"The Danish Girl" starring Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander--it's incredibly moving and sad Beautifully filmed. A heart breaker. On the same theme, I found "Normal" a 2003 HBO movie on DVD with Jessica Lange and Tom Wilkinson. Things work out much better in this story, after various troubles and hardship. The film is very entertaining too.

Monster starring charleze Theron. Just saw it first time yesterday. Then saw the documentary on the woman the film is based on. Talk about powerful, sad, and scary.

Watching "Rushmore" a quirky, charming comedy suddenly John's sprightly cheery ditty "Oh Yoko" started playing as part of its soundtrack. Going to rent "The Choice" and "Brooklyn"--"The Choice" is the latest Nicholas Sparks book to be filmed, features Tom Wilkerson, one of my favorite actors. Recently saw "The Best of Me" Sparks book movie that came out before this one. It was well-made, like all of his, but he really went over the top with the tragedy and drama in this one--Michelle Monaghan and James Marsden are really good actors because they pulled it off. Look forward to seeing "Waiting for Guffman" a Christopher Guest hilarious movie. Just saw his "A Mighty Wind" again--funny and clever and the actors improvised a lot of their own dialogue and they wrote their own folk songs for the film. So much creativity and talent exhibited. Also gonna see "Best in Show" his parody about canine competitions--haven't seen it before, nor "Waiting for Guffman," so some cinematic treats are in store.

"The Choice" sumptuously filmed, well acted and emotionally moving like all Nicholas Sparks movies, got me all choked up and crying some (and I'd thought I can't cry anymore). Was filmed in Wilmington, N.C., one of my old stomping grounds and Wrightsville Beach. I need to get out "Message In a Bottle" another Sparks film, watch that again. And find the one starring Clint Eastwood's son which I haven't yet seen. I saw an oldish comedy "Cedar Rapids, " pretty funny, starring Saturday Night Live alumni Ed Helms--he cracks me up--ditto Will Ferrell, am getting two more of his movies on DVD "The Campaign" and "Daddy's Home"

Gonna rent "The Longest Ride" starring Clint Eastwood's personable son and based on a Nicholas Sparks novel, tonight, see if it helps me cry again. I needed to cry and Sparks' "The Choice" movie achieved that goal recently. I'd feared I wouldn't be able to cry ever again and it makes you feel better to, sometime. "Hello My Name is Doris" starring Sally Field comes out on DVD June 14 and "Joy" with Jennifer Lawrence, May 31

"The Longest Ride" is one of the best made from Sparks' novels and a love story to North Carolina's beauty--Sparks always was grateful for getting a real good job in N.C. before he became an author, and he was knocked out by all the water, being from the Midwest. This flick showed a lot of the N.C. mountains, some of Charlotte and Winston Salem and Asheville, and some of the N.C. "Crystal Coast" with the beaches "Pitch Perfect 2" never fails to cheer me up Gonna see that again soon. "Under the Tuscan Sun" Diane Lane stars, she's an awesome actress and this is a feel good movie with gentle humor showcasing Italy's gorgeousness

In a feminist frenzy, saw "Joy" DVD starring Jennifer Lawrence, "Hello My Name is Doris" starring Sally Field, "Brooklyn" with Sirsha Ronan-- each features excellent natural acting and wonderful, highly skilled nuanced character studies of each of the starring women

Will rent "I Saw the Light" about Hank Williams and "The Family Fang" a dark humor comedy when they come out on DVD next week. Procured "My Big Fat Wedding 2" DVD, which I enjoyed for the most part. "Absolutely Fabulous" movie premiered last week in theaters, I plan to get that on DVD along with "Weiner Dog" starring Greta Gerwig and "Maggie's Plan" which also stars Gerwig and Ethan Hawke or at least rent them on DVD. "Weiner Dog" not on the big screen yet, will be soon. Was directed by Todd Solanz ("Welcome to the Dollhouse"). Never saw "Francis Ha" with Greta Gerwig and Sting's daughter Mickey Sumner. Want to get ahold of that one.
