How is everyone feeling?

I just took a Covid test because I have the same symptoms that I had in early September (coughing, stuffy nose) but it was negative this time. I feel worse now though!

@njr Have had a bad cold for the past three weeks, but it's not covid, just a head cold. Am at the end of it though and feeling much better. Hope you feel better soon!

@ladyleslie Thanks, you too! I went to Peachtree Immediate Care yesterday (made appointment around 12:45 for 2:15) Got in immediately! They did nasal swabs for Covid & flu (negative, which I knew they’d be because I did a home Covid test on Sunday and had flu shot on the 4th) They took a throat swab and sent it to the lab. They will only call in antibiotic if it’s bacterial infection. They sent in prescriptions for Prednisone (steroid) dose pack and something for my cough. My ribs are starting to hurt from coughing! Also said to keep taking Mucinex DM. And have been occasionally taking a nasal decongestant and using a nasal spray sparingly. I swear, every time I go on a trip somewhere I get sick after I come home! At least it wasn’t a kidney stone like after the trip to Pittsburgh last May! Got bronchitis after Flower Power cruise in April 2022, then again after U.K. trip in Sept. 2022. Got real mild Covid case after U.K. trip Aug. 2023. I barely coughed and had stuffy nose - lasted only maybe 5 days!
My next trip is the 2024 Flower Power cruise in March. We’ll see if I can stay well after it! -
P.S. Forgot to mention I had been up in Ohio for my 50th high school reunion Sept 29 - Oct 1!

Hope you had fun. I had excellent time at mine in NY a few years ago. The best part was seeing three people who I went to school with from first grade to twelfth grade. For the most part, people had aged very gracefully. (the girl voted best looking in our class still looked great -lol). Also, we had three couples in our class that went to the prom together and got married a few years later. Finally, hope the medications you got start working and you feel better soon.

Thanks! They do seem to be helping already!
I think the men changed the most. I could recognize some of them easily though. Most of the women were easy to recognize.
I did have fun. Friday and Saturday night s guy who had been in my Kindergarten class (and many others) sat with me. And my BFF from 10th -12th grade finally came up from Florida for her first reunion! (I flew from Atlanta for ALL of them!) -
Home COVID tests seem to be a bit less reliable with newer variants, and are especially hit-and-miss when you're newly infected, so some caution is advisable. Everyone, please be careful. It's not just a respiratory virus -- it can mess with your body in a whole lot of ways, increasing your risk of diabetes, heart problems and all sorts of stuff. Thanks to COVID, I have peripheral neuropathy -- painful nerve damage -- in my lower legs and feet that will be with me as long as I live. If you're out among crowds, especially in enclosed spaces, where an N95 respirator or similar.

Think men change the most due to hair loss -lol.

Exactly! Quite a few were completely bald and hard to recognize.

Bruce, I’m so sorry to hear about this! I didn’t know peripheral neuropathy was a side effect of Covid, let alone permanent!
P.S. I just got a call from the Urgent Care place and my throat swab showed it is just a cold virus. I’m feeling better, no more stuffy nose, and coughing less. Slept much better last night. -

The docs I saw at the Long COVID clinic in Honolulu say neuropathy is fairly common with COVID, and an online support group I'm in has lots of people with similar symptoms (though the details vary widely). Unfortunately, while modern medicine has produced lots of miracles, large-scale repair of damaged nerve tissue is not among them. Be careful out there, folks!

Why are so many people getting COVID while on vacation. Two couples I know got Covid while taking Riverboat cruises in Europe!

My wife and I have thought about taking a riverboat cruise in Europe, did the couples enjoy their trip?

Just being around a lot of people for extended periods, that’s all.

And I'll bet most of those people were unmasked. I never go to crowded indoor spaces (supermarkets, malls, airports) without an N95 respirator on. Not doing that is madness.
