Tug of Peace

I wouldn't change neither of them as well. Just fine just the way they are

One word: NO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tug of War is a perfect album. Why anyone would touch it is beyond me.
Exactly, sad the follow up was so bad IMO.

I too consider TOW a masterpiece I just meant the list Mother 77 provided, well it came across like it would be real good too. For the record, I really like "What's That You're Doing" and "Ebony and Ivory," especially Ebony & Ivory. Art is subjective, remember...one person's trash is another person's treasure, and all that

The album is untouchable. Now, that being said, if I had one offering, it would be that the "Link" bit be supplanted with/by "Tug of Peace". I love the latter. A vocal treat. But this is one hell of an album. I don't think it's been beaten by Paul since. He's done some great stuff since, but this remains a real, real, real treat for me.

There is no possible way to combine Pipes Of Peace's tracks whit Tug Of War's tracks. It's like making a bigger Tug Of War, adding the songs that Martin didn't approve and were included in PoP. Maybe that's the reason of why PoP is not a good album. It had been made with wasted material.

I wonder if this is why the 'Paul McCartney Collection' re-release of TOW didn't have any bonus tracks

Looking forward to a Tug of War reissue. If only he'd made this album: Tug of Peace Tug of War The Other Me Ballroom Dancing Keep Under Cover The Pound Is Sinking Be What You See (Link) Here Today Take It Away Say Say Say Somebody Who Cares Through Our Love Wanderlust So Bad Pipes of Peace
I will say that this is an interesting presentation of the material, flows nicely, and it does collect all my personal favorites from the two albums. Do I prefer it to Tug Of War? No, but I have a soft spot for "alternate universe" types of scenarios like this, just to try them out. But there's an overall stateliness to TOW that POP simply lacks (for the most part), and you can hear it in the production.
-
In a way, I wouldn't mind if this had been a double album (this list). POP gets so much grief. Some charge that album is just a bit too lightweight, almost "throw away." I love Pipes of Peace (the song) for its wonderful message, its almost childlike innocence, Paul's singing, the melody, the child chorus, the overall sound.

If I had to change anything in TOW, it would be The Pound Is Sinking. I wouldn't remove it, I would just change the subject matter. But I wouldn't touch that part where he goes all out vocally. It's sounds way to good "But OOOOOH IT DIDN'T HAPPEN!!!, if only for a minute, your heart just wasn't in it, anymore". It doesn't even sound like it belongs in a song about the state of the global economy.

Can't change that song. One of my faves! Subject matter and all. At least it will always stay relevant. In cycles.

Two brilliant albums in my book, after all he worked brilliantly when he worked with George Martin in some other band he was in, I forget their name now wink
-
If you change The Pound is Sinking, you have to make all of the currencies go down.
-
Interesting combination of tracks from the pipes of war sessions. "Tug of War" to me is like a perfect pop album, it's so smooth and arranged and worked through in the best possible way, I guess this sort of 'adult contemporary' pop aren't hip these days, "Tug of War" is not as recognized as "Ram" maybe but it should be. It is the best quality of its kind.
-
I forgot to say that I think "Pipes of Peace" also is a good album. When it came out I liked it almost better than "Tug of War", I played it all the time, in retrospect, it has a reputation to be leftovers from these sessions but I still think it has some of the same qualities only that it is a little weaker, there's no "Here Today" or the type of songs that makes "Tug of War" feel a little more personal, or what to say.

Pipes of Peace, the album, has So Bad. That's a personal song. And Pipes of Peace, the song, is powerful on its own.
