The Foos gig at Old Trafford has been completely sold out for sometime now, so I wouldn't bother trying to get a ticket.
Thanks for the info. How late do the trains from Manchester to Liverpool work? Will I be able to make it back after the Beach Boys concert, for example?

You're probably best having a look at train information here, Carlos: http://www.thetrainline.com/ I use it all the time to pre-book tickets and check train times.

Thanks! The Beach Boys will be in Manchester on May 27 (Wednesday) at 8 PM at the O2 Appolo: http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/event/36004E28E9B76A67?brand=livenationo2 I have just thought about another possibility: I will be in Liverpool on May 27 around 2 PM. Is there enough time to go to Birmingham, catch Paul's concert that night and return to Liverpool later that night?

the last train looks like it is from Oxford road manchester at 23:27. If the gig ends around 23:00 you should make if to Oxford road station by cab really easy and in time for the train. If it finishes earlier I'd head to Piccadilly for trains around 23:00 hrs look like a few run up until 23:10 from Picc ( Picc is also the nearest station for the Apollo ( the Apollo has a taxi rank directly outside the main doors )

Thank you very much for the info. Another thought has just crossed my mind: I will be in Liverpool on May 27. I should be free around 3 PM. Is there enough time to go to Birmingham, catch Paul's concert and return to Liverpool later that night?

Liverpool to Birmingham around 3pm should not be a problem as its only a 2hr journey on the train. I have no idea about trains back though as I don't know how far the venue is from the train station but if you check the venue for FAQs it might have a few link to train sites etc.

Thank you. I have checked and it seems that the last train runs from Birmingham to Liverpool at 9:36 PM. The ones leaving after 11 PM stop at Crewe for several hours, arriving in Liverpool at 6 or 7 AM.

Did we get any further on organising a meet up either before or after the event? I think it'd be great to head up to the Cavern afterwards!

If you're arranging a meet up there, then you should try and get there really early then because the Cavern is pretty busy anyway, and will no doubt be mobbed on the day of the gig. I'm arranging to meet friends at a restaurant by the Albert Dock for pre-gig food so avoiding The Cavern crush.

It would be nice to get the forum members together. Maybe lunch on the day of the concert? Someone from Liverpool should be able to suggest a few places.

There are lots of restaurants near the Albert Dock (and therefore the arena), but I'd get it booked as soon as possible if you're arranging something. I'm booked into The Pumphouse for dinner with a bunch of fellow Scots already but was told their reservations are filling up already.

Maybe he'll do "Early Days" in Liverpool? It would be fitting.
I was thinking the same thing! I'm hoping for "In Liverpool"though I know it's a long, long, long shot.

But not impossible. He did it at the 2008 concert, right?

I wouldnt have thought you could do the return trip on the same night, our trains are non exsistant come 11pm or so and erlier for longer trips you could stay over of course and come back the next day but that means another hotel etc.

Would it be the day of the concert or the day after that a boardie meet up would happen if it were organised?

I'm fine with either of those dates. I'm also hoping Paul will sing Mull Of Kintyre, as he did in december 2011.
