Is Paul really everybody's favorite Beatle?

Paul has been my favorite since I remember identifying the four Beatles on the album cover of the 1964 album,"Something New."
My mother said that when asked who my favorite was, I always said Paul (this must had been about 1968 and I was four years old). I love all four of the Beatles. John could make me laugh like no other (reading Lennon Remembers when I was about 16-17) and he was Paul's perfect creative foil. George's music, spirituality, anti-materialism, and gardening has inspired me and I am so happy to see Ringo happy and healthy in his 80s and I saw him in concert once and he was great. I don't like comparing this Beatle to that Beatle and saying this Beatle was better....
But Paul has been my favorite musician for the past 54 years. He has been a source of inspiration as a creative force and as a working class person who made it very big based on talent and drive. Our lives are full of ups and downs and the one constant for me has always been (beyond my family) McCartney's music. I cannot imagine what my life would have been without Paul McCartney in it.
Well said!
Totally agree!

HOT is on the opp side of London to me so London would be better but please do PM me nearer the time.

Isn't it Henley-on-Thames?

Back in the early 70's, I distinctly remember to many music journalists and critics (my age bracket) John was not only their favorite but they thought John was the most talented Beatle. Paul at that time was probably the least favorite Beatle by and large.
Man, how times have changed to many. Many younger music critics and younger fans recognize how much better Paul's Post Beatles'music has been and to many he's now their favorite.
Personally, I zeroed in on Paul the first time they were on Ed Sullivan. Paul seemed to be the loosest performing within the group and I Ioved his voice.
Years later after the Beatles broke up, I continued to follow his "Solo" career faithfully. Now he's easily my favorite Beatle and I think musically (overall) he is the most talented. I just wished he had played more Solo music in his subsequent tours (aside from the Wings Over America tour) and I wished he would "truly"release (or for the most part quietly) many of his fantastic "unreleased" songs to all his fans. I'm still amazed at the number of good and/or great Paul songs that are relatively unknown to even strong Paul fans.

Well, that is odd - I looked up an old PM you sent me where you said where you lived and it shows it as being NW of London, so HOT would be about halfway. *confused* PM me.

Yes, I must have had Stratford-Upon-Avon in mind.

Paul has always been my favorite followed by George's solo career.

I was always Paul and John 50/50...... as the years have rolled on, I am now probably Paul 50.5% to John 49.5%.... I love them both. Paul just slightly gets the nod because of his musical versatiliy.
And, as the years have rolled on, I just love George more and more. Not just his music, but his great grasp on perspective. He didn't take shite as an answer.
I must admit, until I was told otherwise, I always thought Kestrel was a woman too.... I think it is the avatar.
The lesson being... perceptions can often be wrong!
Totally agree about loving George more and more and that he didn't take shit from reporters. I thought Kestral was a woman, also.

In the 70's, Paul was considered the "villain" and the main reason the Beatles broke up. His solo music was considered "fluff' and not very good, just check out early reviews of RAM. George even outshined Paul with his early 70's music and his benefit concert for Bangla Desh. He was also ridiculed for having Linda in the band with him who had no real musical skills at that time. John was also considered more "hip" and"avant garde" than Paul in the 70's by music critics and the general public.
To be fair to John, his solo career was tragically cut short by his death at age 40. Who knows how good his music might have been if he had lived. Paul flourished commercially with Wings and produced one great album (BOTR) and several good albums. Paul also demostrated what an awesome live performer he was with the WOA tour doing mostly songs not associated with the Beatles. Paul would have his ups and downs in the 80's but he really came into his own writing incredible music from the mid 90's until today. Also, younger music critics revisited album like RAM and now it is considered much better than the original reviews..
The first time the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan I zeroed in on his voice and the fact that he played the guitar left handed which I thought was cool. He showed on the Ed Sullivan shows he could vocally rock with the best of them (including the Little Richard type falsetto) and then sing a beautiful ballad like "Yesterday".
Finally, I have agreed with you for years BJ about his solo career. He did not promote it enough over the years IMO and his songwriting genius as a solo artist will be overlooked by the general public. It is only fans who have faithfully followed him after Wings that are aware how prolific a songwriter he continues to be at almost 80 years old.

Shockingly, people who post on Paul McCartney's message board tend to think Paul was their favorite Beatle. Stop the presses!!! He was always my favorite, too, but I did have a special spot in my heart for John, who could be blunt and outrageous in ways that Paul generally doesn't. I cried for a week when he was murdered.

The latest "fifth Beatles" Peter Jackson was briefly my fav back in late November but Paul has always been it. Must admit that after Wild Life I had my doubts but I was only 16 then and figured I could give him time to get it together and he has!

Paul has always been my favorite BeaTle since Day 1. He was kinda shy back then and that was endearing. Over the years and then his Solo career cemented that thought. His music is mainly happy music and also family oriented. Love it all, even Oceans Kingdom. Wish he had done a DVD for posterity. Stella's costumes great classical music and the dancers were awesome! Wish I had made a long video of it.

I really like Mr. McCartney's music. But I am not in love with him at all. I just like his ideas. The first time I read the Beatles' biography, the one who touched my heart was Mr. John Lennon.
