Paul McCartney- New Album for 2023

My first question is?
What does "Mon Ami" (Hope I spelled it correctly) mean? In all honesty, I would be more interested if we had Paul's voice from the 90s. Looking at Oobu's abbreviated video of Paul's "Up Close at the Ed Sullivan Theater" in 1992 Paul could really sing. In those days, Paul would be able to do powerful interpretations of John and George songs.Mon ami means my friend (singular - one friend)

Thanks again. This time I listened to the complete video that accompanied your post about Paul's "Up Close" Concert. At the end, it did include the track list for this video. It also said it was a NBC Re-Broadcast. Originally I saw it when it first came out and I'm pretty sure it was on MTV without all of Paul's commentary on your video.Still I loved your video. It brought back a lot of memories. It was definitely an Edited and "Re-Broadcast" Show that later appeared on NBC. It was not the complete show.
There were quite a few songs that wasn't shown on this video. Not shown were "I Owe It All to You", C'Mon People, "Peace in the Neighborhood"and one or two more. They also didn't one song that was done later on the subsequent Off The Ground, The Complete Works (Double CD). It was Big Boys Bickering. You might remember the extra track with all the "F- Bombs". This video was more of a highlights of the Concert with a lot of Beatle songs Paul also did that night along with Paul's extra commentary. The commentary included many stories we all have heard man times.
Not sure if this was a bootleg or not, but as a fan, I would really want the complete broadcast of that night. Of the songs they did show, the "sound" was very good. As I said, Paul's vocals were top notch. As a big time Paul fan, his vocals were much better than the studio/ album versions. That is the main reason I would want Paul to "Officially" Release the complete show. By the way watching this video reminded me what a great band Paul had in the early 90's. This live concert really showed what a great lead guitarist Robbie McIntosh was, what a great back-up singer Hamish Stuart was and how great pianist Wix still is.

Getting back to the original Topic...I still like the idea of a 1 CD Starter Set for "Leftovers and Rarities" followed by a 2 CD Follow Up Package/Compilation. CORRECTIONS ! As usual, I made a couple of mistakes. They are:- I put "That Day Is Done" on both Disc 1 and
Disc 2. - On the 1 CD Starter Package, I stated that "Turned Out" was on the Deluxe Edition of Memory Almost Full. In fact, "Turned Out" was on the subsequent Deluxe Edition of the "New" album which was released a few years later.
Because of the duplication error of "That Day is Done". I would add:
- I'll Give You A Ring - B-Side to "Take It Away."
In my opinion, the "Definitive" version of "I'll Give You A Ring" is the One Hand Clapping version.
There were quite a few choices I could have made but I picked one of Paul's older songs. I love Paul's "Live" vocals on the "One Hand Clapping" show.

Some additional track notes on the 2 CD Package/Compilation for Leftovers and Rarities above.Squid - This is a very rare track that was finally Released on the Massive Flaming Pie Archive Edition in 2020. It was part of the Oobu Jubuu Section Part 3. Since it's such an upbeat , joyous Instrumental, I thought it might be a good opening track to CD 1.
Mull of Kintyre - Initially I thought this hugely successful Wings song wouldn't belong on a "Rarities" type Collection but strangely enough it never took off in the US. The US Radio Progammers started playing the B-Side "Girls School" instead. "Mull" was never played in many portions of the US. For this reason, I think it would be a good choice but I would prefer if Paul would choose a "Live" version instead. Paul never played "Mull" at his US Dates but he played "Mull" at many of his Great British, Canada and Australia shows using a local "Bagpipe" Band to mimic the studio single. I'm thinking it would be a great rare addition to the package. Paul still to this day really sings it well. Just pick out the best "Live" version for Leftovers and Rarities.
Wanderlust - one of Paul's greatest Solo songs in my opinion but it's never got the stature it deserves. It was never a single and Paul unfortunately never played it live at one of his tours around the world. I thought it would be a good idea for Paul to add the "Broad Street" version because George Martin wisely "Bookends" this great song with beautiful snippets of Here There and Everywhere to the beginning and end of the song. In my opinion, this version of "Wanderlust" makes it rare and Paul's vocals are just as good as the original on "Tug of War".
I Love This House - a very rare track that was only released on the massive Flaming Pie "Archive Edition. If is on this Oobu Joobu Section Part 1
Love Mix/Waiting for the Sun to Shine - Again another rare song that Paul finally released on the Massive Edition in 2020. It is on the Oobu Joubu Section Part 6.
Lindiana - Still Unreleased to this day. Nice ballad in my opinion.

