I read that in a print interview, the link was provided somewhere in these forums. Will provide when I come across it again.

Unless they're involved in some project that requires them to view or read content, I don't think either Paul or Ringo sit around watching themselves in old movies or reading about themselves in books. I know Ringo has said as much. Paul even told the director of Nowhere Boy that her storyline was not the way it really was, she ignored him and made a fictional account anyway. Why would you want to be involved with people like that when they're going to make stuff up and not even listen to you? At least I know that with Lewisohn's clinical approach and extensive research, his book will be factual.

I've read Paul has a gigantic collection of Beatles memorabilia, though, really massive--so seems like he'd read some of it sometimes (?), go through some of it, why's he got all that? If not to see himself, read about himself during those glory years? Is it all for his heirs in the future?

I know you were honored and thrilled, Dr. Beatle Paul McCartney said he doesn't plan to read Lewisohn's book (he was asked). Nor does he want to see the Freda Beatles secretary documentary.

Where/when did he say that? I just listened to a radio interview where he said he hadn't seen the Freda doc but would like to.

He even let the Freda people use 2 Beatle songs. Hardly anyone gets that permission.

I guess he would say that "they weren't where it was at."

Paul just said in one of the recent interviews (there have been so many!) that he likes to watch old "newsreels" (as he called it) of The Beatles from the '60's.

I was referring to the Freda doc. Not surprised he said he wouldn't read the book.

Thank you for the link. Excellent interview which was full of good natured humour. Re: Mark's book....although Paul did say 'no' he didn't get the opportunity to answer the question properly so I wouldn't be surprised if he did end up reading the book, especially if he was sent a copy.

Great interview, Geoff is funny and asked some quite good questions. Love Paul's response at the end. And yes I think Paul will end up reading the Lewisohn book at some point.

                        DrBeatle:

Here is my full review of the book: http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com/2013/10/book-review-beatles-all-these-years.html Hope you enjoy!

Just read your review. Nice work! I skipped over the part where you reveal previously-unknown facts, since I want to discover all that myself, but you do make me excited to read the book. I agree, Lewisohn's style previously was a bit dry, although there were moments of wit in the Recording Sessions book. Glad to see he's beefed it up a bit. And I just finally read "Shout!" a year or two ago, and his attitude toward Paul is just unforgivable ("showbizzy Paul," as he sums him up at the end). I always liked Nicholas Schaffner's "The Beatles Forever," although in retrospect I think he was entirely too nasty towards Yoko. Does the deluxe of "Tune In" really just have additional photos? I thought there was more text as well.

It was actually FOUR songs! Which is completely unheard of so you know he and the rest still must like Freda. That's $1M worth if you are going by what Mad Men paid for Tomorrow Never Knows.
