2017 Setlist Speculation Thread

Nancy R:
I know! I could kick myself for not shelling out the money to go!!
I saw him on that tour in Chicago. Here's the pre-show movie on Jimmymccullochfan's page:

It's such a shame he couldn't sing Getting Closer anymore. Would've made a great addition for the first electric set 5-10 years ago.

It's a shame that he performed ~90 % of the setlist in autopilot instead to give us lot's surprises... Songs like Backseat of my car, Cafe on the left bank, With a little luck, Goodnight tonight, Old Saim Sir, Take it away, Wanderlust, Only love remains etc... etc...)

he could still pull off Goodnight Tonight and Take It Away... the rest, though...maybe not

Penny Lane is top of my list. PERIOD. That is the Number One song he has done over the years that I haven't heard...and yes, I know he is notorious for not reaching the notes, flubbing the bass line, and missing the lyrics but I don't care. It is Penny Frickin' Lane and I need to hear Paul sing it in person before one of us dies.
Of course he sang it during the one tour I missed, 2005! https://www.paulmccartney.com/live/atlanta-0 That was a great set list!
Thought he did "Penny Lane" in 1993 also.

So many great songs on that tour that haven't been back since. I know some people here have probably heard a lot of these but I would be ecstatic if any of these came back as I've never heard them: I'll Get You Fine Line For No one Fixing a Hole English Tea I'll Follow The Sun Follow Me Too Many People She Came in Through The Bathroom Window Good Day Sunshine PENNY LANE ...and Please, Please Me! ...phew!
Well, he is playing Japan after not being on the road for several months. The new album appears that it is not done so no songs from it probably. Will be interesting to see if he mixes set list up a bit and you get some of the songs you would like. People can't say Mr. McCartney did not have time to rehearse a bunch of different songs. Guess we will see in a few days if it is the same old songs.

Sorry, yes, you are correct. I did see him that year. https://www.paulmccartney.com/live/atlanta-3

Any guesses for songs that might be added to the setlist this Tuesday?

Realistic: Drive My Car, Junior's Farm, Jet, I've Just Seen A Face, All My Loving, Got to Get You Into My Life, Why Don't We Do It In The Road, Chuck Berry tribute of some sort (even if it's just a song dedication), Lovely Rita Less Realistic but possible: Penny Lane, Your Mother Should Know, Mrs Vanderbilt, Bluebird, Coming Up, Things We Said Today, I'll Follow The Sun predictions: Temporary Secretary is out, Save Us is out, Can't Buy Me Love is swapped with something, even if it shows up elsewhere, either New or Queenie Eye is out, an extra pepper tune

So you don't expect any new surprises? Another Wings/Solo added to the set?
-
I don't think we'll even get that. MAYBE one surprise...if that.
-
the only Wings / Solo I could possibly see added are something like Backseat of My Car in a lower key. I would love to see him do something like Love in Song or Mamunia, but it won't happen at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if he plays Helen Wheels eventually, but probably couldn't sing it at this point. It could be a nice song for the Letting Go/Jet slot in Set 1 or the Hi, Hi, HI spot in the encore

________________________________________________ Don't know if Paul is doing the US Northeast this year, but if he did 4 or 5 of the Beatle songs on the list above (along with "I Will") then I might consider going. I didn't go to any of the US Northeast shows last year because the Setlist as a whole didn't excite me. Hard Day's Night as an opener and You Won't See Me would have been very nice to see but too many duplications otherwise. Not much of a fan of Temporary Secretary, or Four Five Seconds and he continued to do the same "New" album songs. On his past tours, he doesn't seem to get behind any of his Solo Reissues/Remasters so I doubt he would do anything from FITD. I personally would love any Solo additions but again, he seems to cater to the Beatles' audience. While I would be shocked, let me throw out one song from the new FITD Reissue package that I think his 2017 voice could handle. Paul loves to go back to the Rockabilly period and last year he did "In Spite of All the Danger". How about for a total surprise as a non-Beatle addition that Rockabilly sounding song : Twenty Fine Fingers The Band could provide the harmonies and I think Paul would sound good.

Just a "gut feeling", but I think we'll be pleasantly surprised by Paul's set list in Japan this time around.

I doubt this means anything, but per Fans on the Run they posted a pic of paul and nancy wearing Wings jackets in Japan with the caption "and the theme is WINGS"

That probably means her outfit theme is Wings.

_______________________________________________________ Maybe we could get 3-4 songs from London Town and Back to the Egg. At least that would bring some excitement.

Dream On as Aerosmith would say. (But any changes are welcome!)

Girls School is an option as well. And I can see him playing My Brave Face, his voice can handle that

This frist line could be "Juniors Farm"? followed of course by WINGS and than maybe a year + a unreadable rest.
