whoa! What a great seat you had! Thanks for posting those pics!

Snarky remark but Jimmy Kimmel doesn't appear to have much, if any, charisma and I wondered how he got his gig. He seemed lacking in perkiness, wit, and spark. But then, he admitted he stayed up all night partying at the Emmys after-parties. You sure could tell it. He dragged around like he was half-dead.

Thanks, oobu24! I had quite the experience last night! I got access backstage during the show. Met all the guys in the band (I had met Rusty and Brian before last night, and they remembered me! And finally met Abe and Wix!). Missed Paul, though! Lots of yummy veggie food, open bar and primo seats for the concert! It was a great show! Vocally, I thought Paul was very on. I thought he sounded much better singing "New" than he did at the iHeartRadio Festival. Also nice hearing "Jet" again. It's first appearance in a set this year! Definitely an unforgettable night!

snarky no sleep comment here. I know Guiness was the sponsor but I'm surprised Paul had no problem with that given they're not vegetarian. I mean, there's rumors he wouldn't allow hot dog billboards at certain stadiums. I guess he just didn't want to stand up to beer

Drummer Abe Laboriel Jr.'s famous rock star uncle Johnny Laboriel (famous in Latin America) had just died, and Abe was up there last night pounding the skins with his usual enthusiasm and great vigor--he's a trooper.

Does one have to sign into myspace to view it? Myspace sucks.
No, just go to the link and there's a countdown clock to the start of the feed. FYI, this is part of a supposed relaunch of MySpace. We'll see how that goes.
What myspace lacks that FB didnt (Besides a staff that actually helps me with my online problems I can contact where as myspace wanted me to send them a photo through my phone of me holding a poster with a number on it from my screen) is a newsfeed. The newsfeed enables me to interact with those that friend me. myspace had little interaction with the people you friended except direct contact through PMs.

Glad to see Paul kept the three new songs in the set last night. That bodes well for the Japanese dates. Three is great! Four or five would be amazing. I have to hand it to McCartney, no one can say he is not putting his all into promoting this NEW CD.

I hope it pays off for him commercially.

I agree, really like the three songs but a couple more would be wonderful.

Susy, I felt exactly the same way. I have never seen his show until Paul's appearance and he did seem like he was sleep-walking. Your theory about the late night before might be right. Anyway, like you I thought the 2 songs on TV were great. When he started Lady Madonna I wasn't excited but he really nailed it. Had a good vibe after "New".
-
I loved the way he sang HAPPY BIRTHDAY to ME! (actually, I bet it was for Linda today). What a great live stream! Anyway find a good set of pix that don't have Getty Images printed over them?

My line that made me laugh out loud was when Jimmy asked Paul about any 'regular job' he had before becoming famous & Paul told a story about being a second lorry driver &
Paul said he'd had 2 "regular" jobs and I think he was about to say what the second one was after the lorry driver story, but Jimmy cut him off to go into commercial break. Too bad! Was surprised at how long the post-show concert really was; I figured only 2 songs would get shown on TV, and expected just a few more songs on the MySpace stream, but he really did quite a nice mini-concert! sharonla, thanks for sharing your story about attending the taping - what a great day!

Spoeedy Prompt Delivery Truck! The question probably came from the pre-interview as one of the songs on New "On My Way to Work" is about Paul's days with SPD....

We (my husband, 2 kids and I) were at both the inside show taping and the concert--what an experience!! We got into our line in the alley behind the theater at around 3:00. Paul arrived at around 3:20, and he stopped and waved to everyone in line. The audience was supposed to be let in at 4:30, but it was more like 5:15 when they let us in. There were only around 15 people in front of us in the regular line, but the radio winners, vip's, and priority line went in before us. After we got in, only about 15 more people were let in to the show, although there were at least 100 people behind us in line. They let us go to the restroom, and when I did, I saw Abe, and met Guillermo lol. The excitement inside kept building. At one point they asked who had seem Paul in concert before, and the vast majority of people had never seen him before. But there were also a few die-hard fans in the audience. The show began (really fun), and when Jimmy did a sketch with Guillermo about Beatles lyrics, Paul came out for a few seconds. The crowd went wild. Most of what we saw at the taping was shown on tv, except for a few extras. We were told vernot to stand at all during the show, but we all stood and gave Paul a standing ovation when he came out. Jimmy mentioned this in the show. Jimmy's parents were in the audience, just to see Paul, and during a commercial break Jimmy introduced his parents to Paul. During other commercial breaks, Kimmel and Paul people surrounded Paul and Jimmy, but Paul did interact with the audience. He was absolutely charming as usual! After Paul's segments were over, Patrick Demsey came out, and he was great too. But of course, even though I'm a fan of his, I couldn't wait to get to the concert. As soon as Demsey's segment was over, they escorted us outside to the front section. We waited for a short time, and then the concert began. We were really close, and it was fantastic. Great to hear the new songs live! Sorry I don't have more details--I'm exhausted from moving my daughter into the dorms at college. She missed an entire day of mandatory events at her dorm today, but couldn't care less because she got to see Paul today!
that is so cool sharon how did u get ur entirebfamily into the taping? Wow when I signed up right away all I saw was the gig I wasvin the first group of general

Paul wasn't kidding about the sleeping bit on his delivery job: he actually got fired for sleeping on the job! I think he lasted about 2 weeks there. The other job was winding metal coils in a factory. That didn't last long, either; the group started playing gigs again after that little first post-Hamburg depression. Great hearing stories right from the source Would love to hear him tell more! I always like how he manages to mention John and George in everything. I often think if circumstances were reversed, would John and/or George be doing tributes to Paul in their concerts, or talking kindly of him in interviews, etc.? Doubt it. Just another facet of Paul I love him for.

I pictured it more like this: Podgie (the Speedy Prompt) Monkey

Now that is really a cute cool sight Bless 'im, he had sort of a hard life sometimes starting out in working class scruffy gritty Liddypool. Quite wonderful too with all the warm close-knit rels... brother, daddy, all the cousins, aunties and uncles, and grans and maybe great grans. And loads of boyhood mates (and girlfriends) including some who became like him "kind of" famous. Might have been difficult for him to feel really lonely in that big Pool

Just saw a review on last night's show in the LA Times by Pop Critic, Randal Roberts. It was quite complementary on Paul's showmanship. He concentrated on the Beatle but did say in the last paragraph that he liked "New". Didn't mention Save Us or Everybody Out There. If someone knows how to bring this review up, members I'm sure would be interested. Mr. Randall mentioned that he always thought that Ob-La-Di was one of the Beatles' worse songs, but admitted that last night even that song sounded pretty good.
