Very true which is amazing.  If I was him and played 25 Beatle/Wings hits every night, I think I would feel I satisfied my audience and the other remaining 10 songs I would do what I darn wanted to play and if the audience is a bit more quiet after those songs it would not really bother me.

unfortunately he don't thinks (or feel) like "us" fans 😉 And he seems to lost the persuasion that the majority of his current outputs aren't equivalent to the most beatle stuff.  The "concert Paul" of 1993, 1989 or 1976 is unfortunately long ago history. To recognize this is as one side but to accept that a song like in spide of all the danger is more important for him than songs like Put it there, Own it all to you or Happy with you on the other side is barely comprehensible for fans who likes all his songs from 1957-2018.

        Mr. Flaming Pie,

You make a great point.  It's not that "In spite of all the Danger" is a bad song, but Paul has this notion that people naturally like his Beatle songs better (even the more obscure ones like "Danger") than his solo/non-beatle stuff.  Why would you continue to drag out the secondary or tertiary songs (add I Wanna Be Your Man to the list) but not consider terrific Solo songs like Early Days (from New), Put It There (from Flowers in the Dirt), Happy With You (from Egypt Station), Young Boy (from Flaming Pie) etc etc.  I could go on and on. Even if some in the audience are not that familiar with a specific Solo song, that as Yankeefan points out, should not matter.  Have confidence in your own material no matter what the era is.  For those fans unfamiliar,  it is like hearing a new song.  If it's good quality, it's good quality.  We're not talking about obscure Solo songs here.  We're talking about songs that were highlights from specific albums.

Let's think about it, you are going to see Paul McCartney for the first time with significant other or friend and you start discussing what songs you would love to hear at the concert that night. How many people do you think would mention "In Spite Of All Danger" or "I Wanna Be Your Man" - lol ? I love the Beatles as much as anybody and even I could care less if I ever heard either one of them live. Next, he starts playing "45 Seconds" awhile ago and like you said maybe it is to appear hip and it was a "hit" so he plays it. News flash to Mr. McCartney, you are "hip" now with the #1 album in the country and you don't have to do a song you were barely involved with in your setlist IMO.

You're in the middle of tour dates, and you're playing some songs from the new album on tour. I think you're playing, like, three or so? Will they change each night?

PAUL:  We're doing three at the moment, 'cause you know why? 'Cause we didn't have that long to rehearse, and we're putting other things in the show. So it's a question of learning 'em. 'Cause you know, you write the thing, and then you go and record it. And when you record it, obviously it's a certain arrangement, so now you've got to reproduce it faithfully, you've got to learn that arrangement all over again. So we've learned three. We've got another one that we've nearly got. So they're gradually coming onboard. And then we may be able to change them up in that case.

I think he forgot he performed Confidante in July lol

            Good catch - lol.

Like I said in another post, how long would it take for him and the band to rehearse some of these songs to be able to play them live? Are we to believe that McCartney and his band need tons of rehearsal to learn 5-6 songs that probably average around 3-4 minutes. It is not like they have to rehearse much else for this tour, the band can play the other songs probably in their sleep - lol.

After seeing the set list for the first two shows, I'm thinking of contacting trading standards about this tour name

I was at the concert last night in Montreal.

The horns really aded something to the show.

I was always a fan of the later Beatles music.

Funny thing is - I was really moved hearing the early songs:

                    From Me to You

                    Love Me Do

                    Wow. Just wow.

                    1989 - December, 1989 (Montreal); 1993 - June 6 (Toronto); 2011 - July 26 & 27 (Montreal); 2018 - September 20 (Montreal)

Glad you had fun and I am sure the horn section really added something to certain songs.. Another really old one (Meet The Beatles) I would love him to do is "Hold Me Tight".

I see that after the 2 Canadian shows are over, Paul and the Band has a month to prepare for the Japanese shows.  Maybe they can add a 4th Egypt Station song to the setlist!

I'm being sarcastic but I agree with you.  How hard would it be for Paul and the Boys to have been  ready to perform "I Don't Know" or "Happy For You".  That was a lame excuse if I ever heard one.  One good thing for next year's US shows....Judging by the comments and tweets I've seen,  I think Paul is getting some serious flack about the lack of ES songs  at these shows especially considering it became a #1 Album in both the US and Canada.  By next year, Paul better be ready to perform 6-8 ES songs.   Maybe he could finish next year's "Freshen Up" tour with "Despite Repeated Warnings" which for me is now becoming the masterpiece of ES.  Will we ever see Macca start and finish a show from the same "new" album.  ES deserves it in my opinion but I would shocked.

                                        Back from Montreal:

The DJ set and preshow film were fresh.  "Happy With You" was featured in the preshow with Egypt Station graphics.

The horn section (the guys  were great) and the three ES songs along with "From Me To You" freshened things up a bit.

"My Valentine" was done on piano (saw someone asked on a previous post) amd yes I'm glad Queenie Eye was still in the set as well (someone mentioned this too)

BTW-the new songs rocked in the arena setting; pity more weren't played.  I believe NEW had four live songs to start out when it was released

I thought the merchandise was weak as I didnt see anything related to ES.

Rememeber these shows are fresh for our Canadian friends.  The States will get the minty fresh rejigged Freshned Up tour next summer.

Since Caesar Rock being released as the new single, do you guys think we'll hear that live any time soon? Or any time at all? lol

I saw little Egypt Station merch in Quebec City as well.  There was an all black t shirt with the pyramid/train station logo in white, coffee mug with a few Egypt Station prints on it, and a pin set with ONE Egypt Station pin in it with the same design on the coffee mug.

I posted some pictures from the merch stand which are on my instagram.

(They are in the set with the concert chairs album showing the booster seat I randomly saw lol)

I haven't seen any posts yet regarding that obtrusive small rising stage. Is it still there?
