I recently discovered this piece and think it absolutely deserves to be mentioned here. It's a complete tragedy that this hasn't been released in a studio version...
Most logical indeed.
Much appreciated. For the record, though, I agree with those who say that it's missing something. It feels a bit too repetitive, long-winded, and half-baked. Nonetheless, there's undeniable potential there for it to be phenomenal. If he were to revisit it now as, say, a Fireman track and released it as an ambient/Neo-psychedelic underground track, it could gain considerable attention (so long as there aren't expectations for it to be a commercial hit). I mean, he was able to do more with just a fragment of "When the Wind is Blowing" and morph it into a piggy-backed hit - imagine what a proper reworking of this would be like in a collaborative setting (i.e. Fireman)... Anyone else agree?
No.... your argument is well expressed, but personally I still find the contribution shite. Like, I don't rate it at all. Crapola. A waste of space. Should not be on any "disc" representing a Beatle. But hey, that's just me.
I hear you criticisms and agree that some of his recent collaborative output isn't my cup of tea, which is why I suggested that it be revived as a Fireman track. I think most here can agree that his Fireman work (especially 2008's Electric Arguments) is among his best solo material post Wings... I certainly wouldn't recommend turning a track like that into an R&B or EDM song
All good!... But I gotta ask... what does EDM stand for?.... I fear my Gen X standing is rendering me OOT! (out of touch).... oh, where did the time go.... getting old!

I've heard of EDM - electronic dance music - but OOT is new to me.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but "Flying to My Home" which was a bonus track in the 1993 Flowers in the Dirt updated edition. I think that is the correct tit.e and it struck me as being quite psychedelic. Another song that you wonder why Paul didn't put it on the original album. I like it much better than 3-4 of the below average songs on Flowers. Maybe someone could give us the U-tube video of "Flying to My Home". thanks

There's also a fake video.

Hadn't heard that before! Interesting song...

Struggle from New is quite psychedelic at least too my ears
-
Struggle, yeah maybe. I think there is a light psychedelic shoegaze to "New". I'm fond of psychedelic music so I am glad that he has retained this imaginative aspect since the 60s, when it was fashionable. in recent years there has been a Indie scene of neo-psychedelia, like The Flaming Lips... among others. If you listen to McCartney's albums the last ten years, including (especially) "Electric Arguments" it is obvious that this is something he has picked up and let himself inspire by.

I think Appreciate from New is quite psychedelic. Lots going on in that song! The video with the robot and Paul as a museum exhibit come to life is quite trippy too.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Sgt. Pepper and Apple's recent remix, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to bring back this thread and share some appreciation for how great, underrated, and wonderfully psychedelic "Fixing a Hole" and "Lovely Rita" sound - especially on these remixes... Hope he plays some more Pepper on the new tour dates, but that's for another thread and forum

Thanks Oobu...the Fireman songs are especially psychedelic. The whole of Rushes is psychedelic...I go on jags, where I absolutely love that album...I love to put it on from start to finish. I find it evokes beautiful visions for me. To me, it seems that it must have been written in Arizona, the horses, the desert landscape, I see saguaro cactus...sandstone mesas...the two watercolor guitar pieces paint the landscape with a large brush on wet paper, bright colors and paint following the water and absorbing into the scenery... One of my top albums!!! Definition: The psychedelic is a concept the name of which is derived from the Ancient Greek words psych? (????, "soul") and d?loun (??????, "to make visible, to reveal"), translating to "mind-revealing", or soul revealing... I agree that these songs are very soul revealing. ECCE COR MEUM is very psychedelic

I have all the albums, I just don't know the song titles. Some of the albums I probably only played once, like Rushes. Sorry, not my cup of tea. I remember Road now, as being on New. Need to play that CD again. When it first came out, I played it a lot.
