When it was number 1 in the UK for 9 weeks back in 77 I know I certainly associate it with Christmas

Never expected Mull it's more of a Christmas type song and yes the couple on stage were a bit of a pain get on with the show rather than lathering about with fans the other 9998 fans would have preferred Soily. As for Temp Sec you can polish a pig what is a poor song on record is still a poor song live, loved the bbc micro video behind the song though, not a fan of NEW by any means but the songs off it far better live than their recorded versions.

RE: Concerts.
So onwards to Bryan Ferry at the phil in Liverpool,a stunning night he was on top form his voice was in great form and while he didnt say all thats much it didnt really matter 25 songs all sung if note cd perfect than as close to it as makes no difference. A good selection of songs off the new album Avonmore (its excellent) rounded off with standard Roxy and Ferry standards made for a great night. Ferry has set the bar high for Paul on Thursday night one im sure he'll match or indeed better

I always liken temp sec back in the day but boy does it sound dated but hey always good to mix it upDave Grohl there tonight i see on twitter?
I can probably list at least ten relatively current indie-rock bands who've recorded tracks that sound like they could easily fit on McCartney II. Two that come to mind are Passion Pit and Man Man.
It just proves what we as fans, and perhaps Paul may have forgotten was that he could do stuff so un Macca like back in the day,but i stand by what i say to my old ears it sounds like it should have been left back in 1980 but as a curio (and i suspect it won't make it much past this tour before its retired for good)its great he's peeled the covers off it.

My lad works at the Echo Arena and yes as with other arenas there isn't as you say there isn't a curfew as such and yes they do like to see everyone off in good time but I'll say this it'll be closer to 11.30pm he finishes than 10.30pm Paul is Paul and he'll finish when he wants in his own good time and he makes sure we've all had a good time.

Does anyone know what time the show starts approx? Have to dash from work (on probably busiest day of the year at work!!), run to station, leg it to riverboat at other end. Phew! Won't make it to O2 until 7pm, from last time that should be ok as I'm sure Paul didn't come onto 8pm or so! Don't think I'll be able to make any drinks but will try. Hi, to everyone going. Have a fab time!! If you see a flustered loopy one, it's me!!
Saturday's show is 8pm approx and Sunday 7.30 approx Lisa! As Paul does 2 hours 45 mins as a rule you can work it out? Curfew is 11pm Saturday and 10.pm Sunday!
Ahh the great "curfew"myth the very same curfew thats in place when Guns N roses play at every venue in the UK at 2am in the morning, thats not to say they wont get fined for going over agreed time but it is nonsense to suggest that plugs will be pulled if they creep over 11pm

Trust me i go as I'm sure others on here do to the Echo Arena a lot in the course of the year and their emails are for the most part optimistic with start end times, indeed ive just found my email from the arena from 2011 and that said 6.00pm doors open show start at 7.30pm i seem to recal it was much nearer 8.30pm last time it started. Of course we'll get a much clearer idea of start times with the o2 gigs in the next day or two.

The only scenario I can think of when wearing the wrong t-shirt can be a no-no is when the frontman can be a paranoid, control-freak punk -- like when Axl Rose had people thrown out of his shows for wearing Slash's Snakepit shirts in the front-row. Stuff like that. But, other than that, it's not like we're talking about rival pro-sports teams, and some character wears a Cubs jersey at a Mets game (not sure if that's a good example -- I don't follow sports). And, even then, I don't give a rat's ass.
Last time i saw Guns N roses our t shirts were checked for just that reason and that was what 2012 or so. The NME stopped being relevant back in 1980 so i wouldnt take any notice of what they say but i ask this question,is it right to wear a "concert" t shirt from say 1973 soprting Led Zep on it when you're currently 18? So i ask this should you only own the concert t shirt of the tour you went to? Or is it late here or am i rambling?

Why hasn't it sold out yet ??
Because the ticket prices are really expensive and because a lot of people in your country have been down on Paul since the 2012 Olympics.
Little doubt that the UK in general have had enough of Paul sadly the amount of people we talk who say "he should retire","he's past it" and worse i usually ask what gig they're going to see next and more often than not get an anser such "britain's got talent""x factor"or pre proccessed pap of yesteryear such as s club 7 or even worst garbage from the '80's on a trip down memory lane concert, the trip generally being them playing their one hit form 1985. I also ask and get no proper answer to "when did you see Paul last"?and more often than not they've never seen him they base it all on those horror shows a few years back, the mind boggles it really does.

Hello everyone. It's been a long time since I last posted on these forums. Best news of the year for me! I'm coming up on the 27th, so luckily I miss the train strike and the Cunard event that is supposedly going to cause a bit of chaos in Liverpool. I'm staying at the Premier Inn in Albert Dock. Is anyone else? This will be the one and only time I'm going to do VIP, so I'll be going to the soundcheck. Is anyone else doing the soundcheck? Also.... I've never been to Liverpool before so I might get lost!!
Hi Frankie, My husband, Ian, and I will be at the soundcheck - see you there! We're staying at the Hilton. We'll probably get lost too, it's years since I've been in Liverpool We'd thought about going down to see the three queens but have decided against it due to expected chaos!! Excited, or what?!!!
Honestly from the Hilton cross the road and aim for the big wheel its impossible to miss the arena from there

RE: Concerts.
Saw John Barrowman the other night, perhaps not strictly a gig but a fun night nontheless, lots of laughs at his expense so if you're a torchwood/arrow/Doctor Who fan and he's in your area go see him he's well worth the admission money

RE: Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits
He did it when we saw him last in Liverpool, one of those songs that slipped through my radar whne it was out on vinyl all those years ago as you say an epic song.

Mark knopfler start off a madd month for me in manchester last saturday night well wroth seeing

RE: Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits
Oddly enough i went to see him at the manchester arena on saturday night he has a young lass with called Ruth Moody she can sing for sure and on the couple of songs shes with certainly adds to the songs, sax player Nigel Hitchcock on sax as well so theres a lot going on on stage. The players are superb simple as that Marks voice is at times a bit ruff truth be told but i would also add wasnt it always so maybe im being harsh to him,the standard of his playing was pretty much spot on,Alan my husband who's present this was said after the 15 or so mins of Telegraph road "that was worth the ticket price on its own" and he has a point, not a fan of epic songs but that was brilliant. Now to the downside of the night, the horrendus echo coming from the drums time and again after you'd heard the "drum" you'd get a thwack following almost imedietly it was bloody annoying to say the least and at times it was close to ruining the evening (that came later with the bloody awful train service form manchester) but grumbles aside go and see him almost 2 and a half hours of excellent musicianship you wont regret it.
