Melbourne, Australia - Sat 21 Oct 2023 CONFIRMED
-
I am thrilled that Paul is coming back to Melbourne on October 21st.
I have tickets in the 5th row (not being able to secure front row seats). I have seen Paul in 1975, 1993, and 2017 (front row in Brisbane and 5th Row in Melbourne. All were great and memorable shows. I also met Paul briefly in 2018 in London. He was very polite but he explained that he does not give autographs near his home. I understood this and was pleased to be able to thank him for the pleasure his recordings and live performances always give me .
I wore my customized Sgt Pepper uniform to the 2017 concerts in Melbourne and Brisbane and had a great time. His security manager very kindly handed me the printed Set List after the show in Brisbane. My current Beatles collection has 3013 discs - Blu Rays,DVDs, CDs , Vinyl.
I was wondering if there was any way to get get the band's autographs in Melbourne this time? -
@musicdad I just looked on Ticketmaster and there are suddenly some $99.90 tickets again! I imagine you would have to be quick to get them, though. https://www.ticketmaster.com.au/paul-mccartney-got-back-2023-docklands-21-10-2023/event/25005EEFAD42175E

@peter-w What type of ticket package got you row 5 Melbourne? I dont think Paul does autographs at all now and no to Photos with him. Such a shame in a way, but I guess after being in the Business for so long the man needs a break. Hey did you wear a blue Sgt Pep out fit to Melb 2017?

@musicdad Ticketmaster have just released the $149 tickets again if you still need them!

I'm still buzzing!!! It was amazing.... As was 2017 and 1993.... the crowd noise was crazy. Roof over the stadium really amplified the sound, particularly the bass. Paul "spoke" to the crowd more than he did in other Australian tours, and it really resonated. He was charming and funny, and loveable.... a wonderful night that I experienced with my Mum (who was at the Melbourne concert in 1964) and my daughter (who was there in 2017)... I think Paul loved it as much as we did it!
Other comments for another time.... but.... Paul is THE MAN.

Thanks Oobu!!!!.... The reviews were glowing!.... Mind you, yes, a lot of those reviewers didn't seem to understand that a lot of the stories Paul was telling on stage had been mentioned before.... but, so what.... you know, a lot of us want to hear Paul mix it up, and do different songs.... BUT we are the minority. 95 per cent of that 60,000 crowd were there to hear the hits, and they had not heard the stories before. Paul was absolutely charming, and a great story-teller! He engaged with the crowd more than I've ever seen before.
Lots of younger people there. But, they really got on board.
There were blank expressions in the crowd even when he did She's a Woman (one of my faves) and Junior's Farm and Let Me Roll it..... I've come to realize it isn't about what I want to hear (Yeah, I would LOVE that Tug of War / Pipes of Peace medley!)... and Little Lamb Dragonfly or The Back Seat of My Car or I've Had Enough or Stranglehold or Beautiful Night or Dominoes or Through Our Love or Call Me Back Again or Ballroom Dancing or so many others).... but it isn't about me. It is about the 95% of the crowd that were there to hear the hits.
A wonderful concert. His voice was really good. A splendid time was had by all. Guaranteed!
ps. In Spite of all the Danger was a real stand out performance.

And "You Never Give Me Your Money".... what a highlight. One of my all-time greats.

Glad everyone enjoyed the show and had a great time. Of course, when you go see any music artist you are there to hear the hits. That being said, you can still mix up your set with hits and some more new songs that were written in this century -lol. I checked the setlist and only 5 songs were not at least 40 years old. (Here Today was in 1982). The sad thing IMO about Paul telling the same stories is that I am sure he has so many more interesting things to tell an audience. It is almost like a Broadway/West End show and Paul is reading off a script. One quick question to you and others. If you go a concert to somebody besides Paul, do you give their new and or lesser known songs a chance and try to enjoy them or use that time for "bathroom break" -lol. Personally, sometimes an artist does a song I did not know, and it becomes one of my favorites of the show.
-
Five "recent" songs, Yankeefan!.... not that I would necessarily include Come on To Me and Fuh You....
Can't remember the last non-Paul concert I went to.... probably Chris Isaak... and that was a while ago!
-
You are correct, overlooked a couple. Still 5 out of 39 songs is not much -lol. I made correction in my post.

@toris
So glad you got to see Paul and have your Mom and Daughter with you. That is so great! -
The Melbourne show was fantastic. I also loved the pre show with lots of his lesser known solo and wings songs. Country dreamer and b side to sea side were there. Does anyone have a list of all the preshow songs or a link?

So glad you got to see Paul and have your Mom and Daughter with you. That is so great! Thanks BJ!!.... And that is why it was so great to watch their eyes light up when Paul did a song they knew! (Not the ones I knew that they didn't know.... you know what I mean)... Three generations of Paul fans... As I've said, Mum was there in 1964 in Melbourne at Festival Hall.... And.... my daughter... Wow, the fireworks from Live and Let Die.... My girl's eyes lit up. Just as they did in 2017. What a highlight. An absolute highlight!.... A great concert.

ps. For another thread.... If you won a competition, and Paul said he would do a concert just for you (me/us).... no big tour... just a one-off concert he played for the competition winner and a few of his or her friends (or fellow McCartney internet folks) ... 30
songs.... as dictated by the competition winner.... And Paul agreed to do every song requested.... very isolated gig... No more than 50 people.... what songs would you choose? Would be interesting.... Because it would be quite different..... Hmmm.... I'll have to ponder that.
