2016 rumors - new music?

This set should be called Cash Cow...and it's milking fans dry. I'm not buying it.
Can't see too many "fans" buying it as it offers nothing new/of interest? They're probably hoping to sell a few copies at shows this summer...

Well, tomorrow is April 1st, good old April's Fools Day and perhaps this is something to get people wondering, launched prior to April 1 so as to be less obvious, that really doesn't amount to anything other than a dead end wynd (nice old Scots words) or should I say alley. Just some thoughts....

Awful collection. LOL Queenie Eye. Really?? Notice no Rihanaa or Kanye. We are still reeling from those flops and trying to disassociate ourselves from those embarrassments

Boy, Bill, you're such a ray of sunshine on this forum! :

As a couple have pointed out, I'm beginning to think that this is an APRIL'S FOOLS PRANK. As a huge Macca Fan, I've often questioned Paul (and his Advisors) Marketing choices when it comes to his track list choices for his albums, touring to support his albums etc. If this is true with the same track listing as described here, this might be his biggest marketing blunder relative to his music ever. It might even surpass not including Goodnight Tonight and Daytime Nighttime Suffering to the original Back to the Egg Album. Here are just 2 of my misgivings (if this is true) about this project: 1.Why would you include 29 tracks (like 40% of the compilation) that "duplicate" the Archive/Remastering Series that serious Macca fans already have. 2. Why would include 5more tracks from your last album (New) that again serious Macca fans already purchased not that long ago. Now over 50% of the tracks are duplicates and that fans already have been buying over the last few years. Paul, why don't you talk to just a few of the people from here (your Website and true fans) that would be far better than the dimwits you are already paying. I can't speak for all of us, but I would work for you very cheaply. I have already included a compilation in this section that would put a huge stamp on your fantastic 70's output. This recommended 70's compilation is a much better idea than the "Pure McCartney" because it: 1. Doesn't include even 1 track from your Archive / Remastering Series so there is no immediate duplication here. 2. Doesn't even duplicate Wingspan (your previous Greatest hits compilation)to any degree. See my post in the earlier pages. This is a compilation that fans would buy because it doesn't duplicate and it also gives them something "NEW" (previously unreleased or rare material). Don't know how far you are going with the present Archive Remastered Album series but you can then later release a similar 80's/90's Decade Compilation (Without duplication) as you finish this Series. Again, I'm a big fan so I am making these suggestions out of love.

No way am I going to waste my money on this pointless compilation when I can easily make my own from the albums I already own. Had it been 4 x cds of unreleased material then yeah, that would be something that I would have been interested in buying. A wasted opportunity although I suspect that, given his age, this will be the last compilation that Paul will personally supervise.

Compilation CDs are not put together for fans who already have everything. They are for casual fans who are interested in getting more without buying the entire catalog. I'm happy that some people who are casual fans will get to dig a little deeper with this compilation. I may not purchase, but I see no need to whine about it either.

Um, no - unless Amazon is in on the joke http://www.amazon.com/Pure-McCartney-4-CD-Deluxe/dp/B01DN253G2/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1459449205&sr=8-3&keywords=pure+mccartney

I'm wondering if a place like Target will announce an exclusive set, with some added songs, for example? Seems to me I ordered from Amazon before only to learn a few days later of stores offering different versions. Guess we shall see.

Hey, everybody... it's been a long time since I've posted anything, but I wanted to chime in about "Pure McCartney." I have to say, I'm pretty excited about this. I've been thinking for awhile that the best of Paul's recent work (stuff after "Wingspan") needed to be repackaged and promoted. I think they're are a lot of inspired choices on here -- Sing the Changes, Too Much Rain, Good Times Coming/Feel the Sun, Beautiful Night, Winedark Open Sea, etc. It is a little odd that nothing from Flowers in the Dirt was included. My Brave Face, This One, Put It There, and We Got Married would have all been fitting choices in my opinion. Off the Ground is also a little under-represented. As others have said, Hope of Deliverance is fantastic. Looking for Changes and the title track could have also made the cut. Young Boy from Flaming Pie also seems like an obvious choice. I think Girlfriend and Press are odd selections, especially since there are other tracks from those albums (Pipes of Peace and Press to Play) included. In my opinion, those two songs are actually among Paul's very few low points in his career. But, those are minor quibbles. I'm looking forward to listening to this on vinyl, and, as a collector, I'll probably also buy the 4-cd version. Good stuff!

It doesn"t have to be repackaged at all. The albums are all there. It's not too big an ask as a follower of McCartney to purchase his albums at a rate of approx 1 every 3 or 4 years, as they are released or to collect them. I just think this compile is pointless.

Sure, maybe it's not for lifelong fans who own everything or those on a tight budget. But new fans become interested all the time, and this is a great introduction to Paul's solo career. Think how many teenagers and college kids go to his concerts because they know the Beatles. They weren't around to buy McCartney II or Flaming Pie when they came out... this is an ideal sampler platter for them and can make them hungry to appreciate the full albums later on. And for the collectors and hardcore fans who can't get enough, it's a fresh presentation of some of their (our) favorite music that will provide a new listening experience. "And what's wrong with that? I'd like to know."

Teens aren't gonna buy this.

They'll buy it on vinyl in decent numbers, and they'll also stream it a lot. I'm not sure why you'd doubt that. Look around at his concerts. Paul was worshiped at Coachella, Glastonbury, and Lollapalooza by gigantic audiences of young people. Every recent generation of teens have "discovered" the Beatles, and some dig deep and will want to know more about Paul and his solo career. This has been proven over and over again.

Well I enjoy a good whine...

Fair point about new fans arriving all the time, I remember being pretty happy when my dad got me "Beatles Ballads" after he got tired of being bugged Hardly a groundbreaking compilation at the time I guess. Having said that it's strange that a major album like FITD is completely ignored, regardless of the possible technical reasons.
-
To reiterate prudence1964's point: This compilation is not for us. And that's OK. I'm very, very excited because it's the first release of its sort that presents McCartney's post-Beatles work in a truly comprehensive context. This could be a springboard for many good things to follow.
