Paul 's new album

the sooner the better. Have there been any other reviews of it yet?
Are you kidding? Reviews of what? For someone who used to be so prolific, he sure has slowed down. He's gone "From Me To You" to "From Hare To Tortoise" !!!
I don't see anything wrong with that. Really, what's the rush? The man has a massive body of work. And some of his solo albums would have been far better had he taken more time instead of rushing them to release (although I'm sure we'd all disagree on which ones he should have taken more time on!). All of the aging legends are taking, on average, 4 to 6 years between albums. Bowie took 10 years, and got MASSIVE publicity for his his latest album and it STILL didn't sell in huge numbers. I'd rather Paul take his time, make the album great, and release it in a smart way.

You're getting your wish.

I know...the other album thread says it's hot...let's see how hot it actually is!

If the new album is as good as Band On The Run & Chaos And Creation......' then that'll do me.
-
yeah...if only he'd release it already.

left hand man:
From what McCartney, Abe, the producers say, it's definitely rock.
Paul actually said it's pop songs.
-
I bet it won't come out till 2014.

I believe what Paul said was that it would probably be described as an album of pop songs, because that's how his music is usually described...by critics, I would guess he meant. He's probably correct. They like to pigeonhole people, put 'em in a box. Makes it easier for them when it comes time to describe their output.

The actual quote is "I don?t know how to classify them. I guess the worst thing for me would be to call them ?pop songs.? But it?s probably what they are."

My impression is that "pop" is not so much a dirty word in the UK as it is in the US, so that may not be as descriptive as it sounds. "Jet" is pop; it was popular. Still, I would bet against that rumored album title of "Pop Up" just because I think he wouldn't want that stigma.

I'm still expecting 2013, but I don't know, maybe I should back off my earlier prediction of September 24. Elton John and Sting are both now scheduled for that day here in the US. Maybe he will hold off till October after all, Grammy deadline or no. I just have the feeling that he's not going to let the momentum of WOA slow down into another new year. WOA and the summer tour feel like a warm-up to me, reestablishing his vitality as a recording artist. Seems like a great opportunity, too good to waste.

From your lips or finger tips to God's ears, favorite (smiles). I just read elsewhere Paul has a treasure trove of "50 new recorded songs" from the past six years he's been sitting on Sure hope that's true Hope it's time for him to get off that gold mine and let us have an ear candy party. Seems like Macca would be satisfied with at least some of those recordings, enough to release them in an album or two in the near future. I could dig a one-two punch or even a triple header spaced out just a bit, after this very long wait we've endured. An embarrassment of riches
-
If that is indeed the case then trying to pick the dozen best songs in the best sequence would be an immense challenge.

Not sure about the etiquette re quoting posts in other forums but for those who don't visit the Steve Hoffman forums there seems to be a well sourced person who has posted an MPL internal timetable from June detailing a first play of the new single in early September, released mid September with the album in mid October. It mentions tv appearances, and live dates in US, Autralia and the UK
-
I hope this is true.

Nice! This would seem to line up with the prediction of the person in the other thread who cited a six-week promotional push leading up to MAF. I had a feeling he would slip some US and European dates in there, since he skipped many major cities over the summer (including mine, i.e., Philly!).

Going to Oz ? Gotta feeling he really should tour Down Under--Aussies are uber- enthusiastic, appreciative fans and would probably buy a lot of his new album too, if he puts on concerts there. As well as turn out in truly spectacular massive, massive droves at his shows. They've gone so long without seeing him in concert. Man that would really be something, in a lot of ways

It has been 20 years since he was last down under in 1993 and about 12 years since the cancelled Melbourne show fiasco. Hope it happens but wont hold my breath.

Hahaha! We had no idea....
