Funny with us discussing solo songs...on our local Breakfast with The Beatles (WXRT-Chicago) they just played Spinning on an Axis. I was shocked...although she does play a FULL range of songs!
I had to Google that song. I remember the title, but had no idea what album it was on or how the song went! ops:
That's why I included a youtube link.
I clicked on the link, but before playing the song I Googled it.

Now there are 2 months of stop, so I hope in a couple a new add for the US tour. There is time to rehearse!

Maybe even a new single/album by then

I believe there will be a single this month (or very lately, in June) and the album in August Then he could play the single in live in July (with maybe an other new song) and start the promotion of the album in September and October

Potentially Flowers in the Dirt as well. He was asked about performing it live & said they didn't have time to rehearse it & said we'll see about later. It'll be a nice change if he actually does play songs from FITD

Really - lol. How long would it take him and his touring band for over a decade to rehearse a couple of songs from FITD ?

________________________________________________________ I didn't realize that Paul has a 2 month gap between the Japan Shows and the US dates. That gives him a good amount of time to spruce up the Setlist. There is still hope for an improved and better balanced show. Just hope he or someone close to him can realize that the overwhelming majority of the US audience are boomers (60 and older). For the non Beatle part of the setlist, the songs with mature and heartfelt lyrics are perfect for his audience. Even if the majority are not hard core Paul fans and may not instantly recognize the songs, they can still relate to the message of songs like Put It There, Little Willow or This One. And these are great songs and songs that Paul should be proud to play. I just never understood why he avoids his solo songs as much as he does. I have no problem and totally understand a 60% Beatles' setlist (approximately) but how do you ignore great songs that he wrote in his mid-age/older years. Let's keep our fingers crossed that the right people are reading the suggestions from true fans from his own website. We are not throwing out obscure type choices but great songs that casual Beatle/Paul fans should know. More for his legacy than anything else, you would think that Paul would be motivated to help that happen.

BJ, he had even longer than 2 month gap between his last show and the Japan shows. There is no reason he could not have had at least two FITD songs in Japan set list, lets face it when it comes to this he is complacent. People may not know a song like "Little Willow" but he could dedicate it to Maureen Starkey's memory. Once he played it, I am quite sure the audience would be moved by the song. Honestly, why do re-issue of FITD if you are not going to promote it at all during your concerts. How many people outside this board are even aware of the re-issue? As for his legacy, I think he is perfectly happy with being remembered as Beatle Paul and starting Wings. I don't think he cares one bit about his solo records being remembered unless it means money in his or his family's pocket.

I think the better question would be "what is the prediction for the second song for the US shows that follow A Hard Days Night?

maybe he'll do MMT? I don't see V&M in the forecast, but go ahead and prove me wrong!

Perhaps something off FITD until the new cd is released??

Haha! I laughed at that one. Thats probably very true. I think the days of Setlist B having Magical Mystery Tour are over. I did like Eight Days a Week for Out There. That would be a great alternative.

I think it's possible we could see different openers...maybe not every single night. I think he'll open MSG with "Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet". It would totally go down with the crowd and I'd be really pumped to hear it a second time, especially AT Madison Square Garden. I could see him maybe throwing in one other opener...probably "Magical Mystery Tour" on one night just so that there aren't FIVE (if we're counting Syracuse) shows within an abnormally close distance, and with MANY scathing reporters who are probably eagerly waiting for him to trip, that start off the same way...and that's without considering some other possible changes from night to night. Nothing big of course...

I find it to be no coincidence that he started playing V&M on the very tour that found him visiting the Hollywood Bowl. This is his first time at Madison Square Garden since the band started doing the number, and it also gets name dropped in the chorus. I think it's a realistic guess, and I'd be a bit surprised if it doesn't happen.

Agreed. I'd be more surprised if it didnt happen. I'll be setlist watching that night!

Just please do V&M/Rock Show at every venue! Then segue into Jet! I'd be in heaven - shades of 1976 and being 21 years old again!
