Royal Wedding - Prince William to Marry Kate Middleton
-
I wonder why they have child bridesmaids instead of grown ones...is it so the bride will stand out more and possibly not be 'upstaged' by a bridesmaid beauty? It's a charming tradition, though.

I just heard on the radio that they postponed the honeymoon?
Pres reports they are taking the long weekend break away somewhere in the UK before William reports back for duty next week. Martin

I loved the part where William and Catherine drove around in the 1969 Aston Martin with the license plate JU5T WED! THAT was so sweet!

William and Catherine returned to Clarence House after the afternoon reception. We were promised a surprise and under the watchful eyes of the Prince's own yellow search and rescue helicopter flying his flag over the Mall and the Palace the couple drove themselves to Clarence House in "Dad's" blue Aston Martin - top down of course. Dressed traditionally with balloons and bunting, and bearing the number plate JU5T WED, William drove with Catherine by his side - still in her wedding gown both waving happily to all sides. It was just a short drive but a delightful bonus for those reluctant to leave the Mall. Martin
It was a beautiful wedding, and I loved the common touch when they drove the Aston Martin with the "Just Wed" sign through the throngs. A nice touch indeed! The British sure know how to throw a party, huh? That must have cost the Royal Family a pretty penny.

It was a beautiful wedding. Kate & William looked absolutely radiant! Even our kid has been watching clips of the wedding on tv!

I'm starting to be a sucker for it, wanting to see more pix and vids...tears rolled down my face upon first viewing some wedding pix, I don't know why. I was touched by it. Prince William and Princess Catherine seem to have a good value system, considering their exalted positions. He's going right back to work, he didn't drive a 'flashy' car when he and Kate drove around after the ceremony, I read that Kate spent just $400 on some summer dresses recently. Have read things to the effect they're conscious of the need to "go green."
-
I could not help thinking about Princess Diana during the wedding. Especially during the Balcony scene. She would only be 49 years old now, and I was thinking how beautiful she would have been there. I know she was there in Spirit.

diana brought us back to the higher middle ground and all we know is that what goes ...will come around...

Love a bit of technology: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13200114 Enjoy zooming and panning around this super-high definition panoramic image taken from the rooftop of Buckingham Palace.
This high-definition, 1.15-gigapixel picture, is a composite of 189 images. The full picture measures 81,471 pixels by 14,154 pixels. The field of view covers 200 degrees.
A real-life "Where's Wally?" Particularly like looking into the TV studios to see things from the other side.... Was anyone there? Can you spot yourself or family? Martin

So Paul didn't make the invite list. Wow!! That must of hurt! Did Stella make the list of possible dress designers? I think William married up. She seems like a very level headed person. I hope onces she pops off a kid she doesn't turn into a Heather Mills and now thinks she got all the power to up stage her husband. The dress was really pretty and she looked great but it was sort of just ho hum. I think when you spend 20 million(if that was the cost) you might have some really over the top dress that everyone will remember. Her sister ass stole the show. I guess she know how to market herself. 400 million watching she was going to make a lasting impression. She'll be marrying some billionaires kid next. What did you think of the Brothers speech? Kind of like preaching a bit.

Full colour souvenir pull-out in todays papers. Beautiful photos! The little bridesmaids (they would be called flower girls here) were adorable!

It seems you may be reading too much into a tradition in Britain.

Well, he seems to have recovered from not being invited to any other royal wedding, so he will probably get over it.

so, when will war stop...and the thousand years of peace begin?

My mother said Kate's brother gave a long reading and sounded like he was a preacher or ordained minister. What was it about? Did Prince Harry say anything? Looks like everyone stood up while they took their vows? I found that a bit strange , reminded me of the English famed eccentricity. Everybody stood there gawking, gaping at the pair. "Onlookers" --I'll say! You better look while you've got the chance, aye? Did everyone sing some hymns before, or after they were wed? Sounds like a very religious ceremony. In hopes nothing bad will happen to the couple in future, some insurance. But something bad already happened to Prince William One hopes nothing else will. I've read he's secretly impatient and regretful of being "royalty" and can't take a lot of it seriously. And feels a twinge of bitterness about some things. But he's being a jolly good sport, going along with it, living in the "now" and not thinking much about one day becoming King. I wonder if what I read is true. I feel it might be, to an extent.

non brits need to get a grip.

Could you be more specific what you meant by that, Peter? I forgot we got to watch everything we write here, like a hawk. I was just riffing. An old friend of mine said once or twice she thought English people were all nutty as fruitcakes, I loved her so I didn't jump on her saying that...I didn't really think she meant it, anyway.

James Middleton read the lesson. The passage selected was Romans 12: 1, 2, 9 - 18 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God?what is good and acceptable and perfect. 9Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; 10love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 11Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers. 14Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. 17Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. 18If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. It's a very apposite passage from the Bible. Clearly the couple were well guided in it's selection, possibly by the Archbishop of Canterbury himself who actual married the couple - they had met several times before the ceremony to reflect on their decision and discuss the practicalities. James was clearly invited to read the passage because he has a decent voice and delivery. The reading is often made by a family member it doesn't suggest he has religeous leanings. The Telegraph newpaper has a lengthy overview of him and his business enterprises: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/kate-middleton/8474786/Royal-wedding-the-very-ambitious-Mr-Middleton.html Besides acting as Best Man, companion and ring bearer Prince Harry had no speaking role at the ceremony. He is reported to have made the traditional Best Man speech at the evening function and whilst it's been reported as humorous and ribald the text has not been leaked anywhere. The full order of service can be viewed here: http://ph1.cerosmedia.com/1B4db9637e64402583.cde That's a pdf file and will oepn so long as you have Adobe Reader installed on your PC. There were songs before and after the vows plus several other choral and orchestral pieces while the register was signed and as they processed the length of the Abbey. Martin

Appreciate the info, very interesting. Gorgeous passage from the Bible, reminds you there's a lot of meaningful beautiful good stuff in the "good book." Kate's brother James Middleton is handsome, he did some wild things, but he's very young. I did have some mixed feelings and reactions reading that article on him, and the comments. I thought her father is handsome too and looked serious and dignified and not like he was gloating, riding with her to the cathedral and then escourting her down the aisle. He looked pensive, thoughtful, he was intriguing and made you wonder what he was thinking. Pippa was charming. Princess Catherine loves her, wasn't jealous of her possibly upstaging her some, wanted her to take part. Wills loves Harry and vice versa. It's a love fest! I hope none of them get diabetes from partaking of James Middleton's sweets. The Middletons want people to party and have a good time and they make money from it--their products might not be "green" though. Kate has more serious concerns than partying, now. I did see her and William getting down dancing, they looked rather uninhibited, weren't "dirty dancing" but they were really getting into it. This wasn't at the wedding reception. Those pix I saw were taken at a nightclub or party. I hope I can download Adobe Reader if I don't have it, and see the ceremony. Thank you for the link. I wonder what Kate majored in, or "read" as you guys say, at uni. Did she and Wills live together prior to marrying, even after they graduated? I get that impression. They really ARE "modern," if so. It was cool James M. was allowed to be in the ceremony, despite his wild antics...cool that William and Kate were allowed to live together. I feel that the English really love their children, despite many being sent off to boarding schools. The young want to be with each other all the time, anyway, after all. The adolescents, the teens want to, they don't really care to be around adults much.
