Here is a link to all my Maccaroo photos......I will try to do a 'best of' set later! What a great day, great crowd, great show! http://www.flickr.com/photos/41674530@N02/sets/72157634177991372/
Great pics Rick! Even Paul had to wear a (green) wristband!
Lol!" Here, sir McCartney, there's your wristband, don't lose or break it, otherwise you won't be allowed on the site and we won't get you a new one".
and you can't leave the premises or you will not be able to get back in.

I have a few pics I'll upload soon. This was my first Paul show and I'm so happy I was able to go with my mom who has never gotten a chance to see him but loved him since she first saw him on Ed Sullivan so many years ago! We waited all day and managed to get second row; she burst out crying an hour before he started! This will probably end up being my favorite show of all time, at the very least in my top 2! Everything was perfect about it, Bonnaroo was such a wonderful environment to see him. The weather that day was great, Wilco sounded phenomenal (even though I couldn't really see them from the pit line), and Paul was (of course) fantastic. I was lucky enough to catch the Stones a few nights before and, while they were excellent, Paul had a warmth and magic to his set that they lacked. I got the impression that The Stones were really into themselves and could perform in front of a mirror for all they care. Totally the opposite from Paul, he seemed to love us as much as we loved him! The tributes really drove home that feeling. I never cried as much as I did during Here, Today (a song that I'm not a huge fan of) and my mom loved his "cover" of Something (George was always her favorite). Overall, a really fantastic show. It was worth it just to see my mom's face when Paul took the stage. I've been to a handful of festivals and I've never seen/heard so much attention placed on one headliner. Every time I overheard conversations it always went back to Paul! Anyway, anyone see some other awesome shows? Some of my highlights were Wilco, R. Kelly starting his set on a forklift singing Ignition, Bjork's wonderfully weird performance, Dirty Projectors, Bob Saget, Tame Impala, and David Byrne and St. Vincent! I liked Petty's set, but I thought he could have cut down on the jams and delivered more hits.

Also, I caught the soundcheck! The video is terrible, but it's here if you are interested!

Great story!! Thank you for sharing!!

By the way, did anyone get their hands on special glasses (looked like 3D glasses) before the set? They made all of the lasers look like massive kaleidoscopes which was particularly awesome for Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite!

Is there any pro-shot available? I wasn't able to watch it through ustream.

Did anybody else notice that incredible high note Paul hit during "Nineteen Hundred And Eighty-Five"???? At first, Rod and I thought that Rusty must've done some killer harmonic or something on his guitar; then we realized: "Damn! That's PAUL!"

This was hands down one of the best Macca shows I've seen. I don't think I'll ever experience crowd energy like that in the U.S. again. I overheard people raving about the show for the rest of the weekend! Not to mention, I've had several friends come to me and admit they were wrong all these years and after seeing him they totally understand why I love him so much! Awesome feeling! Paul seemed really happy to see some regulars in the crowd, too! Thanks Rick G for the amazing pictures...as always

Did you all see that Paul played a 38 song set??!!! Jeez. I was just thinking, take care, Paul. I mean it's super for the fans there, but really as a senior myself, I don't like to think he may overdo it. I see he still puts in the John and George tributes as he was doing when I saw him last in 2005. Do the fans expect him to do those now? Like Paul "must sing Yesterday, Let It Be, Get Back, etc...and the John and George songs". If he wants to do them, fine, but I don't see that he needs to prove he loved them to the fans. I know he did. Just my thoughts when I was reading a review of Bonnaroo. Cool name that- Bonnaroo.

Amazing! Well done to you, Rick and Keri getting second row. I know how you manage to do it for regularly ticketed shows, but it's quite something to be able to persevere in the midst of a mob and get so close for a GA gig! How did you do it? Was it a stampede?

My mom and I got there incredibly early, as soon as they opened the field a bit after noon. We eventually found the pit line after it had already formed because we didn't know there was one. We got in line at about 2:00 p.m. The biggest frustration was line cutters and having to pee and eat. It didn't get that bad until closer til the show started when people started getting antsy for a spot. We stood stock still, completely packed in. We were close to the last spot guaranteed for a spot in the pit, so it was a little nerve-wracking, thinking our hard work would be for naught. When they opened the gates, it was like a flood hitting us in the back, pushing us forward until we spilled onto the field. Then people scrambled to get a space close to the stage. We were about 10 rows deep, but it still a spectacular view. It was a HARD wait, I won't lie. But it was so, so worth it.

^^^What side were you on? The left pit was super organized, the security did a really good job of kicking out all of the people who tried to cut in line and even divided us up into groups of 200 to make sure no one was pushed or trampled while going into the pit. They really did an A+ job, totally the opposite of what I've seen at most festivals (and that includes Roo two years ago).

Totally agree, handled very well by the organization and the on-site security. In situation that could have been chaos and gone to hell in half a second, from the first moment until they moved us into the pit they were on top of the situation. I went into the day expecting it to be like an episode of 'Survivor' and it ended up one of the best parties I have ever been to! A great bunch of folks, enjoyed spending the day with kids half....some a third.....my age, 99.999% very mellow. And 90% had never seen Paul before and we SOOOoooooexcited, and they blew up when he hit the stage, and he reall fed off it. The crowd were Co-Headliners at Macca-roo. The band at the party was good, too.
