I checked the setlist form the second Seattle Show. He did replaced woman and wives with let'em in... that means no Macca III song in that show ! I'm without words considering the fact that songs like this are perfect for the current level of voice. It's the same like "Confident" before. IMO this song did sounded very well during the three gig's McCartney performed it 2008
. Never understand why songs like I don't know: Alligator ,on my way to work or sun is shining never got a real chance to get into or stay in the setlist.... Together with songs like every present past, mr. bellamy , dominoes, find my way ... which never played live. On the other side there are songs like mr. kite (lennon), helter skelter, something (harrion) ob la di, or 1985 (performed over 300 times) which could easy take a break. For a fan of macca's complete lifework that's all a big disappointment...
I'm happy that I had the chance to listen songs like come and get it, wonderful christimas time, I'm looking thru you, another girl, ram on, only mama knows, temporary secr., flaming pie, calico skies, every night live and at least on my way to work, everybody out there, bluebird during soundchecks. Now I'm more than unsure whether I would pay again for a show which isn't updated enough in every aspect.
Why doesn't he performe people want peace + give peace as chance reprise now? I wish someone would asked him in an interview
Very good post Mr. Flaming Pie. His Solo Career has unfortunately taken a "Back Seat".
I love the man and he does give it his all as far as a full show. As I said on a previous Post, I would be happy with 3 songs from McCartney 3...Seize the Day, Find My Way and Slidin plus keeping "Women and Wives" in the Setlist. It was one of the few songs that he sung well.
isn't it crazy that were're asking for only a handfull songs....because an overworked setlist will never happens again following the logic of the last 10 touring years. A Setlist with 6+ songs from the current album feels like an alternate reality although macca did it in past. All albums at least from "Memory" till "Macca III" would be worth it.

I've been very busy this morning and like "Macca" I never give up.
I responded to Paul's own latest question in the new May issue of "You Gave Me the Answer" in the Home Section of the Paul McCartney Website. I just hope it stays up. I basically answered Paul's own question of ..."How do you add new songs from an Album like McCartney 3. Paul's follow-up question is... How do you add new songs when it forces you to drop old favorite Beatle songs from the existing Setlist.
As I said above, I hope my reply stays up on our favorite Website.

I read the article and SMH, he is hopeless. I saw your post on went to read your reply and did not see it. Maybe, I am missing something. If possible, send me a PM or reply to this post what your answer was to him. Really Paul, do you think the audience would care if you replaced "In Spite of All Danger", "Fuh You", "Come On To Me"and "Queenie Eye".

No song from "McCartney III" is just pathetic, I am almost speechless.

Yankeefan...I just checked on Maccaboard. I looked in the Home Section. At the very end of the "You Gave Me The Answer" article I reponded and it is showing on my Maccaboard. I used "Discus" to make my reply. Perhaps you need to plug in "Disqus" in your Log-In. Let me know if you see it.
There is also a line at the bottom that reads "Add Disqus to Your Site". Maybe that will do it for you.

Yankeefan...I did a PM to you showing my reply to May's "You Gave Me the Answer". Have you rechecked the "You Gave Me The Answer" reponses. There now is a 2nd reply (after my initial one) from a gentleman named Robert. His reply is very similar to mine.
I think you might have to sign up for "Discus" if you haven't already. It is pretty easy to do.
-
Hey Yankeefan...I just went into Maccaboard and apparently they deleted my reponse to May's "You Gave Me the Answer. My reply was the initial one.
They have not deleted the 2nd reponse. That gentleman's first name is Robert and I replied to his reponse. I said that I agree 100%.
Do you see Robert's Response and is my reply just below it.

Yes, see PM I just sent you. Not liking they deleted your initial response. Wonder why?

I want to ask other board members who want Paul to do songs from "McCartney III" to read his remarks in "You Gave Me The Answer" and reply to it. I would like Paul to know that there are people out there that really want to hear solo songs live. While we may be in the minority in his concert audience, we are the ones paying money to Paul for his new music and want to hear more of it live.
-
Just noticed that someone has posted a new reply to "You Gave Me The Answer" article. This is a guy who is complaining that the song "Yesterday" has been dropped from the Setlist because he used to sing "Yesterday" as a lullaby to his Daughter when she was 13. You can't please everybody (think Garden Party by Ricky Nelson). This response helps Paul's reply to his latest "You Gave Me the Answer" article.
Again, my reply to all of this is that Paul has played many, many Beatle songs many times. Isn't it fair for people to want to hear a small amount of his new songs over Beatle Songs. For Paul's legacy, it would be better in my opinion since he had a pretty successful career after the Beatles.

