Hullo Maccaboard! Long time reader, first time poster here who was somehow, by the grace of the mystics, lucky enough to score some DT tix for me and My Love! This is going to be an amazing life experience that will not likely be topped and I'm hoping to go all out and make this trip as overwhelmingly special and important as possible. My hope is for Mr. McCartney to marry us. We met each other through music, grew close through a love of Beatles, and have progressed together personally and artistically by the guidance of The Macca. He is her spirit animal, and she is the best thing I've ever known, and I want to be her Mel Evans forever. If anybody has any insight on how one might make this happen, my gratitude and respect is all yours But in any case, we will be there weekend 1 and would really love to meet some fellow Bogey people! We had made it to Fresno in April for the 1on1 kick off, decked in custom made Venus and Mars shirts, and were shocked we couldn't find any other "freaks"! Not until the show was over at least, then we were able to spot those who were too lovestuck to move and had some great conversations with some great people. Thanks for reading, and for a cherry on top, here's my baby's cover of "When I'm 64" that she made for her pop. Hope you enjoy! See yalls soon!!!
Do you mean "Mal Evans"? I was in Fresno, too. Great show, wasn't it? Good luck in your quest. I don't think that Paul is licensed in the state of California to perform marriages, though.

D'oh! MAL, indeed! And yes, i never thought i'd have such a magical evening in Fresno of all places And the lesser "religious" the better, we want to be forged together by rock and roll not church and state... not that we frown upon religion, we just don't belong to any particular group ourselves thats any bigger than "Beatle People"

Can't get "lesser religious" than being married by Paul McCartney. Unless you get married by an Elvis impersonator in Vegas. Which would be much cooler.

I guess what I meant to say in my previous post is that even if Paul brought you on stage for this, you wouldn't be legally married or anything. He would just be saying the words to you. So if that's good enough, then bring a sign (I hope your seats are close enough!) and good luck to you both!

Thank you nightfish, his words are all we need, besides, y'know... the love Seats are great! (Sec 205) but it would have to be one hell of a sign for him to see it, and i'd hate to do that to everyone behind us. That's why I'm putting this out there now, juuuuust in case someone somewhere sees this and can help me out. It's a longshot I know but ill bring a ring just in case. And if it doesn't happen, well damn, i guess we'll just have to enjoy the biggest concert experience of a lifetime!! Thanks for letting me highjack the thread for a bit. I'll keep an eye on here to see if there's any plans for a weekend 1 meet up. We'll definitely have some down time in the daylight before showtime and hope to meet some good folks! 2:

Unbelievable!!! I just won a contest on my local radio station: airfare/hotel/tickets for the first weekend of this show! Wow - I've been EXTREMELY lucky with radio winnings over the years, but never thought I'd win this one. PSYCHED!!!
-
I haven't had the time to read this entire thread, but when is Paul appearing? Which weekend?

Congrats! That would be the only way I would attend this.

Paul McCartney's odd request for 'Oldchella' concert Sir Paul McCartney wants to make sure he isn't dwarfed by any fellow rock gods at the upcoming Desert Trip concert, which has also been dubbed "Oldchella." A music source close to the show says that the 74-year-old former Beatle requested the stage be raised a whole 6 inches every time he's on it. This kinda confirms for me the 'extra stage' is for extra security as well. I can't see any other reason why they insist on having the insane gap in between stage and crowd. From experience I know that back in 2009-2013 front row general admission meant front row like any gig. Front row in Amsterdam in 2015 was like a spot I have when I show up just before show time... I remember being surprised in 2009 there was even a barrier lol. But I guess that's arena acts for you.

My guess is that it has to do with the extra rising piece of the stage. It's probably a specific height and the main stage has to be raised to the usual height of Paul's stage in order for both stage pieces to be flat at the start. I really don't know anything, and it may not make sense to everyone, but it's only my opinion

Makes sense and you may be right!

Or he just wants to be higher than everyone else!
