2017 Setlist Speculation Thread

If he even does ONE of them, I'll be stunned. Singing "My Brave Face" in 2017 as the second song, is not a wise idea. At every show I've seen since 2012, it has taken Paul the entire opening electric set to warm up. Then he usually overdoes it with "Maybe I'm Amazed" and then he's okay for the rest of the set...until the encores, where he seems to save all the songs that are hard to sing... Anyway- in order to get the best out of your Sir Paul for "My Brave Face", pre-heat for approximately twenty minutes (or four songs) and be sure to allot for time to drink it all in.......

Haha makes sense. But wether it's a solo song (like it usually has been forever) like "Save Us" or "My Brave Face," the audience won't be familiar with it anyway. It's not like people are going to go to the bathroom second *fast* song in the show. People just deal with the second solo song they don't really know anyway...they save their bathroom runs for "Myy Valentine." Lol

How about this: Temporary Secretary < This One In Spite of All The Danger < Put it There Jet/Save Us < My Brave Face move Jet: Letting Go = Jet (alternation)
YES, YES, YES, YES. I always pictured the intro to "My Brave Face" after "A Hard Days Night."
right? If he did those three (or even one), it would be enough to please me for solo work, knowing it's the best we'll get (I'll take This One over FourFiveSeconds any day!)
Agree. If he did any of them, I would be pleased with solo work as well!

You guys and your bathroom runs! I have been to many many concerts starting in 1970 and the only time I ever went to pee was in 1974 during Ravi Shankar's Indian music during George's concert!
-
My Brave Face could work well in the second electric set as well
-
I've only had to leave during a Paul concert twice...and both were due to my persistence in drinking a much larger drink than I should have I missed the beginning of "Day Tripper" at FedEx Field (bolted out as soon as Hey Jude was done) and I missed Band on The Run on the 2nd night in DC last year...you could say I was Bladder on the run... But back to the setlist! ops: Paul could pretty much get away with murder on the second song. BUT it has to be uptempo and there needs to be little to no gap between the first and second song, that's why "Save Us" works. It's basically functioning as a three minute recovery period for seeing Paul McCartney (probably for the first time) and hearing "A Hard Day's Night" by one half of its creative team.

Agreed, but I can't see him dropping anything over it except MAYBE mr. kite, but that won't be going anywhere this year.

he could put it where I Wanna Be Your Man is in the set now- right before Kite.

Wix, you are on fire tonight! "Bladder on the run!" It helps that I don't drink and I go right before the show starts! Trying to think what I would like him to open with. 2013 and 2014 was Eight Days A Week This is the tour I missed in 2005 with Magical Mystery Tour as the opener: https://www.paulmccartney.com/live/atlanta-0 2002 was Hello Goodbye which was cool. 1993 was Drive My Car 1990 was Figure Of Eight 1976 was Venus and Mars/Rock Show/Jet which would be to die for in 2017!

Duh- of course. I think I've been trying to mentally pretend like that isn't actually happening and in the year 2017 he's not wasting a slot in the show on a mediocre tune they threw away to the stones and Ringo

I swear that I'd rather him play FourFiveSeconds twice than I Wanna Be Your Man

As for openers? I know I'm in the minority here, but I would go beyond ecstatic if he brought back "Hello, Goodbye". That tune was huge and I've NEVER heard it live. I think it is an incredible opener and in recent years, it hasn't been showcased with any regularity. It cropped up now and then during the "On The Run" tour, but I never managed to hear it...got MMT both times, and was very happy about it too! I suspect the summer dates will still get "A Hard Day's Night", and that's fine. None of those cities have heard it live...ever. But, I think we'll get a little more variety with the NYC spread in the fall...for example, I'm crossing all fingers and toes to be able to sing "Long hair, out at Madison square" as my hair whips about Madison Square Garden probably from the second to last row behind the stage, if I can even get those seats.

agreed. How about Mrs Vanderbilt > FourFiveSeconds? Mrs Vanderbilt took a rest and deserves to come back. It's been a while, and is a fun song for a show

Below is a copy and paste of what I posted in another forum here, it seems to fit the topic of this thread... I think Paul has tried to change his set list off and on, and test a different song here and there, but sometimes audiences don't appear enthusiastic. A friend of mine was at his KC concert in 2014 and said whenever he did some different songs, slower and less familiar but still beautiful nonetheless, that was the time when people in the audience got up and walked around, went to the bathroom or to get snacks and drinks or to chat loudly with their friends, etc. (Thought that was rude and disrespectful of them by the way! And also, if I've paid good money for a chance to see Paul, I wouldn't be able to leave my seat! And would enjoy hearing any of his music he'd like to share.) But my point is, when an artist sees that kind of a reaction (how could he not notice!) it may be more comfortable to stick with routine and what will bring the best audience reactions, which is too bad. Anyway, just my opinion.

https://live.line.me/channels/73/broadcast/2714854 Minute 15:20 Someone asks Paul wether he'll be playing any some from Flowers in The Dirt on this tour leg, and he says that they planned to do so, but they haven't rehearsed it yet.

Translation: he can't be shagged.

Anyone seen a set list of what he sang in Japan?

Totally agree. Why is he even doing I Wanna Be Your Man? FourFive, I can see why...just to be hip. Doing a song that Kanye & rhinna were involved with. But he can get rid of them both.

Shit, just realised he truly dropped 'Here, There and Everywhere'. He makes all the wrong decisions to add or drop lol...
