Remasters schedule is a joke.

That said, I really wouldn't mind if he'd take a long break from talking about the Beatles for all of 2013.
Hear hear. But if his recent Al Jazeera interview with David Frost is anything to go by (plus the last 30 years or so), I doubt that's going to happen.
But you really have to blame that mostly on David Frost, who only seemed to want to talk Beatles -- as is true of most mainstream writers and interviewers. The only good interviews I've read with Paul in the last few years were done by alternative media outlets -- like Drowned in Sound, Pitchfork, AV Club, The Quietus. They're the only ones who ask unusual questions, and talk about his solo work. Sometimes with those alternative sites, Paul goes off on a Beatles tangent : but usually those interviewers get him back on track. But the mainstream press only wants to talk Beatles with him 24/7.

And you guys care about re-issues, why? All the albums are available somewhere if you want them. I hope they never re-issue another CD ever. Just my 2 cents.
I think that the reality is that PAUL cares about them, especially since the critics are suddenly in love with the albums that, when released, weren't always shown much love. Since the first remaster(s) got so much positive attention, I knew we were going to get the rest, no matter what. His career is winding down as he hits 70, not that he's stopping, mind you, but in reality how much more are we going to get? He's wanting to boost up his legacy, and who can blame him? The one area he's not being slagged off in is the remasters, so why would he walk away from that project?
I think you hit the nail on the head with your post. I loved Ram but I remember how for decades it got made fun of and I didn't understand why. Now, a lot about Paul has been vindicated.

Some of the video has been worse than what has been circulating for ages.

I'm quite happy with the schedule. I need the time to save up for them all.

Well, interesting discussion here. Whatever Paul wants to do is fine with me. I like the originals myself. I am quite deaf from years of listening to LOUD rock and roll, so I doubt that I could tell much difference between remixed, remastered, rewat'sit. If others want them , good for them. If Paul puts out a new CD with new music, I will listen and hopefully enjoy it. I have, after all, enjoyed many many of his albums. I mostly hope Paul is happy and enjoying whatever he is doing. I love the man.

There is another article up now in another thread about Concord music being up for sale. Please tell me this won't derail the whole thing. I realize pure speculation on my part, of course. Still, why not just get it all out there over a 1 to 2 year period instead of what has been happening?

I read those stories and was wondering too how the Concord sale had affected the remasters schedule. I think it's entirely likely that Concord and MPL held off on any more reissues knowing that this sale was coming down the pike. One story I read said Simon Fuller (the British music entrepreneur best known for the American Idol shows) wanted to buy both Concord and Parlophone. That would be interesting if, after all these years, Paul ends up back at Parlophone, or at least in a company that includes Parlophone.

A cover-band, that is.

I guess I'll put my 2 cents in. As much as I enjoy listening to Paul's latest material, I didn't start to experience his catalogue until only a few years ago. I always loved the Beatles, so this was a journey that I felt would be enjoyable to listen through. The problem is ... you can't buy Venus And Mars, At The Speed Of Sound, London Town or any of the later albums unless you want a 1993 remaster. I suppose that suits some but I've always felt the Capitol discs have had a superiority them in sound. Whether or not I want to fork over $35 per disc is certainly another story... But yes, I'm glad we are finally getting reissues. It's ridiculous that an artist of his magnitude isn't steadily available to buy at a reasonable price. That said, I too agree that this pace is rather prehistoric. I hope we get at least 2 for the next launch ...

If he is back with Parlophone (or a related company...) I hope they will actually promote all of his material.

Playing a few songs from the featured re-release in concert could possibly help the sales figures a bit. Band on the run, Jet, 1985 and Mrs Vandebilt featured in the setlist at the time when "Band on the Run" was re-released. Maybe I'm amazed has featured regularly on this tour. Every night played only once or twice. Nothing from "McCII" or "Ram" has been played. (apart from an occasional Ram on). I simply don't understand why a couple of songs from the current re-release can't be worked into the setlist. It makes no sense at all!
I agree. He could of re-added "Too Many People" and or "Coming Up" to his setlists, and dropped "Ms Vandebilt", however I don't mind "1985", and its still a nice add. But I also wonder if he plans on remaster his 80's and 90's albums as well?

I would hope so. I think also adding 2 or 3 songs from the current remastered cd out would help sales. Besides, there will still be plenty of people hearing Hey Jude, etc......... So why not add those (new to the setlist) songs.

People want the old Paul McCartney and Wings albums to be released again so they can finally get the mastering right and at least close to what the original LPs sounded like and for the chance of unreleased material to come out exclusively through the reissues as well as releasing and remastering the old Single B-sides. At least that's what I want the old albums released again, for better mastering and the chance of getting exclusive outtakes and live tracks that may have never been bootlegged or released unless Paul did an "Anthology" thing like The Beatles. I wonder if the reason why Paul/MPL or Hear Music haven't released or have worked on any new remasters now is because of the sales of that Deluxe Book Edition of "McCartney II" which really shouldn't have been released (since I never considered the album itself "that good" for that treatment, what's wrong with the Special Edition digi?) That and I just love the digipak Special Editions, for their packaging, the bonus material and they just look so much better and are smaller sized than the Universal Deluxe digipak releases, without taking too much space. Paul/Hear Music/Concord, Please release more Remasters and Special Editions and get the mastering done for whatever album is next as soon as possible.

Exactly! Do fans want Paul's catalogue to remain on thin, flat-sounding CDs when most of his contemporaries are represented with pristine, rich-sounding remasters, complete with a host of unreleased material and rarities? What I can't understand about the grindingly slow remasters schedule is that it doesn't make commercial sense. As Paul seems disinterested in promoting his solo catalogue properly (BOTR aside), either in interviews or on stage, he's not going to pick up many new fans and the potential market for these albums will only shrink over time. I'm not being flippant when I say that a lot of people eagerly awaiting these releases will not be around by the time Paul/MPL/Hear Music gets to putting out later albums like 'Flaming Pie' and 'Driving Rain'!
