John Lennon Quotes?
-
Take a look at this web page that lists quotes supposedly spoken by John. http://www.pamalam.co.uk/JOHN.htm Some are definitely real quotes, and some are song lyrics, but others just seem obviously NOT to be him. But there's one in particular, the very last one, that seems to be all over the Internet attributed to John: "When you do something noble and beautiful and nobody noticed, do not be sad. For the sun every morning is a beautiful spectacle and yet most of the audience still sleeps." Does anyone know where this comes from? To me, this doesn't sound like John in the least, but people have posted it over and over again. I can't find it being attributed to anyone else, but it sounds more like something the Dalai Lama, or even Yoko, would say, or even a Hallmark card!

Hi everyone and a Happy Merry Christmas & New Years to all. My favorite quote by John despite that it was not meant to be interpreted as it was in 1966, is that THE BEATLES were more popular than Jesus! In my opinion, in reality, after all these years, they were!
-
It's probably one of those motivational posters that have been around forever and no one knows who really said it. Unless it was really him.

I've heard and read about every interview or book with John's words and quotes that's out there, and that is definitely not something I've ever heard or read him say. But I've seen other quotes attributed to him on the internet also, which I know he didn't say. I think its sad and shameful people would post anything like that without citing their references or where it came from.

I agree that it doesnt sound like John, especially the do not be sad part.

I think that's why someone somewhere credited it to him. Too many people post quotes willy nilly without any regard for who actually said them. If you want people to repeat your quote, or retweet or reface - whatever it's called on Facebook - then it needs to be attributed to a name that people recognize. If you put John Lennon's name on a quote, you get more thumbs up.

LOL. But misattributed quotations existed long before the Internet. Lots of stuff has been attributed to Lincoln, Mark Twain, etc., that they never actually said. And John surely won't be the last to have stuff attached to his name erroneously. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure the Lincoln quote I've seen about not texting while driving is authentic.

^ Especially, whilst driving a Lincoln...to the Ford Theater...boo!!!
-
One of my favorite John quotes is this one... "This is my story...both humble and true...take it to pieces...and mend it with glue..." This is from the inside cover of John's cd...WONSAPONATIME

"The Beatles were the biggest bastards on Earth."

There's an awful lot of junk on the Net as well as good stuff I'm sure I've contributed to the junk myself, before I've also noticed quotes supposedly from John Lennon that don't sound like him at all, online. If it's something very dry and wry and a bit dark humored like "The Beatles were the biggest bastards on earth" then am more inclined to believe.

That's pretty good - I'm going to steal that (hopefully this Abraham Lincoln fellow is ok with that...)

^^ yes, I just saw an interview the other week where he said it. This one I like as I believe the same: "I'm not afraid of death because I don't believe in it. It's just getting out of one car, and into another." - John A very moving video where John where he says this exact quote: God:
*i love to see John on his sailboat. -

It's right in front of everyone's faces , but they can't quite see it. (Forest for the trees) Love and Peace is an ancient and eternal religion in and of itself. And, John is and was and will be always...One of it's greatest supporters. "Imagine All The People..." ~ //oo\\