More Track Notes on the 2CD Package for Leftovers and Rarities/ Flip Sides and Deep Cuts- Only Love Remains - "Live" Version at the Tube Show in Great Britain. This was the Show shown on YouTube where Paul is at the Piano and Judith Light (From"Who's the Boss" Fame and Linda sing Back-Up. Great sax at the end and then Paul plays a little "Great Balls of Fire" to finish the show. In my opinion, this video is very rare and would be a great audio addition to this kind of album/CD
*. I Owe It All to You- Also performed "Live" on the Up Close Concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater
*. Get Out of My Way - Up Close Concert at the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC December 1992 - That Day is Done - From the Paul and Elvis Demo tapes. I think it's much better than the Studio Version on the Flowers in the Dirt Album/CD

Additional "Track Notes" to my Post above:- India - Unreleased / This concert was on something called the "Secret Internet Show" circa 2002. It includes Paul and all his current Band members. It's more of a "jam" like track but very good in my opinion.

The more I thought about the whole idea of a "Leftovers and Rarities/ Flip Sides and Deep Cuts" Compilation, I think Paul easily has enough good songs for a Deluxe Package (3 CDs) of this proposed project. Keeping to about the same # of tracks (22), here is my recommended Disc 3:- Mama's Little Girl - B-Side to "Put It There"
- Once Upon a Long Ago - Single in Great Britain but pretty "Unknown" in the US
- Keep Coming Back to Love - B-Side to one of the "Off The Ground" Singles
- Kicked Around No More - B-Side to one of the "Off the Ground" Singles
- Try Not to Cry - one of Paul's own songs on the "Run Devil Run" Album ( Choose the best "Live" Version)
- What It Is" - Another one of Paul's Originals on "Run Devil Run" (Pick the Best "Live" Version)
- Run Devil Run - Title Cut from "Run Devil Run" (Pick the best "Live" Version
- Lonesome Town - Great Ricky Nelson Cover from Run Devil Run. Paul makes this cover his own in my opinion (Pick the best "Live" version
- Brown Eyed Handsome Man - Great Chuck Berry Cover ( Pick the Best "Live" Version
- Shake A Hand - Great cover of a Little Richard original. Paul's "Live at the Cavern Club" vocal is fantastic in my opinion.
- Celebration - This beautiful Instrumental was done ""Live" on the "Secret Internet Concert" circa 2002. Could be Disc 3 Track Opener
- Magic - Great Deep Cut on "Driving Rain"
- Sun Is Shining - Great Deep Cut on "Electric Arguments. Recently appeared on the "A Man Called Otto" Movie
- Dance Till We're High - Another Great Deep Cut on Electric Arguments
- Demon"s Dance - From the Deluxe/Collector's Edition of the "New " Album/CD
- Two Magpies - Great Deep Cut on Electric Arguments
17, Get Started - From the "Traveler's Edition" of Egypt Station. Best Version in my opinion - I Can Bet - Great Deep Cut from the "New" Album/CD
- Dominoes - Great Deep Cut on Egypt Station
- 60 Second Street- From the Travelers Edition of Egypt Station
- Off the Ground - Title Cut on the Off the Ground Album/ CD. Use the "Up Close Concert Version
- About You - Great Deep Cut on "Driving Rain"

I would not use the word "leftovers".... it implies the songs weren't good enough.... even if some of the "leftovers" were better than those on the album proper.
-
@toris
I get your point and Yankeefan had the same feeling. I just liked the first half of the title and I took it to mean the opposite...that Paul's "Leftovers" are better than most of the other "Artists" out there. Like you, I thought that many of his Leftovers were better than many of the songs that actually made it onto his original albums. Not all, but better than some that made the cut. The more I thought about it, I started to think that "Flip Sides and Deep Cuts" would be better. It was Yankeefan who came up with this title and it does have a more "positive" implication for these more "overlooked" songs. I just couldn't believe how many Paul actually has. -

It's clever and catchy in my opinion. The most important thing in this proposed project are the "Track Lists" themselves and Yankeefan's title surely is "true" to its contents.

I have a few Doctor Appointments over the next couple of days but I promise to give a "Summation" Post to this topic by this Weekend. I'm sure many here will be happy. -
I will give you my summation of this thread now because I feel you should have the "last word" on this topic. It is a testament to the greatness of Paul McCartney that he has written so much wonderful music that is basically unknown to the general public. It would be nice in future years if MPL understands an idea like yours is not commercially viable but releases something like you suggested to kind of put a "bow around the box" on Paul's career. I am not holding my breath for this to happen, but one could only hope. It is sad IMO that a fan like you seems to love Paul's solo music more than Paul himself. I have told you before that if they ever decided to do this type of project, they should let you be in charge -lol. So, my final comment will be to thank you for reminding me of some excellent music I had forgotten about and made me revisit these wonderful songs.