BJ, I just counted the songs from the concert last night and the breakdown is 22 Beatle songs, 6 Wings songs and 8 solo songs. (36 songs in total). This means that Paul is giving the first time fans basically 28 hits. Considering most artists only do 20-22 songs in their concerts that is plenty and there should be no complaints. It may sound like a broken record but all people like us are asking is to mix up those 8 solo songs better. Is it really wrong for people to want to hear 3 songs from his most recent album which was critically acclaimed and received Grammy nominations?
Ricky Nelson was right when he wrote "Garden Party", there is only so much you can play for the fans to please them. As an artist, you should be a little selfish and play some things you want. The problem IMO is Paul let's his ego/feeleings get hurt when crowd does not respond as much to solo /unknown songs. You would think that would not get to him and the adoration he gets for 3/4 of the concert would be enough.
Other artists who were part of a famous group don't play as much as Paul does from their famous group when they do concerts. For example, Sting is touring this year and out of 22 songs he plays, only 8 are from the Police. I get he is not the icon Paul is but he is not exactly "chopped liver". I saw Lindsay Buckingham awhile ago and out of 20 songs, he might have played 4 from his days with Fleetwood Mac. I am willing to bet that while people in the audience might have wished for a few more songs from the famous group of these two artists, they were still had a good time at the show.
Sadly, time is running out and at his age now Paul is not going to change his ways. It is a crying shame IMO that Paul has never fully embraced his solo legacy live but if it doesn't not bother him who am I do say anything? -lol
P.S. I sent you one more final PM update.

I put also a statements there. I'm wondering about the timing of this articel. It would be interessting to know what brain, rusty, wix and abe thinks about that all. I mean to remember that abe told during the special "somthing new" that they rehearsed nearly the complete "NEW" album....

great arguments! I've got similar thoughts every time paul comes with this well known setlist structure from" tour" to "tour" since 2009.
Neil Young is a further expamle who performs WHAT HE LIKES. I visited 3 concerts from him and never saw significant people leaving the concerts... IMO the argument or better macca's nightmare that lot's leave his concert is nonesense considering ticket price and in connection of his from concerts 1975/76 , 1979, 1989-90 and 1993 and quite particularly the secret gigs 1991!
He said: "I’d like to do a whole show of new songs but that’s for the anoraks in the crowd,..." Whats wrong with that? He only needs to remember his own song "do it now" and start a new series of "secret gig 2.0" on the main markets (US and EU). Together with the right marketing I bet ticket will be sold faster than supposed...

Exactly! What's wrong with playing these songs, or even a whole show for the "anoraks"? Particularly since if he wanted, he could do just one show of all solo songs, film it and release it on blu-ray. Sure we'd like to hear these songs live ourselves, but I think having a blu-ray of a concert like that would go a long way towards satisfying the solo fans.

BJ - this may be your moment to put your compilation idea out there.

Excellent point. Go to some small venue like the Cavern Club and do a couple of scaled down shows in front of family and friends. Record it like you said and do more than one just in case you want to do some editing. He could break it down to two 45 minute sets with 15 minute intermission. Make the blu-ray only available to members of this board unless sales warrant a bigger release. Most of the set list could be from the last 2-3 albums and then throw in a couple of songs from long ago. Example below of a set list that I would like and reasonable. Order of songs can be changed.

When she was 13? Did you mean to type 3? And we all know the truth is he dropped it because he can't sing it properly anymore!
ETA: You read it wrong. The daughter is 13 now and he used to sing it to her when she was a baby!
I only see your reply to Robert. I replied to Brad and also wrote my own post.

Yeah, this is exactly the kind of thing I was thinking about. If he did this, he wouldn't have to use up spots in his tour set list, but we'd at least get to have a solo show in some form. I know I would love to have this.

Great Setlist Yankeefan. I would love to go to a show with that kind of Setlist. I would certainly buy the CD/Blu-Ray also.
