2017 Setlist Speculation Thread

Maybe Paul will make a tribute to Fats Domino in the mexican concert. Which song would you choose?
I believe in the 1989 tour he did "Ain't That A Shame" so maybe he would play that one again.
-
Probably! But I would like to hear "Coquette" from "Run devil run" album!!
-
A tribute song to Fats Domino would be great! "Kansas City" is another song he does really well, that he's performed since his Beatle days - he has the perfect voice for it! He usually just likes to perform that when he's actually in Kansas City though... but he did make an exception in 1997 at the concert for Montsserat. He really rocked that song in this video clip from that event.
Would also love to hear him sing Wanderlust, This One, Cosmically Conscious and so many others, but was just glad to be able to see him in concert, and was happy hearing whatever he wanted to sing for us! -

I would have said â??he doesnâ??t have the voice for that nowâ? were it not for his attempt at Long Tall Sally with a Dave Grohl a while back. Heâ??s clearly still happy to go for anything ð???

Is this the performance of "Long Tally Sally" you're thinking of? Paul is in Seattle, 2013, with David Grohl playing drums.
Thought Paul did a great job with this! Thanks for mentioning about it. He could do Long Tall Sally as part of a setlist too, if he ever is considering variations/songs to add. -

________________________________________________________ So many tribute songs he could do for Fats Domino. Corchians mentioned Coquette from Run Devil Run and that would certainly be a good one. I was a big fan of Fats and I had never heard Coquette until Paul covered it. My Mom loved Fats Domino so that is where my love for his songs originated. Some of the songs that I would love Paul to cover in Mexico are: *Blueberry Hill - Mr. Domino's most famous song and Paul could probably sing it well. *Ain't That a Shame - As Yankeefan pointed out, Paul did this on his 1989-1990 tour so I would prefer he do a different one this time * Walking to New Orleans - another famous one that I think Paul could do well. * Blue Monday - another bluesy one that would be a good choice * My Girl Josephine - a deeper cut that I would love Paul to do * Let the Four Winds Blow - another deeper cut that has that great "bounce" to it that I would love Paul to do * My Blue Heaven - another great jazzy, bluesy one that would be a nice surprise We'll have to wait and see but it will be interesting for sure. Even though some of us have been pushing for Paul to do more really good Solo songs, at least a Fats Domino cover would help shake up this "tiresome" setlist. There's at least a dozen current setlist songs (non-signature ones) that I personally feel should go so I would love at least to see a youtube video of Paul doing a brand new "cover" in Mexico. Any of the songs above would be quite good in my opinion. Typically Fats Domino songs would be relatively easy for Paul to sing relative to his 75 year old voice.

It will be 'Lady Madonna' with a short introduction...
-
Paul could be sing a Fats Domino songs also during the soundcheck..

"Rest in peace Fats Domino, the great rock 'n' roll pianist and singer who thrilled us in our early days in Liverpool. His hit records like 'Ain't That A Shame', 'Blueberry Hill', 'I'm In Love Again' and many others introduced us to the sounds of New Orleans rock 'n' roll. We were excited to meet Fats once in his home town of New Orleans. He was wearing a huge star spangled diamond encrusted watch which was our first encounter with bling! His voice, piano playing and musical style was a huge influence on us and his appearance in the film 'The Girl Can't Help It' was truly magnificent. As one of my favourite rock 'n' roll singers, I will remember him fondly and always think of him with that twinkle in his eye. I read that he had eight children. He himself was named Antoine. His kids were named Antoine III, Anatole, Andre, Antonio, Antoinette, Andrea, Anola and Adonica. Now that is pure Fats!" - Paul https://www.paulmccartney.com/news-blogs/news/paul-on-fats-domino

I knew he'd mention the watch! I also think a mention before Lady Madonna seems most likely, along with a song or two during soundcheck.

But he gotta rehearse for that. That moment isn't until 2019, for the 7 new songs for the obligated new tour name.

Yes, he did. It was quite fun. I could see him doing that song at a soundcheck. I don't know if he would put it into the regular setlist tho.

Maybe he's gonna bring back some songs from the early One on One setlist, or even from Out There in Australia, like: Dance Tonight (he played it at Budokan 2015 after all) Lovely Rita Your Mother Should Know Letting Go Listen to What The Man Said Here There and Everywhere I've Just Seen a Face Magical Mystery Tour Hope For The Future Everybody Out There Another Day Hope of Deliverance (in souvenir of 1993, and #1 in the charts in 93) Another Girl Things We Said Today Mull Of kintyre (is there a Pipe Band in Australia?) Those guys never saw Paul since 1993, he must give them some surprise (let's hope Ode to a Koala Bear!)

Paul will probably mention him with "Lady Madonna" during this string of dates...I'd love to hear him bring "I'm in Love Again" on stage just for this little stint to honor Fats. He did it on The Russian Album AND with Klaus Voormann on "A Side Man's Journey", along with Ringo. It's a great track.

Your post made me want to hear it again...here it is...with Ringo & Klaus.
