I don't get very "fan girly" but if this is true, I'm going to pee myself from joy: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/music/4693497/Sir-Paul-McCartney-replacing-Kurt-Cobain-in-Nirvana.html "The sensational gig will see the surviving members of the grunge band [NIRVANA] together for the first time in 20 years. And former Beatle Sir Paul will sing with them as they play a new song at a star-filled charity concert in New York." No. Effing. Way.
I know, I know! Nirvana was such an important band in my life when they were around, and if anything even close to this article happens, people sitting around me will seriously need to watch out.

It looks like Paul will at least be playing "Live and Let Die" which seems like an odd choice, but hey, who am I to judge? http://instagram.com/p/THguUPkY84/ As for the Nirvana rumors...still fan girling over here as I get ready to roll to NYC.
Given what happened im not sure this song would have been first choice on my set list for this evening no matter how spectacular it is live.

http://onlineathens.com/national-news/2012-12-11/americans-finding-dozens-ways-mark-12-12-12 They are setting up for it! (Well one would imagine)

I had a feeling something to do with nirvana was going on after Brian posted a picture of Keith smith holding a bass guitar that Brian said belonged to krist , and the only bass player called krist i could think if was in nirvana..... im rather nervous and excited; those boys can play:-):-) and we might get to see some different style lead guitar from Paul
I am not worried about McCartney's muscianship, he still can play a "mean" guitar (bass, lead, acoustic etc) lol. At this stage of his career, I am more nervous about his vocals.
-
Since Kurt Cobain was one of those Lennon fanboys who hate Paul I'm not sure what I think about it. Plus, in all the newspaper comments people are saying it's a horrid idea and that Paul should go away. His reputation in the UK is completely shot, isn't it?

No doubt whatsoever Paul's reputation took a bit of a beating last summer with the Jubilee and Olympics in the UK,to say otherwise is nonsense although i thought he was shocking at the Jubilee i thought later in the summer he was sounding more like his old self so the stick he got was more than a little unfair. As for this collaboration im not so sure at all,Nirvana are gone, never to return its lightening in a bottle that will never be recaptured and to say this is a "reunion" is utter and complete garbage, hogwash of the highest order and for me i hope its treated as Paul and the other chaps doing a cover of whatever song they choose, surely Grohl is now more famous for being in the Foo Fighters than a band he was only in for what 2 years or so and had little to no musical input. I hope this is just paper talk and the song they do is great they know their chops, they don't need to cover anybody just be themselves as i say Nirvana died with Kurt its sad but the truth.

I agree with all of you....This would seem to be THE night for Too Much Rain. He could introduce it by saying this will be the first and only time I will do this song live, since it is so appropriate to what has happened. Additionally, it would require little or no backing from others (depending on the arrangement), therefore making it easy to pull off. P.S....See my New York listing below? That was at MSG on December 11, 1989 with Fun Club tickets. Wish I could be there 23 years and a day later tonight, so everyone who is there yell extra loud for me, please.
-
I'm indifferent on "Too Much Rain." The hook reminds me too much of The La's' "There She Goes."
-
I Love both those songs audi .:-):-):-)

My wife and I arrived at our friends place in the Bronx after midnight. We got a good nights sleep in their murphy bed and now we're getting ready to head down to MSG for one of the most historic concerts I have been blessed to see. The Paul with Dave Grohl and Krit Novoselic rumours are something that I would have never guessed! I just thought that Paul would bring out Grohl again with Bruce Springsteen and instead of Joe Walsh they bring out Eric Clapton for "the End." Either way, I just hope that Paul still plays "Twist and Shout" or something else with Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band. That Paul plays "I Wanna Be Your Man" or something else with the Rolling Stones. That Eric Clapton plays "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Something" or "All Things Must Pass" with Paul.
-
Paul + Nirvana Paul + Stones Paul + Clapton Paul + Springsteen Paul + The Who Which one will come true? It will be a fantastic concert even if it's just Paul + His Own Band.
-
Should be a fantastic night!!! Unfortunately I have to work today but I hope to get to The Garden between 5-6 I am really psyched by the possible "pairings" tonight. Enjoy everyone!!!!
-
How did you guys get tickets? Is it general admission or does each ticket come with a reserved seat? By the way, this picture of the stage makes the available space look rather small... how many people will fit in there? And here are a couple of pictures taken yesterdary during paul's soundcheck:
-
They soundchecked the pyro? Maybe a new practice following the Vancouver incident.

Paul + Nirvana
That's the one! http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/music-arts/paul-mccartney-subbing-kurt-cobain-nirvana-reunites-article-1.1218363
-
So am I the only once EXTREMELY nervous for Paul? He's trending worldwide on Twitter with most of the responses seemingly negative and as much as I want him to show people he's still got it i'm very worried he's going to F*CK it up!!
-
yes, it seems like the strangest news ever but Paul is announced like "The new Nirvana's frontman" New Musical Express now on facebook "So this is happening. Paul McCartney to front a reunited Nirvana in NYC tonight. But what should they play? Let us know your dream Nirvana/Macca setlist" One said "The Frog Chorus" http://cactusflowersmaccaandbeatlesblog.blogspot.com.es/2012/12/paul-mckurtney.html SIR Paul McCartney will front a Nirvana reunion tonight ? replacing late singer Kurt Cobain. "The sensational gig will see the surviving members of the grunge band together for the first time in 20 years. And former Beatle Sir Paul will sing with them as they play a new song at a star-filled charity concert in New York. Macca, 70, has been secretly working with Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic after a recent session at a studio. The pair were founding members of Nirvana along with Cobain, who committed suicide in 1994. Troubled soul ... Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain killed himself in 1994 Sir Paul said he rang Dave, 43, who asked him to come along to ?jam with some mates?. Macca had suggested they ?just make something up? and found himself playing with Grohl on drums, bassist Krist, 47, and unofficial fourth Nirvana member Pat Smear, 53. He said: ?I didn?t really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said ?Whoa? You guys haven?t played together for all that time? ?And somebody whispered to me ?That?s Nirvana. You?re Kurt.? I couldn?t believe it.? The Rolling Stones will also play at the 12.12.12 concert for victims of Hurricane Sandy"
-
I'm glad they included Pat Smear... very cool! I can't see Paul doing "Teen Spirit." My guess- "Come As You Are" and "In Bloom."
-
I will watch the show tomorrow, I guess it will possible to see a recording of the show somewhere. I would like to see all the show before getting news about it. So I guess I'll log here way after whatever happens, Frog Chorus or Smells Like Teen Spirit.
