Beck & Paul do Find My WAy
I expected to be dazzled by Beck being involved in this, but I'm not getting it. It's a bit funkier and maybe more danceable and all, but Paul could have done that himself. What exactly is Beck's input here???? Of all the people involved in the remix of the album, it was Beck's involvement/contribution that I was looking forward to the most. This doesn't do much....for me.
I said it on the "McCartney III" thread and I will say it here also. I thought this video was terrible, the album cover bouncing up and down and then around a record player for over 4 minutes is boring . The official video of "Find My Way" is IMO wonderful and showcases McCartney being a one man band which is the essence of the album. The video also shows McCartney really enjoying doing the vocal on this song, just love the official video. This version of the song does nothing for me and does not compare to the original which I think is a wonderful pop/rock song with no room for improvement.

Beck joinedZane Lowe to talk about the new song 'Find My Way'

I agree with Yankeefun2. I think Beck's cover distorts the song, makes it flat and meaningless. It's a bit of a shame because it's a great song. I just hope it doesn't get worse.

He said he played his Hofner bass. (see FB video oobu posted)

While I love the original one very much, I’m also enjoying this very “chilled” version. It’s like laying on the beach, warm winds washing over you and looking at the shapes the clouds are making against a beautiful blue sky. Very relaxing...

Strangely, I don't mind this version. Even if it is too long. Although that video clip is just awful.

Slidin is the next song from the upcoming McCartney III Imagined album that was released yesterday in video. It is Radiohead's Ed O'Brien's version (EOB Remix). It is a blistering rock remix version done at a faster pace. Although I personally like Paul's original better, Youtube's responses in the comments' section are decidedly favorable.
Maybe someone can put the new "Slidin" video up on Maccaboard.

I'm liking the faster pace, dare I say it, better. There's a differentiation in the guitar parts that I like too.

I think this is even a little too fast. I feel like you have to chase the song. It's not pleasant. It's to each his own after all.

Thanks Little Willow! I couldn't reply earlier because I was at the Dentist (Endodontist) getting a "root canal". Thank God it's over and I'm home now.
I love your Maccaboard name. Little Willow is one of my all time favorite Paul Solo songs. It's so great and should be as universally known as "Blackbird".
I'm so glad your video posted here has the comments/replies feature opened So far the comments are very strong by and large.
Like Yankeefan, I was never that crazy about the McCartney III Imagine "project" as I already love Paul's original album. I must confess that I wouldn't mind if the EOB "Slidin" Remix (Ed O'Brien from Radiohead) did very well on the charts. Anything to push Paul's great album to the general public. I actually like Paul's original a little better.

Phew, I hope that wasn't too painful.
Thank you very much. You are very kind. I also like your name very much. I find it very original -

Ah, sorry. I didn't know that.

I'm loving this new version of Slidin'....
Much better than the album version.
Which was still a good song.
But this new release slams it into life. Should've been the version on the album-proper.

uDiscover has green vinyl 2LPs with a different cover.

I'm a big Radiohead fan, but I don't like EOB's version of Slidin' much at all. On the original McCartney 3 album Slidin' isn't one of my favorite songs, but I do like it quite a bit, and I definitely like it much better than this cover version.
-
I have to say that I like both versions of "Slidin" about equally. I was singing "Slidin" to myself during my bike ride this morning.
Personally, I think that Paul's version of Slidin is the 2nd best song on McCartney III after "Seize the Day". After those 2, I think the next best songs on McCartney III are, in my opinion, toss-ups between "The Kiss of Venus", "Find My Way" and "When Winter Comes".
I wonder if MPL made a slight mistake of not putting out EOB's remix/cover of "Slidin" first rather than the Beck and/or Dominic Fike covers. EOB's version is very true to Paul's original except at a faster pace and I love the guitar solo's on both versions. The market for "Slidin" is more targeted to "rock" radio formats than new music or Top 40 formats. There's at least one "rock" radio startion in every market. I'm not an expert but I think the success ratio of getting airplay on specific "rock" station is better than competing against all the new music released from all genres.
I'm not really concerned if McCartney III Imagine does well in the charts. My hope is that at least one of the tracks get sufficient airplay to help Paul's teriffic album (albeit short lived) continues to hang around long enough to help him get Grammy nominations for McCartney III. At this point in his great career (Beatles, Wings and Solo) I just hope he could get a true "Album of the Year" WIN. He came close with Chaos, Tug of War and Flaming Pie but he never has actually won an "Album of the Year". 2022 might just be his best chance.
