I would love to hear little willow....I would like to hear a lot off Flaming pie besides the title track and calico..
Yep, I think "Little Willow" would be a wonderful addition to acoustic set.

C'mon, dude. It's Rush. They are nowhere NEAR the level of McCartney. Still, I agree that ten brand-new songs in a row is too much.
Exactly what I was gonna say about Springsteen..I am not a fan so I admit it although I do like some of his work..he is no McCartney..so it is hard to compare anyone to Paul...Except The Beatles..aha here we are right back to the dreaded band from the sixties....No matter what the people on this forum think they are a small number compared to all his fans..he has to try to please a lot of people not just this forum.
You are right we are a small number but we are the ones not only attending concerts,we are buying his recent releases. I am willing to bet 50% of the audience has not bought record/CD since the 70's. Like I said in other posts, give me 8-10 songs out of 36 and I am perfectly happy.

If Bruce Springsteen can build an entire tour on The Ghost Of Thom Joad, then, surely, Paul can build a tour around his solo work.
Example of how this could go poorly...I saw Rush last night as you know, the first half of the show was just songs from 1982-2007. I only knew three of the ten songs and it was weird. It sounded SUPERB but I lost a little bit of the connection because of that. Then, after their intermision they played their new album nearly in full....appox. anhour of songs nearly no one knew. The crowd was in and out of he arena, up and down, fidgetyand few sang along. Again, it sounded sesational but they pushed the audience away. I don' think it was smart t sit there and belt out 10 consecutive songs from a brand new album. Then, they ripped through four hts from the 70's and went home. My point is: you need more than "your four hits from the 70'" to entertain an arena of fans.
McCartney plays more than 4 hits from the 60's and 70's -lol. I am realistic and understand that Beatles/Wings are going to dominate the setlist. All I want is about 8-10 songs from a current setlist of 36 to be his solo work that he has not done live. IMO-25 songs from Beatles/Wings era should be enough to satisfy those fans. I also think McCartney is smart enough to know how to mix the solo songs into the setlist so the Beatle fans don't get too bored - lol.
Paul is smart enough that's for sure because until there's gaps in the seats as people stop going he will play sell out show after sell out show with pretty much the same set list as he's doing now. I too would love to hear songs certainly from McCartney 2,perhaps my favorite solo album but i guess im a bit of a realist and accept that Paul is Paul and he will continue to play the hits as he see's them. And while we're talking other artists its true Paul is on another level to everyone else,he operates on a different plain to other artists,in the past year ive been to plenty of gigs and am going to plenty more in the coming months but i'd give them up in a heartbeat to see him, thats not to say i dont criticize him i do he's far from perfect but while we have to chance i'd see him once a day and twice on a Sunday and i can think of no one else i would say that about.

Paul has paid more-than-sufficient homage to the legacy of songs that made him a legend. And they have all been equally, sufficiently documented in concert-videos and live-albums. Count 'em. What I'm saying is that folks like me, who have made his '80s/'90s/2K albums Gold and Platinum, deserve a show for us. After nearly 25 years of "naaah-na-na-nana-nah-nahhhhhh" concert-experiences, this is not an unreasonable request.
You don't DESERVE anything. It's your Privilege to see him, not vice versa. He doesn't owe you a thing. That's the kind of attitude from boardies here that always gets me. Who do they think they are anyway, saying that Paul owes them a gig or a setlist or anything else?!
-
Jesus what is up with y'all lately? Paul can play whatever he wants to play. Let him be. I thought fans don't complain.... Quit your bitching.

Well, beats me, I just saw the set lists for the Brazilian shows (Fortaleza show still remains for today), and I took a big shock, I never ever thought he would dare to do LTWTMS adn Hi, Hi, Hi again in his life, but it's great. Last week, in the Predict the next set list thread, I wrote I only expected for 3-4 changes in the set list, and oh boy, what a huge surprise I took when I saw he changed a total of 10 SONGS, that's insane for a Macca show, and I guess all the complaining many of us fans made in this forum along these last years, because it's a gigactic surprise that he changed the show radically, I would never think he would reinvent the list until he retired, being the last most changed set the US Tour, but at least he changes it for good, and not exclusively for US fans, but it looks this is going to be for the whole tour. Let's only hope he doesn't change the set list back to the old one. No, I I think this time it's for real, these songs are staying for a while, I hope, a long, long time.
-
Seeing some comments, I realize there are still complains about the set list, and I gotta tell you, that this time around, no one can complain, I would love it, more than 3 years ago, more than the last year, that he would come back to Mexico, cause this is the kind of set list I've been waiting for since the US Tour, I mean that this set list IS the REAL CHANGE many fans were waiting for. So now, I don't really see the point to complain, except maybe for totally unliked songs like Here Today, or overplayed like BITUSSR or LMRI. Ah, and congrats to all the concert-goers, you're truly lucky that Macca finally made the real change to the set list.

