Scared : could have been another classic
-
That's sort of how I felt about "My Valentine," that it's too bare bones and stripped down, not enough "there, there." But then, I didn't listen to Valentine much. My reaction might have changed. Anyways you got me thinking "Scared" might strike me the way My Valentine did. Too bare bones.

I still like it the way it is. Sounds to me like there's a bit of electric keyboard in there with the piano. Thoughts?

I'm excited for you to get this album. Let us know!

Toris "While my Guitar" on Anthology is not bare in production. it only starts with guitar alone! imagine taking the orchestra out and see the difference! George Martin did a brilliant job there. "Scared" is crying for that. production is about imagining how things might work best for a track.

Thanks, Toris. I'm out in the sticks or I'd have it by now : Might get to get it this coming week. Ammar, do you mean "Scared' could be another "Yesterday" type classic, if adorned with strings and such? Is the song that enthralling?

I can hear it in the background at the end.

the way it is now is not another yesterday of course I'm thinking this song is still in a preparation stage like the first demo of Paul classics. while it is lyrics and subject are complete. Here is one of the typical "Paul" imaginary stories about someone isolated or shy or whatever your mind might go on (with a simple nice melody line leading you ) who wants to declare his feelings but he cant for a strong reason! no matter how he try he is still isolated in the end , the word "Scared" can mean anything. I put "while My Guitar" of Anthology as a sample of what a simple melodic song demo can end brilliantly if the right creative production was put on it. hope Paul will give it another try for a single or b-side

It looks like we will remain on complete opposite pages on this one. I will simply reiterate my contention that George?s song is great in its bare form. It?s a beautiful song. Gorgeous. It could have been released with just George on acoustic and it would have done it for me. There is a lot, lot more to work with. On the other hand, I cannot imagine Scared being much chop in any form, whether it be embellished with the strings and horns of the London Philharmonic Orchestra or the Stuebenville High School Dropouts Band. A weak song that I just can?t get into. I think it's crying out for a melody, if anything. A great album, nevertheless.
