It's definitely a song that surprised me!
I had been waiting for years to hear it. I like this approach even better than the more authentic album version from '04.
yeah it's my favorite Beatles song and i love love love this arrangement, so i'll give him a pass for I Wanna Be Your Man and My Valentine.
I hope Nancy gets a new song on the new album this fall so "My Valentine" can finally get swapped out...and hopefully "I Wanna Be Your Man" is nixed after this leg. That was a disaster.

oh i agree i dislike both songs (especially I Wanna Be Your Man) and i hope they're dropped, but if they had to be in for YWSM to be in, then I'd keep them

It would be nice to hear a more jubilant song for Nancy.

As I said, I love Paul but this was a relatively weak setlist. Someone made a point that Paul was already in the US Northeast in 2016 for this One-on-One tour. You would think that the ticket holders for the September shows (NY City Market) might be in the best position for a potential setlist shake-up. Paul/Band have the whole month of August off before the 9/11 Newark NJ shows. They do have plenty of time to do some rehearsing if Paul has the desire. If there was ever a time for at least a couple of new songs, this is it.

we have that song. It's called "New" For some reason he has to do both

I started my sign with When we were new!

I love "My Valentine." It's easily my favorite of any Paul song since MAF. He can sing it for me anytime. But I agree with all who applaud "You Won't See Me." Great, unbelievably catchy tune, and it's always nice when Paul does an arrangement that's not a note-for-note recreation of the original.

________________________________________________________ I couldn't agree more with "You Won't See Me". I like this live arrangement better than the original. It is one of the highlights of the show as far as I'm concerned. Too bad he's not doing more songs like this...songs (Beatle and Solo) that haven't been so overplayed.

At my last Paul show I had a sign that said "Don't Look At Me!"

I like My Valentine as a song, but it's honestly a mood killer live. I like the Capitol Records live version

It clears the room. I saw Tom Petty Sunday night here in Baltimore, and the fourth song in the set was introduced as being "from our latest record" and people all around me immediately got up. It was like a zombie apocalypse heading for the bathroom and beer lines. This classic rockers need to stop introducing new songs that way. I didn't know the song, but it fit right in the set and kept the flow. "My Valentine" doesn't keep the flow.

I honestly didn't notice people leaving during "My Valentine" at the show I went to. Or maybe it was just that nobody around me got up. What I did notice was this: The couple next to me (this is 3rd row, center folks) decided to go t-shirt shopping (I overheard them discuss this) as soon as the rising stage started to elevate . . .they never came back . . .never . . .WHO does that???

I've seen people around me sit down, not too many leave.

The couple next to me last night at Tinley. From the VIP seats! Woman left just before Paul took the stage. Her male companion stayed seated the whole time she was gone, which was for several songs. When she returned, she sat down too. They had a conversation which lasted about one song, and then both of them got up and left, never to return! Several songs later, two young guys came with tickets in hand and took over their seats. I don't know if the original couple relocated, or just plain left, but at least they didn't let those seats go to waste. The two guys stood for the rest of the show and had a great time.

Wow! At least the seats were enjoyed by guys that had a great time. I will say that I had more room to jump around when the couple next to me left but still . . .I just couldn't believe it. I can't recall now if they had the swag bags from the VIP pkg. Maybe they got their tickets free somehow and didn't feel like they'd be out anything if they left . . .I've never even taken a bathroom break at a Paul show!

This is one of the many reasons why that whole seated concert/champagne big wig seat practice for a damn rock and roll show is so damn decadent and a slap in the face of the true fans.

I'm hoping you guys aren't talking about me just because I ponied up the cash for a VIP seat

Goodness no. I did soundcheck too (at Tinley). It's the ones that walk out without a clue...and a few others.

Oh good . . .I always wonder why people do that. It's kinda a hassle (not that I mind!) to go to a huge show like that . . .traffic, parking, crowds, etc., so why bother if you're just going to stay for 10 songs and leave?? :

Yeah...you never know. Some of these tickets could be give aways too. Even scalper tickets not sold. Or upgrades like they always do.
