Hi everyone, For a while now, I've been thinking that it could be interesting if Paul changed the songs that he plays in tribute to John and George. I love "Something" and "Here Today", but I find that they have lost a lot of their emotional impact as tributes through repetition over the past decade or so. If Paul were to change the tribute songs, what would you like to hear him play? Here are my suggestions... For George: - When We Was Fab - My Sweet Lord - Here Comes the Sun - All Things Must Pass For John: - In My Life - Imagine - Instant Karma - All You Need Is Love What do you guys think?

Andrew check out the rehearsal footage from CFG. Songs were tried out by different vocalists on diff songs. What eventuated on the night wasn't necessarily the way it was started. Am I making sense? It's 8pm now...and I'm on my phone from my local boozer!

Enough tribute songs. Period (as the yanks say).

Interesting! So, which other songs did Paul try?

Paul did ATMP on his Euro summer 04 tour. And it sounded great!

I just had a thought: Another option for the John tribute might be George's "All Those Years Ago"?

Cool! I didn't know that! I thought it had been "Something" non-stop since 2002!

What about a Dylan tribute instead, then? Maybe something from "Blood on the Tracks"?

You mean 'Something'? I think he only performed While My Guitar Gently Weeps one time(as part of one of those large various artist concerts - maybe the Jubilee concert???)

I think all the Beatles songs he sings are tributes to...The Beatles. I'd rather he not sing their (John & George) solo songs. Paul barely has enough of his own solo songs in concert.

'In My Life' acoustically for both of them: poignant, and he's got a contribution to the song itself. "Here's a song to lift the mood a bit..." *cue factory sound effects loop *cue John Hammel on stage to hand the Rickenbacker *cue waking up from dream

I agree. Still I am really happy just seeing Paulie, so whatever he wants to sing is cool with me.

take a sad song and make it better

Ahh, I've thought the same many times. I don't mind his current tributes, but I always thought it would be cool if he mixed them around a bit...one song this show, then another tribute the next. Even if it was just a cycle of three or four. John I do like the Help!, Strawberry Fields, Give Peace A Chance tribute that he did a while ago. Wouldn't mind to see that back. Also fitting might be In My Life, Across the Universe, Norwegian Wood, Beautiful Boy (I think Paul really liked this one), or Watching the Wheels. George All Things Must Pass - I know he played this one in the mid 2000s at some concerts. Did he also play Something as a tribute in the same show? Nonetheless, it'd be a great "tribute" if it wasn't already. My Sweet Lord, Apple Scruffs, Here Comes the Sun, I Want to Tell You, I Need You, While My Guitar Gently Weeps would all be nice as well. -Rubber Soul13

I'd say the tributes aren't needed anymore.

Tributes can be really nice, but Paul needs to refresh the songs. It will be AMAZING to hear him play Strawberry Fields Forever/Help! /Give Peace A Chance like he did in 1990 (it sounds so good!

). And for George he can play a medley too, maybe I Want To Tell You/I Me Mine/Got My Mind Set On You (most people know this song as George's). This will be fantastic to hear (especially John's medley).

Agree with NobodyToldMe. In My Life...tribute for both and on to the next song. Plus it's a beautiful tune.

For George, I think either Here Comes the Sun (for a more cheerful approach) or Isn't it a Pity (for a more somber approach) could work
