Hi, I'm a bit confused with the content of the new flowers in the dirt stuff . Am I right in saying there are two sets of demos ? If so , which demos are on the standard edition- the acoustic ones , or full band ones ? My main reason for asking , is that unless the deluxe package comes down in price substantially- I'm considering buying the standard cd and vinyl editions instead .

Venus and mars deluxe edition
I have all the deluxe editions so far with the exception of wings over America. I've stored them all in the same way , yet my Venus and mars book hard back cover has completely warped. So the whole thing is badly curved . Any one else experiencing the same problem ?

version of real love on the working class hero collection
Listening to the working class hero double cd . Second last track is Real Love - vocal / piano only . I think it's the version taken from the anthology / wonsaponatime collections . Question is , why wasn't this version used as the basis for the Beatles version?! It's beautiful and clear - Johns vocals are almost studio quality. Compare it to the version used . Pretty muddy sounding in comparison with a click track throughout marring it further . Also sped up which further affects johns vocal . The mind boggles , and would appreciate info or theories on this !

+1 I've also never understood all the criticism Paul gets for his acting. I've always enjoyed watching him in all the movies (don't forget MMT and Broad Street!), and I think he does much better than the vast majority of non-actors would. He's very good at deadpanning, as all four of them were and are. John and Ringo were the most natural actors of the group, but Paul's performances were not far behind IMO. He even does well as Pyramus in the Midsummer Night's Dream sketch -- his facial expressions are priceless. I most love his bits on SNL, especially the Chris Farley show, which must have been very difficult to play straight, and that cut skit where he played the job-seeker. He has strong comedic timing. He's also especially skilled with voices and impressions, and I wish they would make better use of those talents on SNL. As LadyLeslie said, most of the time he plays himself in things, which I think is a shame, as he'd likely be better as a character actor. It will be interesting to see who/what he winds up playing in Pirates. I'm really looking forward!
Yes, he was excellent in his SNL bits. I think comedy is his strongest point in all of the skits I've seen him in. He must be naturally a funny guy. I really liked him with his tint harmonica on his interview on the View. There was also a hilarious sketch he did with a melotron once. There are plenty of enjoyable sketches and you tubes, where Paul is very enjoyable to watch... Looking forward to seeing him in the movie.
Totally approve of both posts ! I think Paul's acting is genuinely fine! I think he's really natural in Hard Days Night Help AND especially broadstreet . I think Broadstreet is totally underated - I find it totally watchable. Help is actually my favourite Beatles movie, think it's really funny, and I actually think that both Hard Days Night (and Ringo's performance in it ) is grossly overated !

RE: THE NEXT DELUXE/REMASTERED ALBUM FROM PAUL
Please tell me this is not going to still be ?134 by the time its released. That's mega expensive , really want this - one of my favourite albums , but this is too much - especially when one batch of tracks is download only - why ?! may just have to opt for the standard 2 disc cd and vinyl...

I also wondered why the Ed Sullivan footage was a lot poorer than the already available DVDs . Someone mentioned it was to do with the screen format - standard to widescreen or vice versa ? One thing is for sure , it's far grainier than it was...
Because the Ed Sullivan estate wants you to buy the Ed Sullivan DVD!
But like everything else on 8 days a week, it's not the complete ed sullivan shows, so I can't see that being a reason.

I was expecting a lot more concert material. Very much like a rehashed Anthology. Good thing for the bonus disc...
I agree, and tbh there's not much in the bonus material either. I was expecting at least a full concert. Too much studio stuff for a documentary on the " touring years ".

RE: Why don't they remix Free as a Bird?
Love the songs. Think they are great. So glad they did it. It was a dream come true for me.

Both the " threetles" tracks are clearly remixed on the 1+ dvd. You hear new guitar parts.

RE: Ron Howard Directing Beatles documentary
I love it for what it is. It's a great heartwarming documentary with great footage ( mostly) superbly cleaned up. I fully approve of the colourised footage - brings it alive.. However the faults I find are - the footage of the ed sullivan show is a lot grainier than the beatles ed sullivan show dvd I already have?! For a doco about their touring years, theres far too much about the recording studio. I'm almost certain that the audio for the abc Manchester footage is actually the Hollywood Bowl audio - which is cheating the public.we want authenticity surely? Most of the 64 / 65 footage appears to have the Hollywood Bowl audio ('with the exception of shea). What's the point in that? The extras are disappointing. 5 songs - most of which is in the movie and shows just how little footage is actually shown.blu ray capacity is huge - why not full gigs? Nice movie, but so much available footage missing! Why?! Missed opportunity unfortunately ð???

RE: Best Of Ringo Starr 2 CD set Comes Out in Oct
Y not Is a great album. I liked the " Ringo 2012 " follow up as well. The sound production on his recent stuff is really excellent. Can't believe the compilation appears to contain the old version of wings. The newer version is a massive improvement.

I would like to see Paul collaborate w/ other musicians similar to what Carlos Santana did w/ Supernatural. If Paul wants to sell more music he should consider selling to the millennials who purchase a lot of downloads.
I have the exact opposite wish. I want him to do a McCartney III, playing all of the instruments himself.
Was chaos and creation not essentialy mccartney III then?

Didn't want to ruin it for others with specifics , but as other people of have said , there are colour segments of Washington and Blackpool . Its not colour footage perse - its clearly colourised. The cymbal colour for a start is a big giveaway ! There is colour cinefilm footage of Washington - I'm sure its interspersed with the black and white footage in the extended version of Anthology. They've obviously used that as a reference when colouring the clip on Eight Days a Week , and its absolutely marvellous. As I mentioned earlier , its a shame we only got 1 song from the Colliseum, and other gigs. I would rather have had more concert footage and less stills with studio banter. I can't believe they are contemplating not putting Shea out as a DVD extra ! Unless we are going to get a proper live compendium , of shea , Hollywood Bowl , Washington et al . I'd be all for that... They can't leave it unreleased ... surely!
Do you mean Ringo's cymbals are the wrong color? What did they do, make them gold instead of silver?
Yeah, the cymbals were very " willy Wonka " style gold! ð??? Other than that - awesome! For me the blue carpet was very much just in the same vein as the promotional stuff colouring - poster / Hollywood Bowl album cover.. Either that or its a tribute to the blue meanies ð???

Hi stuartshire! Lets not say anything yet, lets let our fellow Beatles fanatics see the movie and judge it for themselves.
As I mentioned in my post., I only mentioned specifics after several other people had already "let the cat out of the bag" Not guilty!

RE: Ron Howard Directing Beatles documentary
Utterly magnificent. Worth every penny . Awe inspiring, funny, and poignant. Saw and heard so much new stuff. What they did with the washington and Blackpool footage was superb. Also great to have the original audio soundtrack restored to the shea concert. Great job Giles Martin.. Not perfect though. On the big screen, the ed sullivan footage looked grainier than my dvd I have at home. Also while the concert footage was excellent, I would have liked a bit more.most concerts only had one song, which I found surprise and a little disappointing.. All in all loved it though.

RE: The Beatles Live at the Hollywood Bowl (Releasing 9.9.16)
First of all - it sounds incredible! This for me Is the holy grail. I've waited around 30 years for this. Always thought it sounded good anyway - remarkably fresh sounding Now however the sound quality is off the scale. The big thing for me is how good the drums and lead vocals sound now! Couple of downsides though. I get the need to maintain the integrity of the original album, and support the way they've packaged the bonus tracks but, why on earth Have Baby's in black as the last tune?! Total anticlimax. Also, I have a bootleg that has all the tracks from both games - why no I Feel Fine.
