Absolutely fantastic!!! I am definitely getting this! The special features sound great! Apple seems to be on a role after the "Yellow Submarine" remaster!
I'm hoping for, but not holding my breath for, a Let It Be remaster, or even a real release. I'm just not seeing that happening, though for so many reasons, so I'll have to stick to my staticky bootleg copy.
I don't want to raise anyone's hopes, but I think there are a few signs of hope that we should consider for a "Let It Be" release this year: -first, keep in mind how little Apple Corps actually does on a regular basis (not including their occasional spurts of activity here and there) beside licensing agreements for official Beatles products -second, think about how much (by comparison) they have done this year which is, after all, the groups' 50th anniversary... (Timing does matter) -third, look at the quality of these films. Although Apple is known for doing a great job when they set their minds to it, these film releases have been handled with particular care. Notice that they include nice packaging, extra features, significantly restored sound and visual quality, AND a series of exclusive related merchandize online. I would like to emphasize that this is just speculation; however, if I was CEO of Apple, I would (among a long list of other things) release the "Let It Be" film just before Christmas... Think about it, they released YS in May during the beginning of summer when many people have a bit more time on their hands to buy and watch these kinds of things, they are going to release MMT in early October in the beginning of fall which gives it a month and a half or so to ride a surge of sales and then decline (remember that this film is an acquired taste), leaving a perfect gap in the month of December to announce a surprise release of a restored LIB film with the same treatment as the others (blu-ray option, deleted scenes, commentary, and other special features in addition to great packaging). It is arguable that the release of LIB into DVD would be the biggest thing in Beatles-related news since the '09 remasters or even the LOVE album of '06, therefore, it's the perfect thing to release at the dawn of the Christmas season for people to snatch-up like crazy for themselves and as gifts for others... And let's not forget how the official online Beatles store often has seasonal Christmas discounts on certain bundles (*hint-hint* movies for 2012??). Afterall, if they're going to release it at all, this is the best year to do it (unless they plan to wait for the 75th anniversary :lol. But, then again, that's just the kind of strategy that I would use if I headed Apple.... : Who knows what they'll really do?

Gosh darn it, I was thinking I could hold out on this release. The movie's not my cup of tea. But throw in some vinyl and now I'm in. I just wish it was more than the EP.

Can't wait for this I can finally replace this to my other DVD copy which is terrible colour is just so weak.

I am SO excited about this release! The MMT DVD I have looks pretty shabby and I am looking forward to being able to see a good print. I checked Amazon.ca but they only have the blue ray version for pre-order and nothing else. I sure hope they get the deluxe version. I don't have a blue ray player and have never watched a film in blue ray, is the difference really that major? Does the blue ray impart an "unreal" or unnatural quality?-Has anyone compared the difference in something like Yellow Submarine? I bought the new Yellow Submarine regular DVD and thought it looked great.
You could see a movie in the best theater in the world and then watch it on Blu-ray on an HDTV, and the Blu-ray will look better than seeing it in the theater. It doesn't "impart" anything. It only shows the film or video as it was made in perfect high definition. Yeah there is a huge difference between Blu-ray and DVD quality. Ordering the box set...Release date is John Lennon's birthday in the U.S.!

It's the MMT book that is luring my interests towards deluxe edition. And the amazon price will be dropping for pre-order by 10-15% over the next month or so.

To tell you the truth, I can't see a huge difference between the two.

I checked Amazon today and both a blu ray and regular dvd edition are up on the site. I know what I'm getting in October.

beatlesfanrandy and Nancy R, thanks so much for weighing in on DVD vs Blu-ray formats. Sounds like I should A/B somewhere somehow. I really grappled with getting a Blu-ray player when Yellow Submarine was released as I thought animation would probably look best in blu-ray. Not sure about regular film though as I was concerned that Blu-ray might look more vibrant imparting an unnatural quality. From what you mentioned beatlesfanrandy, this just isn't the case.

Gotcha. I know I will get the regular version, but wondering about the deluxe version. Although there is also a lot of Paul's archived stuff I haven't even gotten yet. Deluxe=$$$

At first I only saw it listed on the USA site but a few days later it appeared on the Canadian site. I suspect it might be the same for the UK Amazon site.

It's $66.49 but if price comes down between now and Oct. 9th, you will get the lower price.

YES!!! Keep looking! Patrice is right, in U.S. as well Amazon only charges when it's shipped (so they can give you lower price if it goes down by then)
