McCartney 3?

Darn the luck, the sometimes annoying (to me) Tay Tay Swift is dropping another new album around that time ! That must be why they pulled back Paul's, to the 18th. Hers comes out just a few days from now, I think. I read Swift had beaucoup different pressings and vinyl LP colors and gimmicks for hers. She was humble bragging about she just couldn't stop writing songs while making "Folklore." They're pouring out of her.

I was thinking that too but the cd comes out on the 18th so I think he might not hit number one But at my local record shop the guy told me he hasn't seen this many preorders for McCartney III compared to other albums in a while so hopefully that puts him in the lead

There may be a few more reviews but from what we have already read I think it is safe to say that "McCartney III" is a critical success. The critics seem to all agree on the good songs they like on the album and only two (Deep Deep Feeling, Lavatory Lil) is there some disagreement from the critics. This album has gotten some good buzz and publicity which includes cover of "Rolling Stone" and cover stories from the NY Times. Due to that, I think album will place in the top five in the charts and maybe higher depending on what else is coming out. A new Taylor Swift album being dropped may prevent McCartney from two consecutive #1 albums. Unfortunately, like most of McCartney albums this will probably not stay in the charts very long. McCartney's base is not the kind that overwhelming buys his new records. It is to bad that all those Beatle Paul/first timers that attend his concerts don't really support any of his solo music.
Album was originally scheduled to be released today, sadly we all wait another week. My belief is most of us will be happy with this album. We may quibble on some songs but I doubt anybody will trash this album. In the end, let's be thankful we got another McCartney album that we certainly did not expect. The man is so amazing , even at almost 80 he is still so creative.

I've heard the album and like it a lot. His voice is what it is at this point and that is okay. My favorites are When Winter Comes, Seize the Day, Slidin, Find My Way, and Kiss of Venus. Sone of the stuff veers into experimental Fireman territory so tastes may vary. Its raw and very much a petsonal statement. Kind of a mix between the first 2 albums. Not a major statement but a very nice side peoject. I think you will like it.

Her album dropped last night at midnight. Have just finished listening to the songs. I really enjoyed the first song and video for Willow, which was a continuing lighted thread from Folklore. It seems the album name comes from an Emily Dickenson poem or letter to her friend Sue ending in the word Evermore, according to a video about the trail of Easter Eggs she has left for her fans. The songs were quite pleasing, will have to listen again. Generally, I enjoy her songs. I haven't looked into purchasing any of hers, I've bought so many colored vinyls and merchandise, I have to save some for Christmas pressies and going to donate twice what I normally do to the Food Bank this Christmas. They certainly need donations this year!

Maybe, but more doesn't mean better. The music critic in the Washisngton Post wasn't kind in his assessment of her album. She's who she is, so she will sell, but she's become overexposed. Her time on the scene is waning....or soon will be.

I think the point Suzy was making was is she will sell plenty and this will effect where "McCartney III" is placing on the charts next week.

I'd never really taken her seriously before. I had no intention of watching her at this year's (postponed) Glastonbury that she was headlining along with Paul. Then my daughter played me folklore and I was smitten. Such a great album, helped by the involvement of Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver, both of whom I adore. And I particularly loved the fact that she'd veered off in such a different direction. Which is why I find ever evermore disappointing - so far. It seems like folklore 2 - exactly the same direction but without the highlights that folklore had. One of the many great things about the Fabs was that they knoked out an album every 6 months and each one was totally different and - generally - better. Love that she'd done this so quickly, but I can;t help thinking it's the cast offs from folklore rather than another 6 months work on top of it.

I long for the days of ....a local record shop! If I'm lucky, Walmart MAY have it or, maybe, Target's. Usually not. Maybe a Best Buy....if/where one still exists. I usually end up having to wait for Amazon to deliver it....and they are saying the 28th!

How did you hear it....what was the source? Just wondering. I will wait to listen to it on my own system....by myself so I can play it loud as I am prone to do!!!! That's how I enjoy hearing something new.