Another thing, this "new" set list is a huge possibility to get a new CD, DVD or CD/DVD, since it has many changes, and keeps the other not overplayed songs (Junior's Farm, 1985, Abbey Road medley)

No kidding he can play whatever he wants and I can hope/wish he would do more songs from his solo career. I don't call that "bitchin", it is just my opinion.

I was almost exactly your age when I got into McCartney hardcore. When Paul toured in '89/'90, I loved seeing all those never-before-performed Beatles/Wings songs. But I am telling you the God's-truth when I tell ya' that the songs that blew me away when I heard 'em live: -We Got Married -Figure Of Eight -Put It There -My Brave Face Today, it is as if those songs were never recorded.
You rock Audi !! Agree totally
Glad to get a little love 'round here.

The "complaint" is that McCartney has almost ignored the last 30 years of his career as a artist in his concerts lately. Some people think McCartney is more than Beatle Paul or a part of Wings and would like a bigger part of the show to reflect the last 30 years. You and others love the current setlist and that is fine, you and everyone else is entitled to that opinion. I just ask that people who disagree a bit get the same respect I am showing you and others.

The unwritten rule has always been that informed fans are the ones most qualified and justified to do any bitchin'. I recall Chris Rock's appearance on Howard Stern, and he makes this very same point: (skip to 26:55)

I saw that 1989 tour at Madison Square Garden. He had never played any Beatles songs live at the time, other then the few he played that are on Wings Over America. The show started with this unbelievable video that had the Garden in a near frenzy as McCartney took the stage. The whole place was standing, jumping and screaming. He then opened with Figure of Eight, and you could feel all the oxygen just sucked out of the room. I think that was the last tour that he opened with a solo song. I have seen him play about 20 times. The fact is, Don McLean can't play a concert without playing American Pie. The Stones can't play a show without playing Satisfaction and Jumping Jack Flash. McCartney will ALWAYS play those Beatles classics, because the majority of concert goers are people that are seeing him for the first and only time. That's the benefit of a 35+ song set list. There's something for everybody. I think his old set list was awesone. I think his new setlist is awesome.

Maybe Randy was just testing out his Clint Eastwood impression: "Deserve's got nothing to do with it." I really didn't see anything in your post Audi that necessitated such an angry response. We're all just sharing opinions here. My ideal set list: He plays Ram in its entirety and then McCartney II. Now THAT would be awesome.

Not to take a sharp personal turn or anything but, with that attitude...I would've never heard "Hey Jude" live. Does any fan of Paul McCartney's music deserve that?
I agree...Look at sales alone...I bet paul considers what the dollars for each has done for him...Just as stated on here that is why he plays more Beatles in Brazil..I do not believe that is the case because I think he will not drastically change the setlist for here. Sorry Audi..I love the Wings and solo stuff but like the old saying "Dance with the one who brought you. I would have been really disappointed the first time I saw him if he did not do those classics. In my opinion this forum appears to be slanted more towards the solo and Wings material, and that is f__ine but this is a minute percentage of the world of music fans, most do not take the time to get into a lot of the solo material. Just my opinion..Don't crucify me..LOL
Well this IS a PM forum...the Beatles are located under "YESTERDAY". I hear there are also Beatles forums around. Crucify you? The ones that want more of his current music (oh say from the last 30 years) are the ones getting crucified on the paulmccartney forum. Not the Beatles forum...and yes I really do know he was a Beatle & wrote all those songs. But he wrote many many more than that. And yes I know most of the 1st timers want Bealtes music. I've always said that he should have 2 setlists & advertize them as such. Mainly when he plays a 2 night gig in one city. I know I would go to both. One night mainly Beatles relics & the other night more current songs with a few Beatles thrown in.

Yes, but wouldn't a real fan who enjoys Paul just be thankful for the songs he's playing? Lets face it guys, Paul doesn't have many touring years left. This could be the last major tour. He's obviously not going to do a full solo show, or full Fireman show, and as much as we would love to see that, it ain't gonna happen. Ever. So why don't the real fans sit back, suck it up, have some snacks, and enjoy this tour.

I don't have any problem with people who complains, in fact, I'm one of those, and I support your point, I also think he would still drop more songs, and add Silly Love Songs (this one was reworked in Broad Street, sounds completely different from the WATSOS version), No More Lonely Nights, Figure of Eight, My Brave Face or some other gems that aren't from Wings or Beatles. And of course we have the right to say what we want as long as we're not offending anyone.
-
But anyone who thinks Wings and Solo are better than the Beatles should get their ears checked.
