RE: Germanien, Helvetien, Noricum
OK, bis auf mich... aber mich interessiert auch nicht besonders, was auf WDR5 läuft, da ich dieses Programm hier nicht empfangen kann! Trotzdem frage ich mich immer noch, wo denn alle anderen abgeblieben sind!!

That online translator seems to make up words sometimes! I got more things right when I relied only on my dictionary and made up all the sentences myself! But then I found this thing and now I sometimes use it for longer sentences, because it often took me so long to make them up that I got logged out before I could post my message! (Of course I check what it's doing before I post it... but many things still escape me!)

"W fajły mp3" was supposed to mean "in mp3 files". That's what the Poltran translator gave me. It looked good, so I went with it! My dictionary doesn't give the word "file" at all! (In general, it doesn't have much of modern computer vocabulary! Perhaps you two could give me some relevant words there! )

RE: Polish Your Polish~Polski
Oglądałem ich strona internetu, www.czerwonegitary.pl , i słuchałem niektórych śpiewów w fajły mp3. Muszę zgadzać się z wami obydwa: Brzmią bardzo dobry, ale nie jak Beatles!

Pawel:
Ziomek is no longer to be found in contemporary Polish. It's been replaced by "rodak" (singular) and "rodacy" (plural) Ziomek only refers to the German group of people who were driven away from Germany's former eastern territory after 1945, and now claim rights to their former property.
I actually understood it to mean all German expatriates from the former Eastern Territory, rather than just those who claim rights. Speaking of that, is there also a general term for those people of German origin who chose to stay on and adopt Polish citizenship - now forming a cultural and linguistic minority within Poland? I don't know how many of them there are these days, but they must be a few thousand at least.
Pawel:
If you like The Beatles you'll also like Czerwone Gitary
Were they modelled after the Beatles?

Perhaps I should buy a better dictionary with more usage notes in it, especially as far as contemporary or old-fashioned usage is concerned. Most common dictionaries just provide you with approximate word translations (some idioms at best), many of which may have been accurate when the lexical data were acquired, but have gone out of usage since then, or the usage of a particular word may have changed - but the dictionary doesn't tell you so! (Such as the word "ziomek", which my dictionary translates as "compatriot", but you told me it has a very different and special usage in modern Polish!) Right now, I am, unfortunately, a bit short of money... Anyway, I must make a note of "żadnych / jakichkolwiek wyścigów" then! Might be nice to hear a few songs in Polish! Unfortunately, I have no knowledge whatsoever about Polish music, be it in the 60s or whenever!

Pawel:
"wszelki" introduces an element of determination, like the English "any" e.g.: wszelkie wyścigi <---- any tours (races) all tours ----> wszystkie wyścigi
Exactly. What I was trying to say is: But I never watch any races.

Pawel:
Christoph, niby nie interesujesz się "rowerzeniem"
:
Pawel:
ale jednak sporo wiesz... :
Tak, poznaje się wielu różnych rzeczy... Ale nigdy nie oglądam wszelkie wyścigi.

Lance Armstrong to po prostu najlepszy kolarz naszego czasu! A jeśli rozważasz, że zwalczał rak...

RE: Polish Your Polish~Polski
Żeby mówić prawda, nigdy przedtem nie słuchałem o "Tour de Pologne"... ale, jak powiedziłem, nie zwłaszcza interesuję się kolarstwem...

RE: Polish Your Polish~Polski
Mamy też nasz "Deutschland-Rundfahrt", ale to nie ma znaczenie jaki Giro, Vuelta i Tour!

RE: Polish Your Polish~Polski
Po 1990, był zamieniane w zawodowy wyścigi - ale wątpię, czy to jest teraz jak popularny taki był potem. Myślę, że wyścigi jak Tour de France albo Giro d'Italia są uważany więcej istotny teraz.

Yes, that was a very popular race in the former GDR. (I assume it was at least as popular in Poland! ) I have a few GDR stamps in my collection, each commemorating that particular year's "Friedensfahrt". The most popular (East) German racer was Gustav-Adolf "Täve" Schur, who took part from 1952 to 1964. But that's basically all I know about it - as I said, I'm not really interested in bicycle races. On the contrary, you seem rather enthusiastic about it!

Niestety, kiedy szukam słów na polskich stronach internetu, nie mogę sprawdzać czy są poprawni albo używany prawidłowo. Są po prostu za wiele ludzie, który nie mogą używać ich własny język... :

Sergeant Pepper:
OK... "Wish You Were Here" to też moja ulubiona płyta Pink Floyd! Pink Floyd to jedna moich ulubionych zespołów"... Ale słowo "grupa" jest w polskim języku! Nie interesuję się zwłaszcza rowerzeniem... ale myślę, że Jan Ullrich nigdy nie będzie lepszy niż Lance Armstrong!
Christoph, raczej nie interesujesz się kolarstwem niż "rowerzeniem"
Ale mogę dobrze sporządzać nowe słowa, nie?
Magda:
A tak poza tematem to z jakiego słownika korzystasz?? To znaczy jakiego wydawnictwa??
"Langenscheidt Universal-Wörterbuch Polnisch" i Poltran ( www.poltran.com ) Ale "rowerzenie" było przypuszczane od "rower" i "rowerzysta", i też znajdowałem "rowerzenie" w internecie.
