New Macca song called "Get Enough" coming out at midnight
-
I'd feel somehow cheated if Ryan Tedder wrote some of the lines, when I thought it was all Paul. Maybe Paul wants people to think that to cover himself--my sister commented "his old lady must be pissed off he writes songs about feelings for other gals," or words to that effect, LOL (also referring to "Come On To Me" and "Fuh You").

Weird but - assuming it’s one of the Tedder produced songs - I like it !!!
Much more than Fuh you or the truly awful Nothing for free.
This will be Paul’ s first Top Ten Hit in 30 years !
No, it won't. I'll bet $10,000 on that. Seriously.
Yeah, I know. My initial post had “just joking” at the end. But I thought it would be more of a tease to set an exclamation mark. Still I really like the song - “against all odds” given it’s one of the Tedder collaborations

Anyone married to Paul had better have a “thick skin” and be understanding about all that, considering his vast prior history with women!

Elvis Costello digs it (and so do I).
Elvis Costello tweeted the following at Rolling Stone magazine early this morning:
“I know people are going to go, ‘Oh no! Paul McCartney on bloody Auto-Tune! What have things come to?'”
“At the back of my mind,” he said, “I’ve got Elvis Costello saying, ‘Fucking hell, Paul!'”
To which @elviscostello says, “Fucking hell, Paul! “Get Enough” is ace. Love it!”

Ryan Teddar is listed as a composer along with Paul.
Awww, isn't that nice of him to shoulder some of the blame.
He also could have contributed the lines that you guys think are about Dot.
Those are so “Liverpool/Paul specific” though. Ryan Tedder was raised near Tulsa, OK. I bet Paul composed most of the words and Ryan did some of the music.
It doesn't matter where Ryan was raised. He knows where Paul came from & could have offered a line or a word or 2!

Okay! We’ll never know for sure though.

Were it not for the heavy autotune, one could hear...and still can...Paul's very very rough vocals. Hence the reason it was heavily autouned. He should have autotuned "Confidante" for the same reasons....or not recorded any vocals while his voice was in such bad shape. I, sad to say, hope he never records another song. It's just too painful to listen to him..on too many of his songs.

He does really well for a man of 76, most people his age can't even sing at all anymore... Julie Andrews had a throat operation several years ago that turned out horribly and left her incapable of singing/performing live.
I'm just grateful that Paul still wants to sing for us, and that he still can and that he's still with us, and I never take that for granted

Agreed. While I am happy he is still able to perform, he is damaging his legacy, and quite often has embarrassed us with awful recordings(see Get Enough and Early Day). Horrific!

What makes it a bit frustrating, is that with a rested 76-year old voice he can still sound quite nice. "Happy With You" is beautiful. Paul had obviously come to the studio prepared to lay down a nice vocal. Too bad he didn't do that for all the songs, most notably "Confidante."

Don’t you feel a tiny bit repetitive?

He's so expressive there, love it. Wish he had lipsynched the whole thing... Elvis Costello loves the song--not too shabby !

No. Nothing is repetitive.....lay down a vocal when your voice is up to it....don't lay one down when it isn't.

I'm not convinced that the resting of his voice would make much difference. I'm sure he was told years ago that his vocal cords are damaged beyond repair and that he may as well just carry on doing what he loves doing. Clearly from his studio recordings and live shows he has some better days than others but overall his spoken voice and singing voice are totally shot.

I hate to agree, but I do. “Resting” his voice doesn’t make a bit of difference. I doubt surgery would help either. It’s odd that he can still sound good on certain rockers like Helter Skelter, but cringeworthy on a ballad. I think that’s why he stopped doing The Long And Winding Road.
