McCartney III a possibility?

McCartney 2 fan here as well. Who could resist Temporary Secretary, Coming Up, Waterfalls?? Playful album, very cool that Paul made this!

I'd rather hear ALL of McCartney II than the mere track of The Beatles' "You Know My Name (Look up The Number)." The unrefined, loose McCartney II is an accidental pre-cursor to the polished Tug Of War. Like, say, Let It Be was to Abbey Road. Except, in this case, they were released in the order that they were recorded.

Adore his versatility, his eclectic experimentations as well as his more formal "classic" compositions, the sheer variety of it all! His wonderful, fantastic surprises! Ain't no tellin' what he's cookin' up for us now And hey, he should feel pretty confidant about it all. Not too much, approaching arrogance and vanity, but he should feel confidant about having the right amount of confidance, for sure I loved the jaunty, eager, confidant way he dashed up to the small but fancy stage at the White House, to do his thing. I've seen him stride in that manner before. And appreciated it each time He exuded an "I know I can do this" vibe at the Charlotte concert last July--and rightfully so! He had the chops (and then some) to just cut loose and roll with it. Will never forget that delirous blissed out expression as he jammed with My Band The epitome of a man who knows and loves his music. And is always open to his muse

Do I love those songs? Guilty! Especially 'Temporary Secretary.' "McCartney III" would be badass and as audi said, a smart business decision. I'm itching for the next reissue, remaster, rerelease ... whatever the proper term is, I can't wait!

You know, McCartney III might actually work. I envision it as a straight ahead rocker. Sort of combining the best parts of Chaos, MAF, and Electric Arguments.

MII is Macca's best collection of song craftsmanship since Abbey Road. Hope he experiments again & does a MIII. Like Linda said..."with lots of guitar"

I love the idea of Macca 3 for his next (and possibly final?) album. kind of a bold thing to do, would be #1 I bet. but I said that about New too.. itll probably be #3 in the states for some bullshit reason

Sorry guys, but McCartney II still sucks (despite a couple good songs), and the thought of McCartney III fills me with dread.

Ouch! I think there is something great that happens when Paul shuts it all out and works on his own, no rules, 4 track, old school. that music is pure. I'd be up for him doing it again. or making any record would be good

to me Darkroom and Summer's Day Song and Coming Up should have been a EP

My-my, Mary. Aren't we being a tad dramatic? Still love ya', though. BTW: McCartney II blew me away when I first heard it, sometime in the mid-'90s. Paul had clearly sensed the dawn of New Wave.

Sensed the dawn? More like following the pack. I even remember an interview at the time of Back to the Egg in which he said his daughter played a lot of New Wave records. But even if it was a complete innovation, 2/3 of the album borders on unlistenable. I pull it out every couple years and try really hard to like it, but just can't.

I don't skip a single track.
-
Bruce, I'm not wild about McCartney II either, but don't be a Debbie Downer. Maybe a McCartney III would contain some gems.
-
I'll take the best six songs from McCartney with the best six from McCartney 2 and then we've got a massive winner.

OK, I'll bite: What are your six best tracks from each album?

Whatever the fans think, McCartney 11 is now considered a classic album. The recent reissue was awarded 5 stars by Edinburgh events magazine The List, and it got many excellent reviews elsewhere. I'd absolutely LOVE to hear that Paul was working on a McC III, it would have to be done on his old studio and completely self produced. That would make me very excited.
-
And I think that it would be a smart move, commercially, as well.

MII was way ahead of its time with it blend of synthesizer, echo, and ambient music. I always thought Macca should have released a solo album every 10 years - 1970, 1980, 1990, 2000, etc.
