Since we are all just guessing, I suspect MY VALENTINE will go, so will 1985 and maybe JUNIOR'S FARM.
Again...why would he drop three songs he has NEVER played in Japan? Assuming we get a new song from the new album in each "section" of the show...I suspect these to be dropped... Let Me Roll It...electric song My Valentine...piano song We Can Work it Out...acoustic song
Can you provide proof that McCartney keeps songs in the set list merely because they have never been played in a certain place?? What happened to THE WORD/ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE? COME AND GET IT? YOU WON'T SEE ME? Those have not been played in Japan and probably won't be.
Has he flat out said it? No. But there are a lot more songs FOR IT than the three you just posted against it.
I'm not getting you. I never said HE SAID anything. History is on my side. Someone else even posted as much above. McCartney does not keep songs in the set list because he has not played them in a certain country. I can provide even more examples if you like. But, OK, if it makes you feel better, he will keep those songs in the set list you posted for the Japan shows.

Well what more proof is there than what comes out of the man's mouth? And the songs I posted were to be dropped...

Sorry, this is a really long thread and I haven't read the whole thing. maybe this has already been discussed. But I'm just wondering, with Paul apparently being on a mission to dust off every one of "his" Beatles songs by the end of his touring career, which ones are left? I came up with about 17 prior to this tour so I think it's now in the 13 range (since YMSK, ATN, BFTBOMK and LR have been played). That's of course only counting the songs that are listed with the songwriter "McCartney" or "McCartney, with Lennon" on the wiki entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_songs_recorded_by_the_Beatles But there are others that are seemingly 50/50 ("Lennon and McCartney") that he's never done that I suppose he could pull out at any time, though I would consider the possibility more remote. (although he has played Eight Days a Week & A Day In the Life, I believe the others remain untouched) This also doesn't count songs that he wrote but Ringo sang. They've been part of Ringo's live repertoire and I get the impression that by now they're just considered Ringo's songs. Is there a definitive list of "eligible" Beatles songs Paul has yet to play live? I'm pretty sure Rocky Raccoon is one of them. I think also Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Oh! Darling.
-
If we include hit songs written with John: HOLD ME TIGHT, THERE'S A PLACE, FROM ME TO YOU, SHE LOVES YOU, I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND, THANK YOU GIRL, IT WON'T BE LONG, ANYTIME AT ALL, WHEN I GET HOME, TELL ME WHY, HONEY PIE, MARTHA MY DEAR, ANOTHER GIRL, WAIT, IN MY LIFE, WHEN I'M 64, OH DARLING.

I wouldn't include hit songs written by John, personally, because he tends not to play those. My experience is mostly from live albums which obviously don't cover every tour ever. I'm surprised not to see Rocky Raccoon on the list, as well as Maxwell's Silver Hammer. On the other hand, I'm really surprised When I'm 64 is on the list.

I used to agree about Paul not playing songs written in the main by John. But since McCartney has played PLEASE PLEASE ME and MR. KITE, it think all bets are off. And the reason is, Paul can claim he was in the room or suggested a word. I am not being flip, just saying that Paul seems more inclined in recent years to play Beatle tunes clearly identified with John.

Fair enough... I forgot Mr. Kite was John, too... But I see no Walrus on the list... are you telling me Paul has played this?

No. But it would be a kick to hear him do that one!!

Damn right it would! Sorry, I thought your list was meant to be a definitive list of Beatles songs he had never played live.

No, merely some musings. It is harder and harder to predict what Paul will play. I forgot to put Rocky Raccoon and Maxwell's Silver Hammer. SO many good songs!

Random thought goes in random thread: I also just now realise 'I've Just Seen A Face' has been transposed all that time.
Wow! That was random!
Haha! It was for Audi, we are both taking note of such things .

Don't know if this has been mentioned before, but there are 2 Paul Beatle songs that I think could go down very well whether it is a stadium/large arena or even a smaller, intimate venue. They are: TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE - a very underrated Paul song that I don't believe he has ever played. I think his "voice" today could still do a great job on it. Don't know who would do the harmony with him....maybe Abe. O' DARLING - I used to think that Paul vocally could not do this great classic until I saw a U-Tube cover on O'Darling. It was a guy/girl team with the young lady doing the vocal. She just did it in a bluesy vocal style and it sounded really good. No other instrument except the guitar but the guy was really good. His first name was Ted and he has a lot of Beatle songs on his site. He does a real good job on "I'll Be on My Way". Ted and his sometimes lady vocalist also do a great job on "In Spite of All the Danger". Upon hearing O'Darling sung that way, I am convinced that Paul could it very well even at 71. You never know, it could give the song new life if people heard Paul do it in a new, softer Bluesy style. I don't believe that Paul at this point should even try to duplicate the Abbey Road version.
-
I agree.
-
Just looked the guy/girl duo on U-Tube. They are Ted Rosedale (he goes by Teladesor) and Rachel Barash. Maybe this style of O'Darling could only be done in a small intimate venue as compared to the large venues on the Out There Tour but it would be great to hear Paul do it in this style at some point. Technically, I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks. Could someone put the O'Darling video of Ted and Rachel on this post. I would be curious what you guys think of Rachel's voice and if Paul could O'Darling in this style. There is a video of Ted and Rachel doing it live together but I like the Rachel solo video better. Also you might want to post their version of In Spite of all the Danger. Love that one too. Thanks

Haven't really kept myself up to date, so excuse me if this was already discussed, but McCartney mentioned something very interesting in this interview from already almost 4 months ago now:
"Out there" is mentioned in a song of the upcoming album. And I quote: "once we start singing that song it will tie in with the tour name". (07:20) -
And the suspense builds...
