacy is BEYOND CEMENTED at this point. Unless you can provide facts and evidence to back up your dislike of these collaborations, please stop. You're only embarrassing yourself. You're just being annoying and childish, and it does nothing to further conversation here.
Everything you stated here is true, but please do not feed the troll.

Lol. Yeah troll. Ive been going to Maccs shows since 89. Im not a casual fan who supports eveything he does like some you. My inbox has been flooded with support from real fans and ive also got a lot of negative feedback from casual fans. #96 on the charts is a disaster no matter how you spin it. Nobody thrives to be #96 on a chart of 100. Lol. Another embarrasment. Kayne cant sing or play an instrument. So what have you got musically with him?!?. Paul can sing and plays tons of instruments and is barely audible on the track. No wonder it flopped!

No one has said that. It's actually climbing the charts. Paul's having success on the charts, and that doesn't make you happy? What will? Just to be clear, I don't actually agree that Paul's legacy has been tarnished by these collaborations. We are now far beyond the point at which there is any chance of that happening. I also like 'Appreciate' a lot. It's one of my favourite songs on New and I thought the video was great fun. The only thing I take issue with here is Kanye West, because he and others like him just go against all of my musical principles. If people like him, fair enough. I can't stop that from being the case (unfortunately!). To be completely honest, everyone will probably have forgotten about these collaborations by the end of the year. That's just the nature of the modern industry for you.

Only #54!! Thats a flop!
Is that you Ferrante?
Cool. So I'm not the only one who remembers that guy.

Maccattack, you're racist. Paul can do what he wants. It's his career. He's not a dumba**. Please take your negative vibes away from here. You don't belong here. Go home and listen to whatever music you want. Think whatever you want. But don't share it here over and over. Pretty bold move from a newcomer.

I'm not getting a racist vibe from MACCATTACK ... just profound close-mindedness... ...which is typically a trait of racism, but I digress...

Man this thread certainly has taken a dive! I may not enjoy or buy the music, but Paul's certainly entitled to play with whoever the hell he wants to, and no one here has the right to tell him otherwise!

Racism and stupidity are different things, but the Venn diagrams have a great deal of overlap.

Not embarrassing at all. It's a hit. People are talking about Paul who never did before. I love it! Oh, and it's a good record. But since I'm talking, FourFiveSeconds is still at #3 on iTunes and roaring along on the airplay charts, and Only One is moving back up iTunes at #45, probably thanks to the video and a steady increase of radio play (though not as fast as the Rihanna tune). So I'll now bet money that Paul will be on 2 Hot 100 singles next week, with one of them in the Top 40 (and maybe the top 30).

A lot of differing views on a lot of issues. My views: Firstly, I am not sure I have read anything by any poster that suggests a disapproval/disdain of Mr. Kardashian has anything to do with his with race. A disapproval/disdain due to his petulance, immaturity, self-love, stupidity, idiocy, ignorance, style of "music", disrespect for anyone... yes.... did I mention immaturity? But I can't recall anyone citing their disapproval of him due to his race... now I cannot stand the man, obviously, but I'd be suppressing an ache in my gut even more if it was Justin Bieber as Paul's collaborator. Secondly, as for the quality of the collaboration.... it is not offensive. Average. Nothing more than average. I give it a C+. I will stand by my opinion that it is OK, but certainly nothing that is groundbreaking. Just so-so. And, let's face it, when heavyweights get together, one expects something "special". I'm not seeing that. Give me the Traveling Wilburys. Now that was some collaboration. Thirdly, NOTHING will detract from Paul's legacy. None of it harms him. His legacy is ensured. In stone. He could prove to be producer, special guest and scriptwriter of Bruce Jenner's imminent and contrived "Now I am a woman" TV series and his legacy will still be enshrined. Happy for him to continue putting himself out there... even if I expect better from him at times.... the guy doesn't seem to have a set of brakes. And God bless him, he's going to remain a music-making machine. Even if this collaboration, for me, didn't hit the mark.
