Yes, the video is for Who Cares. What we don't know is when, and whether the track will be put out as a single at the same time. Since Capitol is still actively promoting Caesar Rock to Triple A radio, which is the only format likely to be open to Who Cares, it seems likely a new single isn't coming in the next week or two. But they did a Back in Brazil video without promoting the track as a single, so maybe that's the plan again. At least there's still active promotion going on. But Paul really needs to get on U.S. TV again -- the 60 Minutes interview produced a notable bump in Egypt Station's position on the Amazon CD/vinyl bestsellers chart, which lasted about 5 days. We'll see the impact of that on the Billboard 200 and other album sales charts that come out in a few days.
Interestingly, Come On To Me is a legit hit on Adult Contemporary radio -- at no. 10 and gaining fast, per Mediabase. This makes it Paul's biggest hit in that format since Hope of Deliverance in 1993 (Billboard's last chart had it at no. 13, but it will no doubt rise 2-3 notches when the new chart comes out). This is still nowhere near Katy Perry/Beyonce/Taylor Swift levels of radio airplay, but really good for a geezer act.
Good information, Bruce.
I feel that if they really want to use this new video as a promotional push, they should pair a Who Cares digital single with one of the unreleased tracks left off Egypt Station. This would give his hard core fans a reason to buy the single. At the very least, make Get Started or Nothing for Free B sides on it. They deserve more exposure.

That does make a lot of sense. As you say, put one of the Bonus tracks that weren't on the proper album as the B-side. I really like "Get Started" personally. It has a Wings' style to it.

So happy with this album!! Just got my colored vinyl albums. It's a beautiful album. I have always loved the painting and it's really cool to see the continuation of it. I think Paul used this painting in an earlier tour as well, the one with the Magritte figures that went into the audience. Sadly, I missed that tour as it was pre internet.
Went to Target to get the CD and they were sold out!! Was very happy for Paul about that. The album was in the #1 position there. They got some more, so I was able to get one, finally. Today I was in another Target in Texas and they had the video and the album cover, up on the screens in the Music section. Great video, BTW!!!

When I think "Confidante" is about the Beatles breaking up, that adds a whole new element of poignancy and atmosphere to the charming ditty, for me; that interpretation may not be right, or not completely. It may be a hint of a subtext. Very early This morning I listened to the entire Egypt Station album online while half-asleep and it was an experience, it got absorbed more and was a revelation. I suppose "Caesar Rock" is another romance anthem for his old lady. It's an intriguingly different kind of one, sort of funky, bluesy and wild yet sounds joyful and exuberant. It has much more life, interest and feeling in it than the genteel "My Valentine." "I Don't Know" is subtle and nuanced in its sound and theme. Enigmatic. I love the sad sharply poignant yet subdued melancholy of its opening chords leading into the song. "Despite Repeated Warnings" is understated, yet very effective and striking. I'd often like to beat up you know who, tear him a new one despite being non violent, a pacifist; Paul is appealingly restrained, dignified and reasonable in this aural protest. The epic song sounds sophisticated and mature. Yet it swells into great feeling and eloquence musically. "Happy With You" and "Hand in Hand" are rather exquisite companion pieces. "Do It Now" just overtakes and overwhelms you. You're conquered by the song. It seems a classic, as if it's always been. "Who Cares" is a rousing triumph for the underdog, and inspiring. "Fuh You" and "Come On To Me" are companion pieces, and sexy and life affirming. Infectiously impudent, catchy! The light and breezy, and charming, "Back In Brazil" seems a sequel to or companion piece of sorts to "Ob La Di, Ob La Da" as both are "feel good" jubilant odes to romance. "Hunt You Down/Naked/ C-Link" is like a drug. Good medicine for you. Egypt Station seems, over all, more like "Classic Paul" with wonderful variety than "New" did. The latter also features some magic Macca music man charms.

Susy, Paul hs stated that Confidante is about one of his old guitars.

"Despite Repeated Warnings" is the most elegant, refined, understated yet effective "protest song" I've ever heard. It's deeply impressive. "Do It Now" is so sweetly somber, urgent in a refined manner, it's really grown on me wheras I didn't notice it all that much, at first. The same goes for "People Want Peace," so gravely beautiful and serious, and deep. It's so moving. I love how many of Paul McCartney's songs sneak up on you, and suddenly you realize with a Bang! how great they are. Others have that effect immediately and sound like "instant classics." Like "they always existed." I can't bear for his songwriting powers to be underrated. Billy Joel ripped him off for years...trying to sound like him and his songs sound like his. Obviously it works out wonderfully to try to "copy" Paul. Songwriters should study his works.

Latest update from the RateYourMusic site:
Egypt Station: 3.04 / 5.0 from 710 ratings.
Excluding Kisses On The Bottom (which is basically a covers album anyway), that's Paul's poorest rated album of new material since 1986's Press To Play.
I can't say I'm surprised. Although not conscious of it at the time,I stopped playing the album a couple of weeks ago as its just so bland and uninteresting. Even Memory Almost Full is starting to sound good which is saying something. I just wish Paul had kept the experimental approach to his writing like on the Electric Arguments & Chaos and Creation albums.

