New "Beatles songs"
-
I´d like to suggest that Paul McCartney could make "new Beatles songs" by making something similar to what the three Beatles did with "Free as a Bird", but with songs already published by Lennon and Harrison. Paul could elaborate with voices and instruments, and Ringo with drums and voices, so that many Lennon and Harrison solo career songs would be upgraded to be "Beatles songs". It would be fascinating!!!

Nice idea, but if The Beatles had not broken up, none of their solo albums would have been made. Leave well enough alone!
-
Like Yoko would let Paul do that!! Or Olivia for that matter.
-
what's in the past is in the past leave well enough alone. I am sure that Paul or Ringo wouldn't be interested in recreating beatles songs in this day and time. besides there are no Beatles without John and George. trying to release songs without those two singing would be absolutely ridiculous.

The only "new" Beatles songs I want to hear are the last remaining ones in the vault: Carnival of Light, the 27-minute Helter Skelter, Etcetera, and a handful of others.

There does seem to be a cottage industry in "Beatleizing" this demo of John's, though...

A shame John only demoed into the cassette recorder on his piano. All the Dakota demos sound like they're telephoned in. To me the biggest shame is that Nobody Told Me was released on Milk and Honey. If only Yoko had kept that in the vault. Fast forward to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, she slips Paul a cassette with that on it and tells him The Beatles can work with it. Oh man. Such a great John song. Imagine studio quality John vocals backed by the others. Now THAT would have been a monster, monster Beatles reunion song...typically sardonic John lyrics. And rope in Mr Martin and NOT Jeff Lynne to "produce."

I don't think it would make sense to have Paul and Ringo "Beatlize" every incomplete demo John and George had left into one big, discordant album. The concept would indeed be interesting, but I highly doubt it would be worth listening to... The only thing I think would be worth doing in that area - and worth selling, for that matter - would be to have Apple digitally remaster the entire Anthology series (as they did on iTunes), re-release it on CD (and maybe limited vinyl pressings) in lp-like cases as they did with the '09 releases and include a completed Now and Then on Anthology 3. Maybe they could also include a box-set option containing all three double albums together with some kind of collectable merchandise added on (e.g. a shirt, poster, etc). A more creative option would be to have Apple release a brand new "Greatest Hits" album of all the solo Beatles (remastered, of course) that could serve as an introductory album for new Beatles fans who are curious about delving into their individual careers, but don't know where to start. They could have a delux edition that includes a bonus disc of post-breakup Beatles collaborations and include the Anthology tracks with a completed Now and Then . For the record, I think Now and Then was by far the best track on that cassette that they had to work with and I often wonder what the others could have done with it... Also, any of these projects should be overseen by Giles Martin, who did a fantastic job on LOVE with his dad.

Mr. Spock I nominate you for this job. Make it so!
