How do you drop "Who Cares". It's a great new ES song, great lyrics and a timely subject.

Another Paul McCartney "shake my head" moment - lol.
-
Now we know which songs will be for the night #2 folks at the various future gigs.
I'm sure Who Cares will be back for the full show events.
-
I'm lovin' it they did "Junior's Farm" and "We Can Work It Out" ..."Junior's Farm" is appropriate 'cause, you know, "Texas Hicks" (I probably shouldn't have said that), though Austin is a big city. Maybe he did decide to save "Who Cares" for the major tour. Though he did sing it at the Grand Central Station mini-show (and Abbey Road?). I'm gonna check out YouTube for the Junior's Farm and We Can Work It Out vids (smiley face)

True, but given this may be his last big chance to promote Egypt Station in the U.S. for a while (since his American tour dates aren't till next year, at least what's been announced so far), playing just 2 new songs seems a truly bizarre choice. Paul has become 2 entirely separate musicians: A recording artist who continues to produce surprising, brilliant work, and a touring nostalgia act. But I don't think he's going to change at this point.

Junior's Farm was awesome. I never get sick of it

Can you post a vid of that at ACL he did last night? Thanks. Also of "We Can Work It Out." Those aren't on YouTube yet.

First: thank you, SurSteven, for that link where to find the ACL vids of Paul's.
Secondly, Bruce, if Paul Mc. is just a "touring nostalgia act," then why was his concert I saw the very best, the most thrilling of my life? 'Cause it was...

By the way, last night's show was far and away the greatest McCartney show I've ever seen, and I've seen many

HI EVERYONE! love2travel and I just got home from Austin, we had a great time! We were near the front of the stage but people started passing out due to the excessive heat and we ended up moving a little further back. Overall, the show was great! Paul wasn't as emotional this weekend like he was last weekend. Both weekends were great, L2T and I are tired!

Yep, he is like two different people. Brillant and innovatice in the recording studio and oldies touring act.

love2travel here:
Hi Oobu We had such a blast both weekends!! jl4761 was correct, so far, as seeing Paul play. We had an amazing close and center spot last weekend... everyone in front of us was shorter, we were close and center and met Santa (with a white beard and mustache and a big Greatful Dead fan). There was plenty of space to get some fresh cool air. So great to hear Paul and the band and enjoyed the new videos!!! Very mellow.
This week, seemed so much more crowded, we were packed in like sardines, and you start thinking that if there was a crowd surge, you could be trampled The weather was a bit warmer and we were wishing it would rain. We are troopers when it comes to a Paul concert, however, when some person is standing behind you sweating and it feels like a warm blanket and you might pass out, you finally have to come to your senses and get something more to drink, before you get dehydrated. People were slowly undressing to try and deal with it. We found out that Austin has a no-bra law on the books and you can walk around topless, in Austin. That came in handy, with the heat and all, for some of the women in the know. I felt really badly for a short little boy there who could not see above the crowd, and was starting to look a bit pale. Next concert, I'm bringing a Camelback water bladder.
As we tried to force our way through the crowds to get to water, we realized just how packed and huge the crowd actually was. It seemed like we were swimming upstream in molassas. jl4761 kept remarking that it was like Woodstock. By the time we broke through the masses, we were sweating heavily, like we just got out of a hot tub!! We both needed 4-5 waters immediately!!! Sadly we couldn't see the stage very well at all, but we could breath again. We heard that many people were passing out., and people much younger than we were too! We listened to the rest of the show and could see the tops of the fireworks.
The next night, we took our chairs and sat very far back, to watch Metallica. Part of that was to preserve our hearing (jl4761 says his hearing is already gone from all the Metallica and other rock concerts he's seen in the past) and we also kicked back to watch the show, of all of the other bands performing on other stages. It was really nice!!! Metallica really blasted every other band out of the park. The cameramen were filming them from a really high crane. Would love to have seen Paul from that high crane and some binoculars, that would have been COOL.
So glad we went,. it was so much fun!!! We also made out well with our Air BNB home, with a pool and jacuzzi, to take care of sore legs and feet. The park was huge and we walked miles and miles.
Glad to hear you think Who Cares may come back. So sad I missed the Grand Central Station show, was on a plane to visit a family member. Would have loved to hear that live. Keep seeing Egypt Station selling out at Target. Paul has a spot he does on their overhead screen, in the music department. It's great to hear it!!!

Very simple, because some people are just thrilled to see basically a Beatle Paul show over and over again. You still think his voice sounds "F Good" while almost anybody else will at least concede his voice is not what is was even 5 years ago. If his concerts still thrill you, that is great. Just remember others would like to see him play more than 3-4 songs past 1981 and by playing so few songs after 1981 (at least 37 years ago) that is a nostalgia act.
-
I've seen just one other Paul concert, Yankee Fan. I'm not jaded. The Raleigh May 27 show of next year will be only my second. I'd still love for him to change it up and add more songs after 1981, and all that. I'll still be thrilled with whatever he does choose to perform. He'll never be "just an oldies act" to me, just as he will always seem young to me, young in spirit and he also looks great. Deep down, I'm optimistic like him. His sunny nature is closer to the top. He doesn't have to dig down very far. Yet he has a lot of depth, as well.

Uh, those two ideas don't actually conflict.

Susy, the last time I saw him was in Charlotte NC. I had had seen him the year before in Citifield and only went to the Charlotte show because my daughters wanted to see him for the first time and wanted to share the experience with them. I thought he was very good but I was starting to get "jaded" about his set list. As I have said way too many times before, I fully understand doing the 20-25 Beatle/Wings hits but wanted more diversity in the remaining songs. As somebody who has faithfully bought his solo/Fireman albums, I wanted to hear more of that music live. I don't think there is anything wrong with feeling that way. As for his voice, it is obvious it is not what it once was years ago. We are talking about one of the greatest rock voices of all time. I understand he is 76 but I really think he or people on his team have to understand he really can't sing certain songs like "Maybe I'm Amazed anymore. So just change the key or play another beautiful song you wrote for Linda, there is no shame in that IMO. Finally, I respectfully disagree with you regarding oldies act. If close to 90% of your setlist is before 1982 that is an oldies act IMO.
