New Stage Design

this is a photo from last night's show - I think that may be the platform in front of the stage, just below Paul & Brian and in front of the crowd and their signs? http://instagram.com/p/Y_niEonXgi/
The platform only comes out from center stage.... But the problem is that the entire front row may be set WAY back from the main stage... I've pointed it out a couple times, but here it is again in Orlando. If that's how it truly will be.... and you paid $1500 or $2000 for the VIP package, and you are sitting in F1, row A on the left side, or the right side... and there really is a large gap like that.... that kinda sucks! But let's see how it truly is, before we complain.... But I too am concerned....
-
I think where I'm sitting in Memphis (F2, row D, seat 14) is just to the left of the platform as you face the stage. I really wish he didn't have it since this is my first Hot Sound Package and now I will be farther away than 'normal.'
-
I'm not sure the seats will really be any further away to be honest, there's always a huge gap in stadium shows between the barrier and stage...I think they've simply put the platform in the gap that is always there...

but most of the US shows (such as Memphis) are indoors...the gap/security pit is usually smaller indoors and the stage is lower...

Ah yes, that is indeed true!

Nancy, I have the same concern as you, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of uproar about it yet. I think it's going to be difficult to judge from the first 3 outdoor shows in Brazil, since they are at large stadiums and I believe were all General Admission for the floor. That means their tickets couldn't have cost near what we paid for the packages we got. I also just purchased my first Hot Sound Package ticket, after years of hoping for a chance. I'm in F2, row C in Memphis. I don't want to be any further than those in past concerts have been. I don't feel like I am being petty. I went into this purchase with the expectations of what others have had for prior tours. I'm still trying my best to stay positive. Maybe they will do away with the platform or maybe it's just for outdoor stadiums???? I guess Orlando on the 18th will be our confirmation of what's up. As concerned as I am, my best buddy is even more concerned. She loves Paul as much as I do, but never planned to spend this much to see him. She made a split second decision to get this package because I found 2 great seats together. I'm still extremely excited about seeing Paul and I love the new set list!!!! I just want us all to have the best experience possible!!!!

Hi To add more confusion regarding the stage design, I have 2 conflicting maps for the same venue in Ottawa which is in an arena: the pre-sale map provided on this site didn't picture the stage jutting out- the other map provided by the official ticket seller does....I splurged for 2 VIP golds - row 7. After obsessing about this I've come to the conclusion it's out of my control and I'm most definitely going to have a brilliant night regardless...after all, this worry might be for nothing
-
I very much doubt the stage designers have set out to mess up anyones evening with the design i honestly doubt there will be any problem seeing him when he's on it. But at the end of the day theres not much anyone can do about it now anyways,no time to fret just enjoy the show

I believe that there were higher priced Hot Sound VIP packages sold for the Brazil shows; with GA, that just means they got earlier entrance (I think after the soundcheck was over, they were allowed to go up to the front to claim their spots). Still am waiting for people who were AT the Brazil shows to report in and tell us what they saw! But yes, there's not much we can do about the staging except enjoy seeing Paul, even if he ends up above some of us!

I WISH Paul was coming to Albuquerque and my biggest worry was where I would be when he was on some platform. :

Why are you in here complaining about that? This is about the New Stage Design, not tour rumours.

Wix, you need to relax NOW! My comment is ABOUT this friggin' thread, ie people are complaining and worrying that the staging (Um, that means NEW STAGE DESIGN!) might effect their sight lines. My comment has to do DIRECTLY with THAT! Chill out!

I'm not going to apologize for complaining about the new stage design. If people can continually fret over the set list, I can do the same over this illogical addition to the stage. I'm not an a** kisser....never have been and never will be. I tell it like it is and Paul's people got this one wrong!! Have you heard anyone at the Brazil concerts say....."man, that platform was awesome....one of the highlights of the show"? I've made it clear that I'm extremely excited about seeing Paul....I always am when I have the opportunity!!!! I was screaming after I bought the tickets!! When Paul came to my home town last year, I couldn't afford the Hot Sound Pkg. This year I made the decision to spend the money on travel, hotel and the ticket, with certain expectations. This was to be the ultimate, having finally come up with the money to spend on this package and knowing what it represents.....sound check and a seat close to the stage!!!!!! I know there is always a space between the stage and the audience, but I know how large it normally is. To add a platform that is only used for 2 songs and really doesn't put much of the audience any closer to Paul, plus keeps people who spent a lot of money further away.....it's insane!! I'm complaining to be seen and heard.....hoping that the powers that be might reconsider and retire it!! I know that is a long shot....but I can dream! This is my one and only opportunity to be this close for a concert and it means a lot to me!!!! That's my spiel! I'm going to try not to post anymore about this....I think I've covered it.
-
All I meant was I wish I had the problem of having a first row ticket to McCartney in New Mexico and wondered if there might be staging that could effect my concert experience. I apologize if it came across like I was criticizing people who have that concern. I really do wish I had that problem and I will not retract that statement. I suspect after all these concerts, no one will be complaining about the staging.

Believe me.....I pray you are correct!!!! I have a friend who was burned at Wrigley 2 years ago with her "Front Row Pkg" and that has left a bad taste in my mouth. She paid $2,000 and was so far over to the side (in front of the screen column), that she couldn't even see Paul when he was at the piano. Of course, she is much classier than me and didn't complain about it to anyone. Until that time, my dream was to get the front row package, but I learned from her experience that this was not the way to go. She also bought a Hot Sound Ticket for Memphis and is a few seats away from me. I want her to have an awesome experience this time!!

Arena show should be better in every respect. Even if you are not center stage, you will still be close!

I don't seem to be the one in need of relaxation. You go me, your comment "has to do with that"...

For the opening night in Orlando on 5/18, I'll be sitting in sec. 116, row 1.... (front row of the lower level, in the closest lower level section to the stage.) Before the show starts, I'll take a pic with my iPhone, and if signal is good enough inside the arena, I'll post it here... So that way, everyone will know exactly what to expect with the layout, and just how far the front row floor seats are from the stage.
