Michelley:
PAUL JUST WON A GRAMMY FOR KOTB!!!!!! OK, so he should have won for Ram, and half of you hate KOTB, but I'm among those who love it, so I'm happy to see it recognized.
YAY!!!!!! I'm so happy as well, I think he really deserves it and have been praying that he wins, and in yet another category of music... just wonderful
-
...and my Grammy-boycott remains, yet, indefinitely suspended.
-
Congratulations, Paul!!!
-
Well done to Paul on winning the award for KOTB, and well done to Brian Wilson for finally getting the recognition he deserves for SMiLE, i'm sure even Paul himself would have liked him to have that award.
-
So happy for Paul and KOTB! My 12-year-old daughter loves that album as much as I do. I only wish they presented it during the telecast. I am embarrassed to say that we are watching The Grammys and I have never heard of at least half of the performers or presenters. I used to know everyone when I was younger.
-
I knew that you'd win Paul, you made a very good work with Kisses, is a very carefully selection, a very good Band, a very good productor, and YOU...I'm so happy but not amazed, because I knew you'd win
-
KOTB is up there with Kind of Blue. Both very influential albums.

Congrats to Paul on the Grammy award for KOTB!!!! Not my favorite album, but it is my favorite singer. The Grammy's haven't even begun on TV yet here, but couldn't help finding out about Paul. WOOT!!!
-
Great to hear about Paul's big win!!! But I still think RAM should have at least won best box set. Oh well, what are you going to do? It is the Grammy's after all... Still, that doesn't outweigh his win (which was in a much bigger category than the other two)!

Michelley:
By the way, I just saw on Twitter that Brian Wilson was at the Grammys in person to accept his award for Best Historical Album. It helps that he lives in LA. But that must have been a nice moment for him. Really, there was no way that -- given his long history of emotional problems and the long saga of the Smile sessions -- the Grammy voters were going to give that award to anyone but him. That said, I think that Ram is every bit the masterpiece that Smile is.
RAM is a fine album, but SMiLE is easily the real masterpiece here. The depth of the music on there is truly mind-blowing.

RAM... fine? sorry but I disagree. That album and Band on the run made me fell in love with Paul's music. It's just delicious.

Totally agree. The reissue of Smile is a true masterpiece and deserves the Grammy. And CONGRATS to Paul for Kisses on the Bottom!

I think Smile is a masterpiece. But so is Ram. Both are loaded with musical ideas but whereas Brian Wilson didn't write any of the lyrics on Smile, Paul wrote the music and the lyrics, played quite a few of the instruments, sang lead and background vocals, and arranged all of Ram by himself. So as great as Smile is, an equally strong case could be made for Ram. In the new morning light, I continue to think the Ram deluxe set should have won Best Boxed Set. But Paul shouldn't feel bad. Poor Bruce Springsteen was up for 3 Grammy's and didn't win a single one.

Really pleased Kisses won

All good points Michelley... I didn't realize that Brian Wilson didn't write any of those lyrics... now I'm really miffed that he didn't win

I think it's too bad the Pink Floyd Immersion box sets were overlooked for nomination. The 7 disc set of The Wall is amazing!

Awesome Paul won the Grammy! He deserved it, in that category for that album. Well played. btw IMO the music in SMiLE is just way more heavy and dense with musical and lyrical inventiveness. I could see it beating Ram in that historical category.

Well Done Paul
