Paul's New Album-- "New"-- CONFIRMED

hey_kittay:
How bout Sir Paul's dance moves in 'Coming Up' and 'Ever Present Past?' I think he is a great dancer and way hotter than JT.
-
I played the song for some of my fellow musicians who I've played Beatles and Wings covers with. They like it! My buddy's only 21 and picked up on it right away. As a matter of fact, a lot of younger people my age (early 20's) seem to be into it...and that, my fellow boardies, is a beautiful thing! Paul's legacy lives on and continues to grow. ...and the hell with the charts.
-
So up to now we have these titles : 1New 2Save Us 3Queenie Eye 4Everybody Out There 5Hosannah 6Struggle 7Alligator outtakes/possible bonus tracks: Secret Life Of A Party Girl Any one else know of anymore ?

HA! Well done.

Bruce M.:
Interesting how it's kids who are jumping on this:
I had to call them on getting the lyric wrong--they wrote searching for a "rock."

Oh, I see it now! I puzzled over this earlier, but it just clicked.

Meanwhile, "New" just passed three quarters of a million views on YouTube.
-
iTunes US chart update: Song is #287 Album is not in top 300 Still some work to do! He needs tens of millions of Youtube views to make up for that.
-
Nancy R:
You give me faith in the younger generation!
Aw, thanky Nancy

Thanks! Not trying to be gloomy, just offering a time capsule. I may have been mistaken about the album yesterday, since it's now #106; I may have missed it on the chart. And of course the single is being held down partially because you get the song free if you pre-order the album. (I bought only the song, as I'm waiting to see if those iTunes bonus tracks show up in physical form.)

Just checked, and "New" officially did not make the new Billboard Hot 100 chart, although there is a song called "No New Friends" at #94.
-
More hope for Paul, though: a 96-year-old man debuts on the singles chart at #42 this week! http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/5680142/fred-stobaugh-96-becomes-oldest-artist-to-appear-on-hot-100 Paul's just a pup at 71.

I hadn't seen this review of New on Pitchfork but it's a lovely description of the song: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/15958-paul-mccartney-new/
You?ll swear you?ve heard this melody before somewhere in his enormous catalog, but that doesn?t mean he?s recycling. The familiarity of ?New? is reassuring, as warm and familiar as a worn comforter or a cup of tea. That gentle melancholy, most evident when his voice careers (with surprising agility) up to hit those high notes, is at odds with the witty arrangement, which tacks on a coda all but quoted from Smile.

Thinking about the album cover artwork: in an alternate universe, it could have been the cover for the new Nine Inch Nails album. You know, 'cause there are, like, nine lines that look like, oh well....
-
The cover art sucks, if that's all it is--those lines
-
Love the New cover art myself. It's like an optical illusion. It looks sharp. Certainly better than a chair. Today's update on Amazon UK, Paul's album is No. 7. Yay! http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-Deluxe-Paul-McCartney/dp/B00EUS9JF0/ref=zg_bs_music_7 And in the US it's No. 32. Course it's been available for pre-order longer in the US.
