WixRocks!:
Judging by the whopping three pages this thread has accumulated, I'm guessing not too many! But I'll be there!
I feel like I'm the only person here going to the Miami show. It's lonely over there. I'm trying to convince myself that I deserve a road trip and a ticket for Tampa. My checkbook disagrees

I guess the date swap screwed things up for a lot of fans

For those who have seen my Setlist posts, I have been constructively critical of his song selections especially over the last 2 tours...One on One and Out There. Granted I am a big fan of many of his Post Wings' albums/songs. While I believe he has "shortchanged" much of his Solo career, I will quickly come to his defense especially when it comes from a 2 bit music critic. I just saw an article in the Bradenton Herald from a writer named Mary Clear. The article in their Entertainment Section is called "Sir Paul McCartney Brings his One-on-One tour to Amalie Arena" (Tampa). After reading the article, I quickly sent a comment back to the paper defending Paul and some of the things that Mr. Clear said. While I understand it is a subjective article about Paul's music, I just thought it was disrespectful to one of the greatest musicians and songwriters of the last 60 years and considering he is playing in Tampa. While Mr. Clear said that Paul has written some of the greatest and well known songs over the last half century, his article emphasized that Paul has written many of worse songs (his opinion of course) ever. He did it by album. Predictably, he hit on My Love, Silly Love Songs, Ebony & Ivory etc. I went after him when he stated that certain albums (Wildlife, Red Rose Speedway and Back to the Egg) didn't contain one good song. I brought up examples like Tomorrow and Dear Friend from Wildlife and Single Pigeon and Little Lamb Dragonfly from "Speedway". He also stated that "Get It" was the best song on Tug of War compared to the title cut, Take It Away, Wanderlust and Here Today. While "Get It" is a good album track but the best song. Are you kidding me! If anyone sees this article you might want to see my response. Yes, I will be critical of Paul (strictly from a music perspective) but don't let a 2 bit music critic take shots at him.

Kind of funny that the critics three worst songs were all #1 hits - lol. Critic lost all credibility when he stated "Get It" was the best song off "Tug Of War". Sad thing is that most people reading the article might agree which is a shame.

_____________________________________________________________ By the way, the critic's name from the Bradenton Herald is Marty Clear. I got it wrong above. He said that the best song on FITD was Mr Bravc Face (it my memory is correct) and that the worse song on the same album was "We Got Married". I certainly remembered that comment. I think that "We Got Married" is a terrific song and one of my favorites on the album. He also said that Back to the Egg was perhaps worse than Wildlife inferring that there wasn't one good song on "Egg" . How about Getting Closer, Spin It On or Arrow Though Me! Again, I thought the article was quite "disrespectful" to Paul's songs considering a Rock/Pop genius is coming to his home city. ___________________________________________________________ Just a FYI. Reread the article and My Clear said that "You Want Her Too" was the best song on FITD and We Got Married was the worst. I like "You Want Her Too' but I don't think it is better than My Brave Face, Put It There, This One and a few others. I know these are only opinions but he has many that are just way off as I've said. He also called Bluebird the worse song on BOTR. When he calls something "worse" he is basically saying that it is a bad song. On the Beatles side, he called "Fool on the Hill" the worse song on Magical Mystery tour. Pretty absurd in my opinion. More than anything else he writes a whole article about how many Paul songs in his career are just bad songs. Pretty disrespectful but I've seen other critics who are just as bad. Their bias against Paul is so obvious. By the way, his name should be Mr. Foggy rather than Mr. Clear.
