I doubt this means anything, but per Fans on the Run they posted a pic of paul and nancy wearing Wings jackets in Japan with the caption "and the theme is WINGS"
_______________________________________________________ Maybe we could get 3-4 songs from London Town and Back to the Egg. At least that would bring some excitement.
The heck with the theme being Wings, how about the theme being music after 1980 - lol.

________________________________________________________ Long time since I've seen any of your posts. You gave me a real good laugh with your comment above. Are you enjoying Disc 2 on the FITD package. Personally I love it. How does Paul not put "Lovers That Never Were" on FITD. And how can it be that he never performed "Lovers or That Day is Done" one time on a tour. Both are absolutely classic songs. And how does not one of his kids bring up the fact that he ignores great Post 1980 songs that he hasn't never done live. Unfortunately I don't think he could sing either song today. But how about 2002, 2005 etc.

That probably means her outfit theme is Wings. https://s28.postimg.org/3s931v5yl/20170423204621dc2.jpg
a propos what is written above and below the nice wings logo? This frist line could be "Juniors Farm"? followed of course by WINGS and than maybe a year + a unreadable rest.
It says Japan Tour 80. Then under the Wings logo it says UDO Artists Inc, then next line is Toshiba EMI. It's an original 1980 tour jacket.

all the spare merchandise they couldn't sell for reasons we all know

I've never seen that photo with MJ showing off the back of the jacket before...anyone else find it strange that it clearly says "McCartney Japanese Tour 1980"....and nothing about Wings? :

The band was also known as Paul McCatrtney & Wings but yeah it could have been a bootleg jacket. Although I have a bootleg tshirt & it has all the planned dates & it says Wings.

I noticed in the Budokan thread that they rehearsed the Sgt Peppers reprise yesterday. Not that it'll be played at the show, but I would imagine that it'd go before the abbey road medley in the encore (which was also played). I think Paul played the Hofner, because they went straight into USSR from it on the periscope.

Well... we know he usually closes the show with Pepper Reprise/The End medley... OR he does the Golden Slumbers/CTW/The End medley. So I'm surprised to see Sgt Pepper reprise AND the Abbey Road medley in soundcheck. Maybe this time, with the 50th anniversary, he'll do Sgt. Pepper/Sgt Pepper reprise as a complete standalone song, like in '89/'90 and '93. And then close the show with the full GS/CTW/The End.

Glad I was able to give you a good laugh. Mr. McCartney did plenty of songs from FITD (believe it was 6) on his 1989 your. The problem is that he very rarely goes back to a solo record after it is not the current album he has out and do wonderful songs like the ones you mentioned. You are right, "Lovers That Never Were" would have fit perfectly on FITD. It was a long time ago but wasn't "That Day Is Done" one of the songs on his film before the concerts during his 1989 tour.

_____________________________________________________ Yes, you are right...he doesn't go back to solo songs unless it is a current album that he is promoting. It is such a shame. I understand why he didn't do "That Day is Done" or "The Lovers That Never Were" at the time those albums were out since he did others from the same albums. He also did quite a few "Off the Ground" songs on the 1992 tour (if I have my year correct). But his voice was still very good in 2002 or 2005. Why didn't he do either song (or both) on those tours. I understand that he needs to fill the arenas/stadiums with a good amount of Beatles' songs but he had room to throw in a few Solo songs. And I'm not talking about obscure or 2nd tier songs here...really fantastic songs. Like you have said, how does he ignore "Take It Away" a hit record from 1982 I believe. Even if he nixed some of the Wings' songs he always played in favor of some great Solo songs he had never done. In 2002 I thought he was the best performer in the world (so did Howard Stern if you remember) but after 2005 he started to just go through the motions. And it is not because he didn't have great songs he had never performed live before. I know...I'm preaching to the choir here. I see that he is going back to the US again, hitting secondary cities. And that is great but if he puts out the same type of setlist he's been doing, I won't go. Another version of the Pepper reprise...who cares. As much as I love him, I won't spend that kind of money.

unfortunately our setlistwishes and discussions rotates in a circle since several years. There is only the chance of a tour with a "lower level". Something like the secret gigs in the early 90's. McCartney already spoke (p ex. in the current tour book) about an "obscure" setlist... but the questions is when or better whether this occurs... :

Just saw basically the setlist for the 1st Japan show. Please Paul...is this the best you can do. Instead of hobnobbing with the Likes of Tom Hanks, the Obama's, David Geffen etc. , can't you spend some time rehearsing some real additions (not songs you've done before) for a new tour. You have always given the fans great value from a standpoint of quantity (almost 3 hours) but now you're just going through the motions instead of trying to give your true fans a different show with songs you've never done before. You surely have plenty of them. I don' care if he ended up playing in the same little Florida town where I live, I probably wouldn't go. Any songs that he adds are just retreads from previous shows. Not a surprise but not one song from the FITD years where he just promoted his latest reissue. He used to be a great performer but as I said, he just goes through the motions now being basically Beatle Paul. What a disappointment and as I also said, I love the guy and he is my favorite. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I'm going to a 5 day Beatles festival right around Louisville KY. They have many tribute bands, singer-songwriters etc. who will do all kinds of songs. Maybe one of them (I hope) will concentrated on Paul (post 1980) and I will hear the songs I would love to hear. Unfortunately, I definitely won't hear it from the master himself.

I have to, sadly, agree with you. How long is he going to keep doing the One on One Tour? I had already made up my mind not to go this year if he played stadiums again near me...much too expensive for a bad view and to hear the exact same set I've heard at least twice before. Now, since he's doing an arena that is practically in my backyard, I may try for tix, but I really have mixed emotions about it. It's getting rather sad...
-
Agreed, he's taking the mickey at this point, like I posted at the Budokan thread. Just anything to not have to do anything new or leftfield. These new announcements go past me as well, just zero excitement knowing the reason he's playing secondary markets and venues he didn't play in ages. It's not for us any more.
-
Also agree with the above posts, if no UK shows tempted to go for an MSG ticket but dont want to see the same setlist as last year, how hard is it to dust off some never played before songs
