Spokane show

How many people here are going to Paul's Spokane show this Thursday?
-
I have to say that I'm extremely curious with this 1st Show. My main questions are:
**What is Paul and Band going to "add "to their new Setlist? Like Yankeefan and others have said, the no brainers are maybe 3 or 4 from McCartney 3. My picks would be some of the best songs on McCartney 3 like "Seize the Day", "Slidin" and "Find My Way". If Paul retains his special "horn" players I wouldn't be surprised if he added "Deep Down". I would think it is relatively easy to sing and it would give a soulful, up tempo song in the mix. The horns could be a great addition to a "live" performance. Another possibility for a piano based tune from McCartney 3 might be "Women and Wives".
The other interesting thing to see is whether Paul and Band puts a new Beatle song in the mix. "Get Back" might be the most logical choice but I would love to see Paul and Band perform "I Want to Hold Your Hand" as an Opener and never performed "live" before. That would be an exciting addition and provide a lot of Internet Buzz to the initial Tour show.
** My other big curiosity would be the shape of Paul's voice. Will the long rest help his voice or are his vocals shot compared to his tours from 10 or 20 years ago. That is the million dollar question. If Paul is still lacking confidence in his voice, I could easily see this tour being pretty much the same of recant shows. If that is the case, I can easily see Paul doiing more "sing along" type songs with the audience rreally helping him out. I could see more songs like Ob La Dii, Love Me Do, Dance Tonight etc remaining in the setlist.
This Thursday is just a few days away and we will definitely have answers to these question very soon.

If I had to make a wager, the "McCartney III" songs will be "Find My Way", "Slidin" and "Women And Wives". I would love him to surpise the hell out of me and open with "Find My Way" and follow it with "Get back" -lol. I like "Seize The Day" better but think Paul would like to do one new song from the piano. IMO no way he does "Deep Down", it would wind up being one of those "bathroom break" songs .

"Get Back" makes more sense due to the documentary but I would admit "I Want To Hold Your Hand" would probably create internet buzz. I do worry about Paul doing "high" part in "I Want To Hold Your Hand" at this stage in his career.

I don't think the long rest will help, think his voice will not be very good and the band/crowd will need to assist. I agree 100% with you that Paul needs to stay mostly with the "sing along" type Beatle songs. Another reason he should do more solo songs off "McCartney III" and Egypt Station" is that they were recorded with his more current voice and songs are tailored to his voice now.

Everybody needs to remember that this concert is on the west coast so it will not start much before midnight on the east coast (US) . I think the time difference is 7 or 8 hours with London.
OT - See PM.

Good points Yankeefan. I don't think it will happen but I would love to hear him (and the Band) do "I Don't Know" and Dominoes from Egypt Station. Paul did do "I Don't Know" at a few shows on his last tour (during rehearsals only) and the one I saw on Youtube sounded very good. The other ones from Egypt Station I would love to hear on this tour would be "Happy With You", "Who Cares" and "Confidante". You make a great point that Egypt Station is so recent that his vocals on that great CD were pretty much his current vocals. The unfortunate thing on Paul's last tour he picked the wrong Egypt Station songs with Fuh You and Come On To Me. They were the songs the record company were pushing but clearly not the best songs on the CD.
I know Paul hasn't ever done "I Want to Hold Your Hand" on tour but now might be the time. With the help of his Band, maybe Paul shouldn't worry about getting the haronies perfect and just do it. It's still a great song and vocally his Band is pretty good. LIke you said, it would be a way for the Internet to light up this new tour especially if they did a credible job. It would no doubt be the biggest thing from this tour if he added "I Want to Hold Your Hand".
As you said, we will see soon. I won't be looking at reports from the show that late on Thursday night. I'll just wait to Friday and see the Setlist Additons and Changes. Hope we're right about McCartney 3 and Egypt Station songs.
Take care buddy.

If the concert starts at 8pm, it will be 11pm on the east coast and 4am in London. They are now 5 hours ahead of EDT since they switched to daylight saving time a bit later than the U.S.
I will be the night owl up until at least 3am to read the fan reviews!

I am sure the crowd will be pumped especially being the city that opens the tour. I hope and pray Paul's voice is still decent enough to carry a 2 1/2 hour show. While I do not expect huge amount of changes in the set list, I do hope it is more than just adding a couple of songs from "McCartney III'. My other hope (lol) that after being away from touring for a couple of years Paul has some different stories to tell the audience -lol. Anyway, for those attending have a great time !! I will be looking for some youtube clips tomorrow.

Hoping for I Want To Hold Your Hand or Find My Way as the opener. Backdrop graphics in the preview suggest that Find My Way is on the set list. Some other London Town graphics have other boards saying that With A Little Luck might be on the set list, now that would be incredible! One thing is for sure though by looks of the preview, Paul ain't shaving before the show - going with that scruffy whiskers look

He will shave, I bet. If he doesn't, he's making a big mistake! Hopefully Nancy will have something to say about it - "Shave Paul!" This Nancy agrees!

Let's hope that his set list will be songs that he can sing comfortably w/ his strained vocals. It would be fantastic if a good portion of the set will be from Egypt Station & III. I agree w/ the same old stories but after all he's old & like my parents they repeat themselves & that's alright. I hope those attending the concerts won't have high expectations & as the tour progesses we'll hear how his voice holds up.

In Spokane for the show! Will be interesting...

I'm worried about Glasto on that front, Paul is already pretty passe in UK media, if he croaks his way through songs he sang well in 2004, it'll be a bad next day in the press. But hopefully it's a better outcome than that.