Kestrel, you've a right to your opinion, and I respect it, but it freaks me out...Egypt Station "so bland and uninteresting"? Really? "Chaos and Creation In The Backyard" is "experimental"? C&C has very strong "sensitive, introspective singer songwriter" elements, not zany "way out there" sort of house music electronics improvisation like "Electric Arguments," to my ears; and "Egypt Station" features some introspective, profound, sensitive songs like those on C & C-- along with the scintillating Egypt Station variety of styles which also includes some rockers, and even Latin music sounds. It's brilliant, I think. It should win "Album of the Year" at the Grammies or at least be nominated. The "Rate Your Music" site isn't the "end all and be all" of music reviewers. It isn't the ne plus ultra and utters the ultimate pronoucement on what's good in music. You act like it does. Why? That site doesn't have the final say.

It's been awhile since I held an album, cd, record, tape, (and as I heard John Lennon say: "Electronic noise.") etc...
Held the cover, fold out, while playing the songs, following some of the lyrics, turning the cover around, looking up looking down ... reading the next set of lyrics ... doing what I used to do when I bought a new Record/ album. I enjoyed hearing Paul's track by track inteview on Sirrus radio. I like that he was being interviewed to see, to hear and to read. I always like those: Hey I haven't heard this story or answer before types of things.
I am glad that Paul didn't decide to sit in a recliner and vege to the television, shuffle his feet while getting a cup of coffee and maybe some sugar filled snack while channel surfing. Growing a 3 day beard and thinking how thankful he was for the life he lived and glad to have written the songs that will be the fans treasure while finally deciding to get dressed after the morning faded into the afternoon or close enough to that. Glad to have another new album that isn't a rehash or greatest hits of something or another type of thing ...
Say what you want to say... I am glad to have it in my hands and to be listening to the album... and if I am smiling inside because of it and playing more guitar because of it.... and enjoy it .... Thanks Paul

Oh Kestrel, Kestrel, Kestrel. I, on the other hand, can't stop playing Egypt Station. I can easily say that I have played this breathtaking album at least 25 times since downloading it one minute after midnight on September 7. And hours later, at Target, I was awarded with two bonus songs, which are exceptional tunes. The only album that overwhelmed me to this degree was, well, Band On The Run. So Sir Paul, you wowed me at age 16 and again at age 62. Thanks.

Nicely put.

Egypt Station to me has proven that Paul can always make it up there in the charts. He worked so hard to get there. Egypt Station is a wonderful album. Fuh You has such a nice rhythm to it when he sings "I just wanna know how you feel". Im falling in love with his song Confidente because the sound of his voice is so gentle and soothing for me. Who Cares and come On To Me are my two favorite songs on the album. I also love Paul's art work on the cover of the album too. He has so much talent to share.
And you know really Paul only just wants us all to enjoy his music thats why he still makes music. I always enjoy his music because it helps me to relax after a hard day's work. I can proudly say I have been a fan of Paul's for 22 years now even though I am only a second generation fan but still Paul's music will continue to be played generation after generation.

I think you are more the age of a 3rd generation fan! 2nd gens are those born in the ‘70s I thought!
-

Nah, you’re a 3rd gen baby, but we’re happy to have you! You were born 3 years after John was killed! My best friend was born in 1967 and considers herself 2nd gen because she didn’t discover Paul and The Beatles until the ‘70s.
P.S. You keep writing Confidente, but it’s Confidante.

When I first downloaded Egypt Station and listened to it, I thought "It's ok..."
After listening to it several more times, I think it ranks up there with some of Sir Paul's strongest releases as a solo artist... I hear hints of themes and melodies past, even things that sound like the Beatles, echoes of John and George... So evocative, haunting and playful (fuh you!). I oh no one sues you for sounding too much like... you!!!
THANK YOU for sharing your gift! Continued health and happiness... God bless you and your loved ones!

You've paid your money and you're enjoying it and,at the end of the day, that's all that matters.
Personally I think in 10 years time people will look back and judge it as just another 'average' Paul album, not bad by other peoples standards but nothing like what he's capable of producing.

No, that's very true Susy but the site does give a reasonably accurate guide to how any given album has been received. The people who use the site are just ordinary people who have listened to an album and given their reviews / ratings. The very same people who took Egypt Station high in the charts in this instance.
Looking at the ratings of some of Paul's / Wings other, better received albums, I note with the following the figures are:
Ram: 3.94 / 5.0 = 4859 ratings .......Band On The Run: 3.89 / 5.0 = 5030 ratings........Chaos and Creation: 3.72 / 5.0 1929 = ratings.......Flaming Pie: 3.64 / 5.0 =1314 ratings........New: 3.39 / 5.0 = 1222 ratings.
I assume you totally disagree with the 4800+ people who have rated Ram as being Paul's most popular album for example? To be fair, its very early days yet but if Egypt Station is only registering around 3.04 from 700+ votes, then as a rough guide, I would say that is a reasonable indication that Egypt Sation isn't quite as good as your obsession with Paul McCartney would like to make out. I'm really pleased that you're enjoying the album so much but I'm quite disappointed with it. After New (which I did like) I was expecting something of at least an equal standard.

I'm still hoping I can feel that way. Love the instrumentation on the song and I'm starting to not hear his frail vocal jump out at me the way it initially did. Not sure I can get to describing Paul's voice as "so gentle and soothing," (well, it is here and there) on it, but I wince less and less with each new listen, so......... here's hoping!
