I was born on his 9th birthday!
We're the same age. I know after being on the board for some time, there are quite a few people here in their late 50's and early 60's. I won't name any names though. Remember that in 1964 we were among the younger fans. Those older teenagers are still around somewhere!
Of course you're right...(a lot of people in there 50's and early 60's) But it seems they don't actually visit the site as much or maybe I'm just not on at the same time...
-
I usually just tell people that I was a Senior in high school in February, 1964 and let them figure out the age from there!

QueenBee:
[turned 58 this past June and I too belong to the first generation of being a BEATLE fan. I don't remember much of WINGS because I was busy raising 4 kids born, 1970, 1973, 1977, and 1978. And if I wasn't busy, I would have been too broke to buy concert tickets. I must say WINGS music is one of my favorites and will always be a part of my life. What concerts I didn't make it to in the 70-80's, I have more than made up for it now, especially Paul's.]
We are the same age...I turned 58 in June also(June 18th) and it sounds very familiar...too young in the beginning of the Beatles era to go to any of the shows and then too busy and broke to see any of the Wings shows...nowI'm at a age that I can still get around and have a little money and the time, I got to go to the Halifax concert but that will be the last too. But that will be the height of my fandom, from now on I'll only think back on my trip into maddness...my going alone to a distant land, sleeping out of doors, waiting all that time and having the time of my life!! Not even caring if I looked foolish or insane...I was there!!!

I'm in a band now that is doing strictly 60's covers-'64 thru '69- and I can't tell you how nostalgic our repertoir is making me. I even get to wear go go boots, mini dresses and hippie garb! (*screams*) But when we do the Beatles I am transported; 10 years old again, doing line dances with my girlfriends in their parent's living room, dreaming of all the wonderful things the music bespoke! Ah, the days!

So I was just "13" when Paul and his friends hit Ed Sullivan. That has to be the most vulnerable age of all time! I heard the music the previous Fall and was already a fan. When I saw them live on TV, I immediately fell in love with Paul. It is funny-- a zillion years later I watched the tape of the Ed Sullivan show and I can tell you the exact moment the magic hit. So, different times in my life, I have been asked, "Do you believe in love at first sight?" What do you thinK? Arlene

14 sitting in the audience at the Hollywood Bowl and 15 in field seats at Dodger Stadium! You do the math to determine how old I was sleeping on the streets to get ticket's to Paul's secret Amoeba concert! And two years ago two friends and I finally did THE trip. Liverpool and London. I could not have been better and was worth waiting for. Oh, and the picture in my avator? She was just 17 . . .

We are probably the same age and I slept on the ground(July 09-July 10) at Halifax July 11, 2009(only 'cause I didn't have a room.)So, all the kids there thought I was bonkers, I didn't care...I was finally going to see PM "LIVE"

A fantastic thread with great memories! I am a 1st generation fan since 1964. 45 years and counting! I remember waiting for new Beatles albums to come out...then breaking the shrink wrap on a new vinyl LP, putting the needle on the record and being blown away. Time after time, one incredible album after another. It was Amazing Times in the 60's! My favorite Beatle was John, but I love them all. First saw McCartney in 1976 - Wings Over America...I disagree with one poster. I saw him this year at The Joint in Las Vegas...I think he's better now than EVER! Keep on rockin!

I know that i have posted my memories once on this thread but, just had to share my thoughts that i have right now......... Isn't it fantastic that we are still here Paul fans, still loving every minute of his music and of him , because he is him. Just like we did in the 60's, 70's 80's 90's and now the 00's. Such marvellous memories we all have to remember and share and still making those memories by going to his shows and screaming, dancing, singing as loud as ever. Thank you for all your memories.

Yes, yes.... This is my group.... I do remember 1963 and first finding out about the Beatles. At the young age of 11 I remember Paul being the first man I was ever attracted to. My sister felt the same about Ringo. At the time it seemed perfectly fine to me....an 11 year old with someone who was 21!! I felt so certain that I was going to meet him... I'm hoping that I will some day. I feel so lucky to be an original fan from back in the day.... and I still think Paul is very cute!

Isn't it sad though that all I wanted was for Paul to notice me at Halifax...just a look or maybe even a smile and a wink my way, didn't happen. He just looked out into the crowd and saw just another nameless face in a sea of faces... I'll never get another chance either, Halifax was my one and only shot

Awwww....there are alot of girls at the concerts who do all want to meet Paul, aren't there?(Me too!) But look at Audrey, he just saw her poster and signed her arm, so it's not 100% impossible. Maybe you could save up and buy a front row ticket to a show, then you could see him up close...give him a big smile and a big WINK!! I think he can actually see the people in the front rows really well. I hear that looking into his gorgeous beautiful eyes is very hypnotizing.... then you might even be more bummed that you never got to actually meet him.... SIGH.... Maybe he'll have another signing, but this time on this side of the pond.... You never know, just toss the thought out into the Universe and keep a little hope up and when you least expect it.... He'll be on the bus or something... he has been known to show up in normal everyday places quite a bit.

Iwa in the front at Halifax and PM did walk to the edge of the stage and looked my way, but I just stood there like...I can't believe this is happening, and I did nothing, said nothing...I was in shock

I'll never forget being 11 years old sitting on the hassask in front of the TV in the living room watching the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. I know one of my friends was there, too but don't remember who. All I know is that I bounced up and down and screamed my head off!!! Love at first sight when I saw clips of them before they came to America. Here I am at 57, still a fan, still loving Paul and all the wonderful music. (and have gotten to see him 3 times since April, six times in all) I was a teen in Okinawa and my paternal grandmother would send me the new Beatle albums as soon as they hit the stores. Such excitement when one arrived! I was always the first one to get the new ones and would have friends over for a listen. I also formed a phone chain to call in to the radio station and request any new song to get it to #1 on the local charts. Wherever we moved in the Air Force, the Beatles were the pals I always carried with me. I'd love to tell Paul that in person one day! Such great memories!

Like I said...that was my one and only shot, I won't get another. But thanks for the kind words...if you meet him one day, tell him that Liverpoolbride was always the "nicest fan he never met!"

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! Don't say that- Paul shall live on FOREVER! Ok, so maybe he won't, but I don't want to think about stuff like that. (looks around nervously cause she's an "under 20 years old fan" on the "over 50 years old fan" thread-and then slowly begins to walk away, back to the safety of other parts of the forum.)
