My personal favorite from the Remasters done so far (and by a wide margin) is Band on the Run's Bonus Audio CD. I play this CD from time to time and in my opinion it is great. As most of you know, most of the bonus tracks are live recordings from the One Hand Claping sessions. While some people may argue that these tracks just duplicate what is on the actual studio album, I love the bare bones treatment of the production. For starters, Paul's vocals really are up front. I love his almost primal screaming on songs like Jet, Band on the Run, 1985 and Let Me Roll It. To me, this is Paul at his vocal peak. His rocking voice/screams sounds so natural without a hint of forceness. I also really like the starker version of Bluebird. Howie Casey's Sax is fully heard from beginning to end. More than anything, it gives these "so well known" songs a new freshness. I also like both versions of Country Dreamer...the actual B-side studio single as well as the simple acoustic version. Another great underated song from Paul's massive catalogue. I love Macca's country songs when he tries to immitate a US southerner's drawl (i.e. Rocky Raccoon). How about the way Paul pronounces "Admire". It also crackes me up when he can't remember the words in the acoustic version but keeps playing the notes. All in all, a nice, enjoyable CD to play in the car especially if you have a relatively long drive. If you have never heard it, it is definite worth a try in my opinion. Any feelings on this bonus disc and do you like any of the others as much. thanks

My only complaint about that one is that there is plenty of room available on that disc; why wouldn't they include more (or all) of the One Hand Clapping material songs? There are a handful of nuggets on the video where the audio doesn't exist on CD, so I find myself playing the DVD just to hear the songs. I really like the Ram disc 2. Getting the Another Day/Oh Woman Oh Why single is great, although I already had on CD. I really like Great Cock and Seagull Race, Sunshine Sometime, and A Love For You as outtakes. McCartney 2 is not without its charms as well.

On the original topic, a lot of these bonus discs have much more room on them. Paul seems very focused on only releasing the best of the best, in his opinion, and not cluttering it up with lesser material (although, of course, we fans want it all!). The biggest exception to this is McCartney II, which has all of the unedited tracks as they were originally recorded. I found that very satisfying! Overall, I think the Ram bonus disc is the most enjoyable, though.

The BOTR bonus disc is redundant to me. Worth a separate listen from time to time, but not something you'd play along with the album usually. Ram and McCartney 2... those bonus discs are awesome. They essentially turn those into cohesive double albums, and I've always listened to them that way.

I like the bonus CD of Wings Over San Francisco in Wings Over America, because I was there...at the front of the stage! So that's my favorite.

_______________________________________________________ Iown Hawkeye, Couldn't agree with you and others more. I wished Macca and team would have included a few more Audio Bonus tracks from the One Hand Clapping DVD included in the Band of the Run Remaster. 2 addtions I would especially love are...I'll Give You a Ring and Baby Face. I would guess that I'll Give You a Ring will be an audio bonus track (the single or the One Hand Clapping version) in the Tug of War Remaster (if it ever gets out). Maybe Baby Face, C Moon and Soily will be bonus audio tracks from a Red Rose Snd peedway or Wildlife Remasters. Little Woman Love is already on the Ram bonus CD and Maybe I'm Amazed is on the McCartney Remaster Bonus. Baby Face is especially interesting to me. I think Paul does this old standard better than anybody and yet Paul has never even put this song on an album or single. Love his rocking piano style on Babyface and the song is so suited for his voice. If I remember correctly, the DVD commentary interupts Paul's vocal closing out the DVD which is so annoying to me. I just think Beatle and McCartney fans would love to have Paul's complete version on a CD. Does anyone else really like Paul's Babyface. Should Paul have put Babyface on Kisses or Complete Kisses.

Yes, I do like the way Paul does "Baby Face" there, and I wish we could hear it uninterrupted. Funny thing: I've been trying to collect CDs by some of the Beatles' influences for a while, and in the midst of reading the new Mark Lewisohn book, I was reminded that I didn't have any Little Richard, who was obviously a huge influence on Paul. So I get his greatest hits CD, and of course there's "Long Tall Sally" and "Kansas City" and so many more that John and Paul both sang, but then there's also "Baby Face"! And it turns out to be very similar to the way Paul performs it in One Hand Clapping. Although if Paul had done that song for Kisses, it would certainly have been much different from this! It's kind of hard to guess where he'll put certain bonus material, though. I found it strange that he put much later live versions of McCartney songs on the McCartney bonus disc. And even that "Women Kind" demo is from years later, though it may have been written by 1970.

I'd say that the bonus CDs on BOTR and WOA are close to running a tie for 1st place in terms of one single bonus disk, while Ram gets my vote for the best complete package, for those who buy the full elaborate set from the archive releases...admittedly Ram is the only one that I splurged on the full shebang...but I've heard via youtube what I'm missing from only buying the cheaper CD+ 1 bonus disk versions of the other releases and I stand by my comment that Ram is the best full set

I've noticed that no one has mentioned Country Dreamer. I love this countryish song. Like the lyrics too. What I love about Macca is how diverse his material is. You could have a whole great album of Paul's American country style songs. Another unreleased song I love is "Wings on a Nightingale". Maybe someday Paul will do another Accoustic Show. How great would it be to hear these two tracks performed. What do you think of Country Dreamer? Do you have a preference over the 2 versions presented on the Bonus Audio disc. While I really like the studio, fully enhanced B-Side, I love the simplicity of the acoustic version. In the Band on the Run Book, they say that the latter track on the disc is from One Hand Clapping although we don't see Paul's performance on the Bonus DVD featuring One Hand Clapping. Is that kind of strange? Anyway, I like both versions very much.

Yes, I do like that song, and I feel the same way as you do about the two different versions. You're absolutely right that there could be a whole compilation of songs in this style by Paul. Personally, I think if he did a whole new album in that style, it would do really well. Especially here in America, we seem to love it when an older artist reaches back to a traditional, rootsy kind of sound.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but I don't think Oh Woman Oh Why was performed in the One Hand Clapping sessions. I only know of the one version that's on the b-side of Another Day, although I do believe it's one of his more under-rated songs, he's never released a live version of any sort.

I think Joao was just listing individual tracks he likes from the bonus discs in general, since obviously "Another Day" and "A Love For You" are not in One Hand Clapping either, and neither is "Helen Wheels." So he's just mentioning the version of "Let Me Roll It" that's in One Hand Clapping, correct?
