The 05 version wasn't in the same key as the original either, was it? The more recent version is too low though, I agree with that.

Yes, same key as the full-band arrangement.

Yes, same key as the full-band arrangement.
It worked fine acoustic, but full-band arrangement is better in the original key.

Am I the only one who only just realised McCartney transposed the key for 'I Will
? It's certainly no shame.
Good observation. He did it in E-flat in 2011. The Beatles version, as well as the '05 versions were in E -- possibly F -- my perfect-pitch ain't as trusty as it used to be.
Original Key is F
No shame in dropping it!
He should bring it up to at least E. E-flat is too low.
For some of us
I thought Paul sounded great on it at Yankee Stadium! I hope it comes back into the set this summer!
I doubt it's an issue that we have to worry about anyway, as I'd be shocked if he performs it on this upcoming tour.
My point stands: Paul McCartney - I Will (live @ Lanxess Arena, Cologne 01-12-2011):
(too low)It's obvious to me (or anyone that listens to the song regularly) that it sounds lower, but I think it sounds just fine! I love it!
-
Speaking of "I Will": Anybody else recognize Paul's guitar-lick at the end of the choruses that The Cars, let's say, borrowed for "My Best Friend's Girl"? Pretty obvious.

never noticed before!

I think I will's original key is F, listen to my -extraordinary- version of it.

Pretty good setlist! Paul's NEVER going to play "See Your Sunshine," though. It's about Heather...

"Just heard from a source that Paul has been rehearsing a Venus & Mars/Rock Show/Jet opener... just like WOA. Other rehearsals include Listen To What The Man Said, Letting Go, WITH A LITTLE LUCK!! and All Things Must Pass (perhaps time to FINALLY ditch Something as the "George" tribute song). Sounds good. With A Little Luck didn't make the cut for the 1979/80 tour, did it? I wonder how it will do live.

Wonder if it is the full version of Venus & Mars/Rock Show and not abreviated one he did years ago.
-
Oh my gosh...that is EPIC!
With a Little Luck has NEVER been performed live and All Things Must Pass was only done at The Concert For George & the Summer Tour '04. And more recently, Venus and Mars/Rock SHow & Letting Go have only had brief stints as part of the Up and Coming Tour in 2010/11

Oh...and of courseListen to what the man said hasn't been played since 1976!!! And has reportedley been rehearsed in the recent past...maybe it'll finally make it out on this tour! I sure hope so

That would be cool! I saw Wings do it in 76, it has always been a favorite of mine.

I'd imagine. Over on the SHTV forums, some of the other posters pointed out that VM/Rockshow got mixed reaction from the crowd as an opener and it was only when the band went into Jet that they really got into it. So, if they include this, I'd reckon it'll be the abbreviated version to get to a recognizable song (for 90% of the crowd). Didn't this medley also show up a little later in the setlist during the On The Run concerts last year?

After looking in the "archives"...I see that it was played for all Up and Coming Tour shows in 2010. In 2011, it was replaced with "Hello, Goodbye" for the last dates of the tour. Then, it appeared at a small handful of European and South American shows in early 2012 On The Run Tour.

Right. And in those 2012 shows wasn't it like the 4th song or so? Strange placement, but still, would be wonderful to hear.
-
Yes...personally- if he does it like he has recently, I don't wanna hear it again this summer. It was nice once, but that was just really for the sake of hearing it once. If he brings it back as the opener for this tour, it needs to be done properly, and he needs to start offstage. He killed his own buzz by coming out BEFORE singing "Venus and Mars".

I have said several times on these boards, I think "That Was Me" would be a fun opener.
